Seeing the models standing there in stark contrast to the people behind them was just discomforting, I feel sorry for the township. It also reminded me a lot of the hunger games, they looked like someone from the Capitol visiting district 12.
+Gina Aa. Ødegaard Exactly what came to my mind. Those people's conditions are by no means desirable, but their destitution is being used like some prop to sell fashion to the wealthy - very unsettling.
Really got the sense that the people in the township didn't like their place being used as a prop. It seems that ppl that profiting off their living situation. Despite that like watching the show.
if the winner of the challenge wins an i-pad, what do the ppl of that township get? i hope proper compensation for those guys exploiting and glamorizing their poverty.
Now I'm watching till episode 6, although I think Oluchi is an incredibly talented and successful model, I feel like she's not very opinionated, and depending on fellow judges to give criticism and instructions to models. Not sure if it's the languages barrier. And as a television host, I personally think she needs to bring more vibe to the show.
these girls represent the true African beauty. In my humble opinion they all deserve to get contracts. Africa is so underrepresented in the fashion world. Love it
That was really unfair, Joyce was meant to stay. Why keep someone who's mind is somewhere else?! Everyone there has loved ones, and I am sure they all deeply love and misses their families too. So, what the heck is emotion got to do with getting the job done?!
Oluchi is soooo beautiful and sophisticated in her mannerisms, however when she speaks it's sooo cringey. U can see she's reading a script every time she talks to the camera directly. Other than that, great show. They should show this on UK television. Without Oluchi preferably.
the outfits are so colorful, pretty and African, girls with make up and hair look wonderful, especially love Michelle, she looks so funky and cute! I can see from the last shot from the first episode, girls look much more professional now as well as the makeup and the outfit of this show improved....
Am I the only one who thinks that Oluchi is a terrible host? She is blabbering a lot, messes up the models' names and sometimes she says something and laughs for no reason :D it's painful to watch at times
I like the host and the judges for they are genuinely concerned about the contestants. The contestants however seem to lack passion, drive, and enthusiasm. Are African women generally meek and quiet?
Oluchi herself doesn't seem like a lively person. The shows mood is pretty down. I think it has to do with having to speak English on the show. Sometimes it's hard to fully be yourself if you're not speaking the language you're used to. And yeah some or many Africans are conservative in nature so they "try" to be respecting one another and be proper
Dear trust me when I tell you that African women, especially Nigerian women for that matter, do not come last when it comes to having passion and drive. As for what is considered "enthusiasm", it's all relative...we are not drama queens and prefer to adhere to tradition on peaceful and respectful interactions with others.
dancenijas Thanks for clearing this up for the OP - when I read 'meek and quiet' with 'African women' I laughed so hard I almost choked to death on my coffee! It's sad that 'screeching drama queen' is now equated to drive and enthusiasm for a career wtf.
I get what your saying cause rhulani was just blah at the end she was like yeah i want it i don't know what to say i want it she had no passion about wanting to be there so i get what you mean
honestly cheandre didn't deserve to go through based on her challenge result: she didn't promote the brand properly and she was laughing in her picture...
Anita Nourmoussavi yeah she did Actually deserve to go on, she has consistently done really good and she tried on this incredibly difficult and ridiculous photoshoot
I am very disturbed that they hv a fashion shoot in a township wearing thousands of dollars of stuff and then go back to their million dollar home. Wtf? All of u people who hate on Tyra, she would never hv done that!!
at some moments this show gets borderline pants tbh... But then again it's only Cycle 1, and come to think of it Cycle 1 of America's Next Top Model was SERIOUSLY PANTS (dodges rotten tomatoes)
Can someone from Capetown answer a question for me? Did ANTM just show up and shoot or did they have to get permits and permissions? If they just showed up, I don't blame the residents for being pissed off.
I know the language they are speaking (xhosa) and from what am picking from their shouts......the photo shoot team talked with the owners of the sharks they were using but not the community that is their neighbors.....and now the residents are being told where to walk or stand whereas its their place......but seems like alcohol is also at play though..
