Hopefully Volcano Aso does not erupt, as the beauty looks fabulous. Not just having takana meshi can make you feel warm, but also relaxing in a private onsen/hot spring is also sensational for the weather. (I don’t think I have tried takana meshi when visiting to Kumamoto, but it delivers as a next favorite choice.)

Hello, thank you for your interest in our videos and Japan! ☺️ Unfortunately, the conditions for buying a car in Japan can be a little restrictive for short term visitors. I assume you will be using a tourist visa and not applying for short term residence in Japan? If that's the case, it's not actually legally possible to buy a car in Japan. You need to have converted your license and you also need to have a permanent parking space within 2km from your residence in Japan, which will need to be confirmed by the police. This means you need to have a registered address in the country to buy a car. Renting a pre-converted van would probably be the best option in your case. Sorry to be the bearer of bad news, but I hope you can both find a way to enjoy your travels here!
Always wanted to visit Kurokawa, that onsen looked so relaxing! I remember feeling pretty overwhelmed at Mt. Aso by the smell 😅But loved the tamago pun 😂
Definitely one of the eggier volcanoes we’ve visited 😅😂. We didn’t realise how popular Korokawa was with foreign tourists until we visited but can totally understand why! This onsen apparently had a gorgeous waterfall/river rotenburo public bath, so if you do go please try it out and report back 😂🙏
It's a shame that the mixed onsens are rare these days 😆, they used to be the norm, but there's still some around! We try to find cheap private ones when we can!

黒川温泉は１度行きましたが、日本の数ある温泉でも秘湯の雰囲気がもっとも味わえる温泉ですね。

黒川温泉は最近大変人気のある有名な温泉ですね。温泉旅館に泊まるとかなり高額な料金がかかるらしいです。公共浴場を利用して料金を安くあげたのは良いアイディアでしたね。

夏から秋にかけて、阿蘇外輪山の大観峰という場所で、
焼きトウモロコシ食べながら眺める阿蘇5岳も良いですよ。
菊池渓谷もGood！ 帰りは山鹿温泉。 熊本は良いね。
温泉入って身体を温めてからのひんやり冷たい屋外は気持ち良いですよね。
火山も温泉もイギリスにないから

We were lucky that it behaved itself for our trip so we were able to see inside the crater! I hope you get to try takana meshi someday!

As long as I know, one hotel or inn in Kurokawa has an open aired /outdoor deep Onsen which I have see on a TV programme. cheers
I think the public rotenburo at the onsen we visited is popular so it might be that one. I hope we can return to try it out someday!

山口県でも古代の阿蘇山爆発の地中層が見られますよ。
asoが本気を出せば地球が寒冷化し殺伐とした世の中になるから。阿蘇に寄った際には拝んどいて。
阿蘇で思い出した。60年くらい前小林旭のさすらいシリーズ映画。阿蘇の住民は全員ウエスタンの恰好をして、馬に乗って、全員が腰に拳銃を下げていた。阿蘇の牧場がアメリカの平原の牧場にそっくりだったから和製ウエスタンが撮られたのだった。当時でもばかばかしいことは分かっていたが、何故かカッコよかった。やたら拳銃をぶっ放す小林旭と敵の宍戸錠。牧場を見に行ってください。
最後のほうで周りの山々を見回していたけれど、かっては、それらは裾野であなた達が立っている位置は火口直下数キロの地中にあたるらしいですね。カルデラ地形と言うのだよ。

Onsens are very nice. Two regrets: it's usually very expensive. And, except private ones, they usually separate men and women.
