What do you think the reason is that Amazon would not just activate the look inside feature right away, knowing that your book launch is the most important time. Or at least the back of the cover displayed right away would be nice. Great videos by the way!!
Hard to define why it takes 8-10 days as it would be nice if it were 24hrs! I’ve had books earlier this year that took 10 weeks due to a glitch in the system. It was quite frustrating!!

For some unknown reason, KDP seem to have scrapped the 'See inside' icon for high content books and have replaced it with a small 'button' labeled "Read a sample".
I believe that they've scrapped the option completely for low content books - but for high content books it seems to be a pointless, retrograde step
OK, that really interesting re: High Content Books. I did know they had removed the Look Inside for No Content Books (KDP class them as Low Content Books) but I will look into this further. Thanks, Romney

I got the following message from KDP "We’re no longer accepting requests to adjust the percentage of a book’s reading sample" , any advise?
Since the making of this video 2 years ago, KDP have changed their Look Inside Feature. Best to refer directly to the KDP website.
Hi Romney. What am I missing here? I need help with understanding pages for print on demand. One page of a normal book is usually printed on both sides. Therefore surely 250 written pages must equal 125 sheets? This is for a printed book only using a cover, spine, and back template. I understand 250 pages would be uploaded for print on demand. However, surely the finished book printed would have 125 pages (sheets) printed on each side. Is that correct or not? In that case, the template (spine) would be formatted to fit 125 sheets, which are printed on each side? In the case of a Kindle book, 250 single pages would be uploaded?
When creating the template for KDP you enter the number of pages and disregard if it will be ‘double sided’. They take this into consideration when providing the calculations for the spine and book cover template size. Google ‘KDP Cover Calculator’ and it will automatically provide the calculations for you.
@@globalselfpublishing Unfortunately this is just not clear to me. There are various terms being used. Sheets and pages. I have been told the following by someone else:
“I think you are mixing concepts. One sheet has two pages, but one page can't have two sides. The page IS the side of the sheet. So 100 pages are just 50 sheets.”
The above sounds correct to me for printed books. HOWEVER another person writes:
“No, one page is one side of a sheet. So a book that has pages numbered 1 to 250 is 250 pages. So your cover would be formatted to fit 250 pages.”
Now to me, that cannot be correct, surely the template for a “Printed” book would have a spine of 125 if there is a total of 250 pages. IE: 125 sheets printed on each side.
Can you please try and explain this to me? Maybe another video opportunity for you?
@@globalselfpublishing I cannot see how that is possible. It would only be 250 pages for a kindle, NOT for a print on demand. Surely print on demand would have 125 sheets printed on both sides therefore the template would be set for 125? Am I wrong?

I was watching some of your previous videos. Then I found this video. I had taken some notes on this video.
So it wasn't that difficult to revise the information related to this video.
At the meantime I have one small question to ask from you.
Almost all of my medium content books aren't showing the important pages in default look inside feature.
"Can we request this feature (increase look inside feature) for any number of books we have?"
or
"Is there a limit given by kdp regarding the number of books we can try this (increase look inside feature)?"

Hi Damian, you can increase the % of your Look Inside to *as many* books as you like but they won't always necessarily show the 'exact' pages you want.

Yes, KDP no longer provide an ISBN for NO Content Books and no longer offer the Look Inside for No Content Books either.

Amazon KDP brought in a rule in May 2023 that stops No Content Books from offering the 'Look Inside Feature'.

I do have another question concerning the "look inside" option, however I couldn't find the relevant video on your channel - apologies if it is somewhere here and I can't see it! What concerns me is how the look inside is showing the preview of my notebooks. I was editing the margins of a template, and in Photoshop and on the pdf file, everything looks perfect. I check every file meticulously under zoom, to make sure there are no slips. However, one of the books in the look inside shows a preview with crooked lines, as if remembering the history of what I did in Photoshop. What I do is, save a high-quality pdf directly from the psd file I am working on and then I combine those files into a manuscript. Should I perhaps save the psd file into png/jpg, so that it no longer carries the photoshop information, and then save it to pdf? But then it wouldn't be anymore of high quality. Or, is the look inside option just showing distorted information, because it is only a preview, and I shouldn't be concerned at all, because the print would be all good? I hope I explained it well. Any information or clue where could I find answers would be highly appreciated, thank you very much!
Sometimes it can just be a distortion when in preview. Unless you think it is adversely impacting sales I wouldn’t be too concerned. You could always request an adjustment to say ‘20%’ or a different % to what you currently have as the look inside percentage as this can reset the ‘look-inside’ and make it look like it should?

I have ordered those books as author copies too to see how they look in print, and if all looks well I will request the % adjustment. It could potentially impact the sales as it is, but thankfully there is not much traffic yet to my books, so I have time to experiment!

Your book will continue to show a default percentage of the contents to help customers make purchasing decisions, 10% for eBooks and 20% for paperback and hardcover.

The first page of my book features a special message from me and an exclusive link for buyers to use to download a special thank you gift. I don't want the link to be shown in the Look Inside feature because it would take value away from the book, so do you have any suggestions? Thanks!
First question I always ask is, have you contacted KDP to see if you can request for a particular page not to be shown on the Look Inside?

"I would like to inform that we can remove the first page if it's getting showed in LITB feature so be rest assured.
However, I cannot make the request now as the book has not been published. Once the book is LIVE and once the LITB feature is enabled for your book you can check it. If the first page of your book is showing in LITB feature then you can write back. I will be happy to assist you again and will manually remove that page from LITB feature."