Wow! They so sent the wrong person home in this episode! Makelah should have gone she is too timid and thinks she can stay based on her looks. It's obvious they kept Makelah because she would have come from the back and taken the lead over them all especially Michelle and Cheandre (sp).
ikr makelah shuld hv gone she prefers staying in her comfort zone she doesn't like exploring and being open minded if she has personal problems that is making her feel emotional she shuld solve that problem first.
Did they think that they could just come into someone else's home and film there without asking and those people being fine with it?! They wouldn't like it if those people came and hung around their home. Just because they are poorer than them doesn't mean they can take advantage of them! I don't know, maybe I am wrong but it is just my opinion.
Ha, Oluchi, do you mean if you were not a success story your family wouldn't love you (more)? What kind of money minded family is that? They should have paid for allocution lessons for you to begin with.
this is originally her franchise and she has sold it to other folks in other countries and henceforth she gets a compensation for it. she owns the franchise and it more or less the same thing but done out of America. there is ANTM Germany, asia, uk, Ireland, etc and Africa.
these girls represent the true African beauty. In my humble opinion they all deserve to get contracts. Africa is so underrepresented in the fashion world. Love it
I'm not surprised that the locals reacted the way they did. I'm sure the models outfits could feed the community for weeks!
This is great who else is binge-watching all of it? :D
They did the same thing on America's NTM Cycle 12 when they shot in a Brazilian favela. It drove me nuts really.
if the winner of the challenge wins an i-pad, what do the ppl of that township get? i hope proper compensation for those guys exploiting and glamorizing their poverty.
I know eh. This made me so angry. Smh
I agree that some disrespect shit
It's fashion darling, not a humanitarian project. fashion sometimes can be very cold.
kobee first, i am not your darling, and second, that doesn't mean it's morally correct to act this way.
I totally agree
Well said...
these girls represent the true African beauty. In my humble opinion they all deserve to get contracts. Africa is so underrepresented in the fashion world. Love it
This is one of the best next top model ever made! I don't understand why they did not continue this... Just 1 cycle and done.
Aw, the photographer is so nice! It was so cute how he got concerned about the safety of the models when the locals started shouting. Nice guy :)
sure he cares about the models, but he clearly doesn't give a shit about the residents of the township. he's pretty inconsiderate in that department.
thanks for uploAding! from philippines with love..
That was really unfair, Joyce was meant to stay. Why keep someone who's mind is somewhere else?! Everyone there has loved ones, and I am sure they all deeply love and misses their families too. So, what the heck is emotion got to do with getting the job done?!
What's the point of them having makeovers if they're gonna have a different wig every episode? Lmao ok
+DONATELLA look right! i thought i was the only one who noticed that
Roselyn is GORGEOUS!
Thank you for posting this show. I was watching on a site but they stopped updating the episodes.
The picture they chose for Cheandre was horrible. There must have been at least ONE better shot than that?!
It wasn't a fashion shot and she's not a fashion model!!!
Roselyn is absolutely beautiful and gorgeous! Loveeeeee heeerrrrrr! Personality she got is awesome! Outside and inside so perfect!
#Ghana
#Roselyn
totally shameful and indecent to make this ridiculous photoshot in such a deprived area...what is this world we live in...
Roselyn the gurl fr ghana is a serious contender in this contest, she might emerge the winner, my prediction.
Oluchi is soooo beautiful and sophisticated in her mannerisms, however when she speaks it's sooo cringey. U can see she's reading a script every time she talks to the camera directly. Other than that, great show. They should show this on UK television. Without Oluchi preferably.
I loved how Opoyemi said that if the goat was gonna be hard to work with it will be isi ewu something to that effect HAHAHAHAHA
did anyone else notice the van said 'WHITEBOY'on it.
