Have you watched Avatar: The Way of Water? What did you think of the movie? And how do you compare it to the previous Avatar?
Both were silly!
Pandora was pandering!
Do you plan on playing Avatar: Frontiers of Pandora? I don't know how much marine fauna it'll have, and it'll definitely be more land-based than Subnautica, but are you interested in trying it out?
What I like about Avatar's alien creatures is that they still act like actual animals instead of just the stereotypical hostile alien monsters.
Absolutely! They are very similar to real animals.
It's really very interesting how they play the marine biologist in the film, my girlfriend is a biologist and works doing environmental impact work for mining companies. It's really not the job she likes the most but she really strives for her work to make a difference in the ecosystems she examines. 🌱
The real world is a very strange place hahahahahahaha
As always it's a pleasure to watch your videos!!! 🐋
What I love about the Avatar movies is seeing the environment and animals, they’re all so amazing and not seem like they could actually exist, unlike many other movies that depict nature and wildlife on alien worlds. You can tell they studied or probably had help from actual biologists or experts when designing the flora and fauna
This was the closest thing we'll probably ever get to a Subnautica movie and it was so deeply affecting just watching the long underwater scenes. At first I was like wow, these people are really over-the-top evil for no reason. Then I was like actually, if we found that whales were sentient and also their brain juice could extend the lives of billionaires, real humans would absolutely be doing that. Unfortunately.
I also want a plesiosaur friend and an alien whale friend.
While reading the behind the scenes of this movie I was gutted to find out that the hunting scene was pretty accurate in invoking real-world whaling methods - specifically the part of targeting mother-calf groups because whales (not sure if a specific type?) have very strong maternal instincts and won't willingly abandon a calf, which makes them easier to hunt.
Fun fact: plesiosaurs, their relatives the pliosaurs, the seal-like nothosaurs and the lizard/turtle-like placodonts are all related to turtles since they are all members of pan-testudines (turtles and their relatives).
I believe the giant predator Payakan killed is also partly based on predatory placoderms like Dunkleosteus.
Oh yes! Definitely. I had to look up how Dunkleosteus looked like, and they are definitely similar. Well spotted!
Nice React. I loved the movie two. The fliying creatures in my opinion looked like some teleosauroids with flying-fish-wings. :)
It was so satisfying to me in the endfight to see how they demolished that billion-dollar-whale-(tolkoun)-hunting ship bit by bit. I was smiling the during the whole battle.
Agreed!!
You know, if you reenacted the film with toys at the beach in Peredes, you could show the entire film without copyright infringement!
😂 next time
I lived near mangroves ... you'd think you'd love to live right on the water amongst them until you discover the mangrove mosquitos lmao
there's a reason people don't put their homes right against the mangroves
Im learning si much from you and your channel. I have always wanted to study marine biology and I'm loving it ❤❤
Watched this movie 3 times didn't catch that thing she did with her eyes, which makes total sense. Great video!!
Thank you!
I still need to watch it.
Will watch it when it's on blu ray or whatever
Honestly I actually liked this movie more than the 1st one shockingly
If only the youngest son would actually listen and he never learned to listen and that got the oldest killed so sad
Me too! Considerably more. Even though the story is not its strong suite, I really liked this movie's story much more than the first one.
I like how shes trying to explain everything until you realize that its an alien planet
Maria, have you seen the TV show called The swarm?
I think it would fit in with you reacting to "unnatural" ocean fiction tv/movie stuff.
I've read the book! I have to watch the series.
12:28 LETS GO LETS GO ... L. E. T. S....G.O.... LETS ...,, GO! ..., ( Hahaha old cheerleading cheer)
your interjections are very informative. nice.
may oree? maria as a kiwi I am fairly certain it's mao (slight roll to the r) ree, but i understand having to pronounce that and Metkayina in the same sentence.
I am surprised there isn't even more bioluminescence in the sea, considering how energy effective it is
Most sea wisdom per minute
I mean we got Avatar 3,4 & 5!🔥 Can’t wait to 2031…
Re-upload? I remember already watching your reaction on this somewhere in the past.
I only reacted to the trailer, not the movie itself, so it's a new one :D
2:26 well, birds _are_ reptiles. They're archosaurs, and so are crocodilians.
thx for your react
Her eye color strangely reminds me of the Mediterranean.
the dragon from Hobbit had a third eyelid too
Interesting. I don't remember noticing it either.
They literally looked liked massai tribe, mixed with Polynesian.
you're so pretty
So after watching this do I get this movie or volume 3 of GotG
I haven't watched GotG 3, so unfortunately I can't really help you there
Things I really really really wanna do but can't: Pet a whale/Have a whale friend :( I love whales and i want them to know!!!
I watched the movie and found it to be about the same as the first one, story-wise. In other words, meh.
I didn't know noise pollution was affecting marine species... I think humans are destroying the earth in every way possible. How sad!
I also thought the marine biologist got impaled on some sort of spike in the movie (oops), I guess that was another "evil" guy. Well, the visuals were stunning! And now I know they were based on real marine species!
So, in sum, Maria's reaction video: 10/10; Avatar 2: 2/10. 😁
p.s. Did anyone recognize Kate Winslet's voice? I sure didn't! Was shocked to see her name in the credits. Still love her, despite this movie. 👀
You're the most beautiful marine biologist ever
she's very pretty. she has really nice eyes too. they're like coral reef colours
Such a beautiful movie visually. Terribly dog shit script though!
Let's be honest Avatar movies are kinda stupid. Since we would probably just glass the planet from orbit. Since we are planing on strip mining it. And also humanity first.
U sound so dumb right now 😂
Either you did not watch the movies, or like my grandchildren you fell asleep. The Earthlings were hoping to exploit the sea creature, and basically they deserved to die, just like we do. Both of these movies make this obvious.
@ebaab9913 I don't think we has humans deserved to die. In the movie, they are just trying to ensure the survival, technological progression, and expansion of our species. Which should the goal any human organization once wwe reach the point of being a space faring species
Your definition of intelligence as pacificism is more like a political bias you have. And saying you can't gauge animal intelligence because they don't have verbal human language is really flawed too. You just have to define intelligence in a better way in order to gauge it properly doing justice to the animal. Also, it makes sense that you have a strong socialist/communist worldview since you're Portuguese, and projecting these preferences onto your object of study actually makes your work political activism rather than science.
I think the movie was a great nature documentary but pretty poor as a movie, pretty much like the first one. Cameron seems more interested in getting beautiful nature and animal shots than making a compelling story with good characters. I think he should go back to his deep sea exploring.
Actually that's not true ,I've seen a video where him aswell as the other four writers that worked on masterpieces of their own state that avatar 2 is incomplete because avatar 3 was supposed to be some sort of a continuation for part 2 an that's why there are some loose ends that I'd assume they'll tackle in avatar 3
