      imo that rlly dosent make a different to me , its still maagi and it still tastes the same wether u break or not. i think bc it makes it bit different when breaking it might be bc there wont be a pleasure of slurping noodles. but idk thats just my opinion.

    • @sushivision
      @sushivision 2 года назад +20

      There are two types of people in this world. There are those that break their noodles, and there are those who don't.
      The breaking noodles habit was probably developed when noodles were meant to be seeped in boiling water in a bowl and not cooked on stovetop. It's hard to get the noodles submerged completely without breaking the patties in half. Eventually people decided that cooking on stovetop was a better way of doing it because the noodles would be more well cooked, especially for the thicker variants, but the breaking habit was still retained despite the vessel being wider.

    I have NEVER seen maggi made like this but honestly I’m tempted to try. He was right about one thing though, there is no one way to make Maggi. Everyone in India has their own little modifications they do to the basic way of cooking it. A lot of people do like it plain but I think, as Indians, our collective extra gene forces us to add more spice and flavour.

    As a Swiss, I'm always amazed that Maggi is so popular in asia. I don't understand how something originating from our meh tasting cuisine appeals to people with some of the most flavourful food.

    • @rohansingh1057
      @rohansingh1057 2 года назад +3

      It does not. Even in India it's considered cheap food that is not supposed to taste good. However it's the go to thing for all college people and any mother who does not have time to prepare a proper meal. Instant noodles are quite popular around the world despite it being a well known fact that its cheap food and anything homemade or something fresh in a restraunt will always be better.
      It therefore has a nostalgic value to It.
      As you can Indians are quite transformative with it though. The plain maggi is practically converted to a dish that looks and tastes like something that you would normally eat in India.

    • @greeksalad6111
      @greeksalad6111 11 месяцев назад

      There are probably two, maybe three factors that make it so popular in India.
      Firstly, they've really altered the tastemaker to favour the Indian palate. That in itself makes the noodles very versatile. Any other combination of spices would've made Maggi too one directional. Indians like versatility, lol.
      Secondly, as the comment above remarks, the nostalgia of it. There is one thing you'll find with every student living away from home, and that's Maggi. It's also food for people who are hard pressed for money. By that I mean the terrible end of the month pockets. Students in particular live a frugal life so Maggi is almost the next best alternative. I myself had some for dinner last night.
      Thirdly, like Raktim so correctly pointed out, we can't do anything straight. So after all the years Maggi has been in the market there have been hundreds of variations made to it. Everyone has their own way of preparing it, and its always fun trying someone else's recipe. Maggi is the most versatile food option out there. You can have it plain, or make a whole meal out of it and serve a party of six. At this point Maggi is not even Swiss, it's Indian. 😆

  • @mamtasingh-jt2cb
    @mamtasingh-jt2cb 2 года назад +6

    It's true we Indians don't like doing things straight. We always end up adding flavours here and there. The patience of the boy is commendable and Lisa taking the advise and literally dedicating a whole video to the boy is another level. Kudos to both!

    My mother makes Lasagna maggie and it's the best version one can ever have. You boil the noodles and put them aside (do not boil them entirely). In another vessel prepare your gravy. My family is vegetarian so we do not add any meat. We use carrots, onions, peas, bell peppers, broccoli, green and purple cabbages, capsicum, french beans, tomatoes. We add all the spices like salt, red chilli powder, trumeric powder. and trust me in the gravy you need just one spoon oil. once the gravy is almost done, we add the taste maker in it and other seasonings of our choice.
    Now we spread the maggie like lasagna sheets and add the gravy. we make multiple such layers. As we reach the top layer, my mother makes a small hole in the middle and adds fresh cream which is home made (malai as what we call it in india). We garnish it with literally lots of coriander (cilantro) and slices of cheese. We then bake it in the oven. once the cheese melts (and also burns a little) you're ready to go. We prefer it a little spicy but in order to make it mild you can avoid adding red chilli powder or add more fresh cream, it works both ways.

    I just fry carrots and scramble eggs, put a obnoxious amount of chilli powder... Put these on a plate (or a bowl) and make the Maggi the normal way and then after it's done (let there be some water left), you just put it on the plate with the scrambled egg mixture and mix and enjoy.

    Lisa, thank you so much for listening and making a whole video out of this little guy’s voice message. I am so happy how much this video must have boosted his confidence.
    Raktim, just listening to your voice gives such a homely vibe, like a younger brother. God bless you child.

    This kid came through. I make this the whole time except mine is more crispier not very soggy. I can’t eat plain boiled Maggie no more. Cheers to you Lisa. Love from India.
