- In this video we look at how to create Modular room pieces to create your own scenes. Full disclosure I'm still on pretty powerful pain killers at the moment so I do stutter a bit
Don't forget to subscribe for more content. My channel features a lot of awesome tutorials on using Daz Studio (also known as Daz3d) such as how to create your own assets like Ghost lights, setting up your scenes for still images or animations, choosing the right render settings, how to speed up iray rendering times, and general advice on how to improve your renders to make them more Photorealistic and engaging. This channel also features dozens of Guides for coding in Ren'Py, which is a Python based Visual Novel engine, ideal for beginners or advanced programmers alike, so whether you are an Indie Dev or just a hobbyist this content would be very useful for you too! I also live stream and pre-record a lot of gaming content during my "off time". So check back to see what content is Added Daily. I also create guides on editing using Adobe Photoshop and Adobe Lightroom for adding a bit of polish to your final images

I can just hear the vendors out there crying. After spending gobs of money on scenes for Daz I learned that 90% of the time you only need the most rudimentary backgrounds because the focus is always on your characters, and 90% of the time you can create what backgrounds you need using primitives and shaders. I never tried this method, but it's really good. The other thing you might want to do is dress up the blocks with a little cove base at the bottom of the walls and a frame around the doorways.
Too many "Published artists" are phoning it in and selling really basic things that anyone can make and it makes me sad that people will reward this because they don't know any better. There are so many talented artists out there that are losing money because instead of people buying their awesome products they're wasting money on a set of walls, or a few ghost lights, or a single HDRI.
@@GameDeveloperTraining That's me!!! I dropped way too much cash on a few scenes then figured out I can just make my own.
I thought the Patreon was gone?
I'm broke this week but I'm glad it's back. Having a baby this week too so give me a week or two to get my finances back in order, and I'll get on that Patreon. Thanks for the work.
Funny you made this tutorial, you seem to always release a video when I need that exact info. I'm using Daz to take objects like houses and furniture out of Daz and put them into Unreal. I'm working on an Adult game in Ue4. Since the only ones I've seen haven't been that great.\
Congrats on the baby man! thats great news. I'm glad the videos are helping you out.
@@GameDeveloperTraining Thanks. I'm glad you're putting them out.
Thank you :) I use blender to create scenes mostly, then export as .obj reason is so many assets free from blendswap, yes I cheat...shhh :)), love your videos please keep going and I hope you are feeling much better :)
This made me remember the first time i worked with prims in the 3d social game second life in 2007. lmao :D
Very useful video. Thanks.
Thanks so much for your brilliant tutorials.
I've been subscribed to your channel since finding it for the first time.
I'm new to Daz and my development in using it has been greatly enhanced by your efforts.
I followed this video to the letter and completed a set pretty quickly.
I do have a snag, though, which you may be able to help me with.
When adding textures and shaders to the modular pieces the interior of the 'Cube' is black and the outside shows the texture/shader just fine.
Do you have a suggestion as to why this is and how I can rectify things?
Hope you can help.
Anyhoo...keep up the great work and thanks again.
Thanks for the kind words. In the geometry editor select the whole surface and right click somewhere in that menu is the option to flip normals on selected surface. That’ll sort you right out
@@GameDeveloperTraining Thanks, Dude. You're a star.
@@GameDeveloperTraining Works a treat! Thanks again, Dude. You are a star
How can I add a wall texture to the modules?
Nice tutorial, couldn't you cut the door from the object and paste it back, then parent it so you have a functioning door?
Nope. That's Unfortunately now a function that daz studio allows. it's better to just make your own door
hey bro im kinda dumb but i dont have all the options you do like you have so many editing tools i only have half of that
Nice, will be giving that a go on my shitty PC
Hey Thundorn have you seen the new MitchyCg Daz8 to blender 8? Would you be willing to play with it and review it?
Im thinking ill buy it to start finally using daz 8 in blender.
Try Diffeomorphic or mcjteleblender, first is my favourite witch exports rig with morphs that can be used in blender to change pose and expression if needed
Awesome! Hope you get well!
Maybe I'm missing something, but is this usable? All the pieces are 2-dimensional - walls have no thickness. Fine if your characters stay in a single room and your camera doesn't point at a window or open door but that seems pretty limiting.
The only limit is your imagination my friend.
@@GameDeveloperTraining Thanks. I'll just enter my VW bug in the Indy 500 then.
@@HobokenSquatCobbler Everything you do in Daz Studio has limitations. It's up to you to use your imagination to figure out how to work around those problems. I've shown you in this video everything you need to work it out, You just have to use your noggin