I'm just happy that JOYCE had to leave after Rhulani ....since when she was very Happy when Rhulani was leaving
the township people have a right to be upset! i was liking this show until this episode.
"If you`re a Top Model, you can have 10 boyfriends" ...what the hell???? ..such a disgustingly shallow comment! :(
Aleksa Méndez. i agree
i cant believe they let her get away with saying that...
Oluchi's hair looks nice in this episode, she kind looks like Naomi there
I thought she looked a bit like Tyra tbh lol :p
Omg roselyn is sooo gorgeous *-* She could win this show
They all have natural elegance. Great bodies. I envy them
Roselyn my goodness shes gorgeous!
Hell yeah!! You really did beat me. I was about to make that same comment
the outfits are so colorful, pretty and African, girls with make up and hair look wonderful, especially love Michelle, she looks so funky and cute!
I can see from the last shot from the first episode, girls look much more professional now as well as the makeup and the outfit of this show improved....
So true
Oluchi is a successful model but not a good host for the show. Maybe they should train her or get Tyra
Am I the only one who thinks that Oluchi is a terrible host? She is blabbering a lot, messes up the models' names and sometimes she says something and laughs for no reason :D it's painful to watch at times
so creative love the whole slum and high fashion thing! Roselyn and Micheala look beautiful seriously. Bye Joycee
Michela ! Get your crap together, you're one of my favourite!
me too!!!!😙😙😙😙
I like the host and the judges for they are genuinely concerned about the contestants.
Janeth Buza yeah but she is so sweet, she even cried in the last episode to send Rhulani home and I think she is really concerned about her models
Dear trust me when I tell you that African women, especially Nigerian women for that matter, do not come last when it comes to having passion and drive. at some moments this show gets borderline pants tbh... But then again it's only Cycle 1, and come to think of it Cycle 1 of America's Next Top Model was SERIOUSLY PANTS (dodges rotten tomatoes)
this is rude to put all that excess in front of those people
Roselyn is so pretty
Michaela is the prettiest
i'm starting to like this show... when will episode 7 be aired :)
episode 7 and 8 are already out.
Can someone from Capetown answer a question for me? Did ANTM just show up and shoot or did they have to get permits and permissions? If they just showed up, I don't blame the residents for being pissed off.

Thank you.
Most are camera shy and self conscious
This Africa's NTM is so dramatic. Asia's NTM is the best.
watching in 2017?
Wow! They so sent the wrong person home in this episode! Makelah should have gone she is too timid and thinks she can stay based on her looks. It's obvious they kept Makelah because she would have come from the back and taken the lead over them all especially Michelle and Cheandre (sp).

Not every shoot is going to glamous, Models need to versatile in different ways ha even with the strange... some of these models are naive
Thanks for your video.. ^^ #fromina
Did they think that they could just come into someone else's home and film there without asking and those people being fine with it?! My favorites are Aamito and Michelle
cheandre said when she sees goats she sees food because she eats goat, but then when they were doing her makeup she said she's never eaten goat.
+tdilover24 nope, you heard it wrong, she said it referring to the other girls.
she said with Nigerian girls when they see goat they see food.
how i love feeding goats guys xem
I think they go through the pics and choose the worst one and send it to the elimination

Ha, Oluchi, do you mean if you were not a success story your family wouldn't love you (more)? What kind of money minded family is that? They should have paid for allocution lessons for you to begin with.
She said "they love me more". Anyway she can't speak without her teleprompter so maybe it was to be expeted.

Mwah
this is the most stupid idea of shooting i've ever seen/heard of
Why dos Oluchi talk like that....sounds so boring
why do stylists/directors stage shoots in the townships is SA always it doesnt look autherntic, and its dumb!
Aamito is so arrogant
They are kinda snobby :(
Aamito is so surly :/
tbh i dont like aamito
these girls represent the true African beauty. In my humble opinion they all deserve to get contracts. Africa is so underrepresented in the fashion world. Love it
