  • This is my 8 step process on how I decide on a wildcat round. By all means this is not bullet proof and is no way perfect. Do a lot of research before making your decision. This video is to only aid your thinking process of how and what to look at when deciding on a wildcat cartridge.

Wildcatting sure has changed a lot. What is described in this video is just reloading known loads. Wildcatting used to mean doing something that had not been done 10000 times. Loading 6mm PRC isn't any different than loading NATO spec 556.
I have been work with 17 cal wildcats for years. Everything from a WSSM length magnum to 17-06. Built from scratch with pretty much no load data.
I am not trying to be a dick, but I don't understand why everything under the reloading or handload umbrella get called wildcatting.

So far I’ve loaded for 4 cats that had absolutely no load data had to come up with it on my own. Not everyone has the mentality to load with a wildcat process obviously since you have wildcated that you carry that mentality into all loading process. I would venture to say that 60% or more just look data up and load it. As I do Cary this process into all of my reloading I was just giving a general overview to someone who wants to buy has no idea to go about it.
