  • On the eve of their 2011 Pitchfork Music Festival Performance we spoke with Erika M. Anderson and Leif Shackleford of EMA about the recording of Past Life Martyred Saints, the first full-length release under the EMA project header.
As you've not doubt discerned, EMA takes its name from the initials of the aforementioned Ms. Anderson, and the project started as her solo endeavor. Recordings and performances spanning nearly six years and various recording media were culled and assembled in Pro Tools by Erika with the help of Mr. Shackelford at his personal recording studio. Erika used the project as a opportunity to play with fidelity in the context of a sing; we used the opportunity of the interview to as her what it all means.

Owen, you are absolutely awesome at interviews! I always watch them even if I don't know the artist you're talking to! Great job, man!
