Hi SCD. Love your tutorial videos. They are clear and right to the point. For quite some time I have wanted to interact with ATC but there are not too many people available to properly coach the process. I figure perhaps the best way to start is using a plugin like X-Life. I was wondering if you could make a video of a flight using X-Life Deluxe using ATC communication. Thanks for what you do for the X-Plane community.

Hi, I cant get X life Deluxe showing any aircraft. Installed bluebell data. No error messages, x-life map shows airborne aircraft, but no aircraft on runways or gates. Any suggestions?

for some reason I dont have the purple lines between my taxiways or the icons of the planes when selecting gates, makes it a nightmare to do anything. any idea how to toggle them on?

Yes it will still work. X-Life comes with its own nav database.

I did everything that was instructed in the video, everything is installed in the right place, but the X-Life isn't even showing up in my plugin's menu in X-plane. Can anyone help?
Problem with add on is that flight plan does not support adding SID and STAR explicitly, has a placeholder as exact words SID and STAR. So planing the exact runway for departure and arrival is not there. Not sure why that is, as for example simbrief allows for a full path.

I used both and WT3 is shit overrated. Eats FPS and the atc is bare-bones compared to X-life pro. X-Life felt more refined in terms on airport movements.

In general that's not possible afaik. The only aircraft I know that have a usable and properly working "save in flight" function are the Toliss Airbusses, and maybe the ZIBO 737-800X (but I've never tried it in the ZIBO).

X-Life is independant of that option. X-Plane's Draw Aircraft option should be unticked when using X-Life.
Hello SCD! I was wondering if you would give me any advice about this issue!.... with free X-Life v4 in Zibo 11.51 I can hear the planes and everything but i dont see the planes moving. I get error messages related to many differetn planes that cant load. Looks like some kind of trouble with some library. Thanks in advance and Greetings!

I tried to use X-Life this week after reinstalling X-Plane and all the traffic is completely random. There's Finnair A320s at LAX and Air Malta at MEM. I have the Bluebell XL packs installed already. Do you know how to fix this issue?
I didn't use X-Life for ages. It might be an issue with it in general, or it might be scenery dependent.

Thanks! Yeah I thought about it but I didn't want to ruin my addon mappings lol. If you do the automatic scan for XP11, then the GNS430 navdata should be added to your addon mappings also. Cheers

Indeed there aren't many African airports covered unfortunately. Also buying X-Life Deluxe doesn't increase that number, the airports covered remain the same.
So I bought the deluxe version, is it normal that the AI traffic doesn't talk and also the pilot's voice is not hearable? At LSZH I get weird taxi instructions, missing taxis, also it doesn't show, which runways are in use. That's a bit odd for me. I do have the LSZH scenery. All I want is ATC that works, AI traffic that reacts to my plane, and that ATC works for me and AI traffic with all voices hearable. Seems like this is not my final solution.
Yes all you said is true. No pilot voice, AI chatter. Regarding taxi routes, all airports that I tried out were working nicely. Can't comment on LSZH now though. Cheers

Hi, the folder gns430 does not appear in my directory. What's wrong?
There is this bug where a beechcraft is stuck under some flying airplanes noses. Does anyone know how to fix this?
It reads my nav data and I can hear a plane firing up, why can't I see any aircraft? Does rendering, Vulkan or any settings have to do with it? I do not have static aircraft on and have tried using a few different airport that I didn't do any scenery for. With or without scenery, same result. What am I doing wrong? Thanks! XP11 through Steam with latestest Vulkan.
Might very likely be an issue with Vulkan. I think I read somewhere that the aircraft models aren't yet compatible.

Ich hab mir auch jetzt Xlife 4 geladen und alles so gemacht wie du aber bei mir sind alle Flieger weiß. Hin und wieder ist einer dabei der dann ne Bemalung hat aber 99% sind weiß.
Was ich halt nicht weiß ist ob XLife beim starten automatisch geladen wird oder ob man es jedes mal manuel starten muss.
Zudem wenn ich diesen GNS430 Ordner, den es bei mir nie gab, erstell und da den aktuellen AIRAC 2005 reinpacke, stürzt Xplane beim starten von XLife sofort ab
Beim start von XP11 sagt Xlife auch immer er nutzt die Daten 1201 oder so. Die Basics die halt dabei sind nicht aber den 2005. Scheint er gar nicht zu erkennen

For me very low impact, 1-2 FPS.
It seems like generic AI that doesn't need prior knowledge of the airport should be doable. I'm not a big fan of only having specific airports. I'm trying to learn how to fly small aircraft at local airports. There's only 2 towered airports I know of within 50 miles of my home town, and they're both tiny regional airports that won't be covered by anything like this.
Maybe check out Traffic Global, it's payware but covers nearly every airport on the planet, also with GA aircraft.
@@SimulationChannelDeluxe Thank you...I found LiveTraffic, which is free/open source and pulls data from OpenSky and others. So far works very well in my area, but can be a little derpy on the ground (doesn't always track the taxiways accurately, probably due to low resolution data).
Hi, thanks for the well thought out tutorial. I've just installed the latest version of X-Life Deluxe in X-Plane 11.41. Everything works but the ATC window does not auto-hide even when the auto-hide setting is enabled. Did it ever happened to you? Thanks in advance for any tips you migh have.
I haven't been using X-Life deluxe for some months now, but with the version I used back then (v280719 I think) I never had that issue. With the mouse cursor not on the X-Life window it did hide after some seconds.

ive followed this step by step and while i can hear the aircraft i cant see tthem, have the bluebell packs installed as well
so now theyre at the gate, but i see on radar planes landing and taking off but i cant see them visually
I read there's a way to auto generate ground routes for airports that aren't included, but I can't for the life of me find out how. Any ideas?
To be honest I'm hearing that for the 1st time. Afaik ground routes for X-Life can only be created via the (not so intuitive) included Editor.

I don't think so. X-Life uses its own integraded flightplan library that can't be extended afaik. Or do you mean the flightplan for YOUR own flight that you have to enter?
Simulation Channel Deluxe Yes, if I like to flight from A to B. I often do my flightplan in Simbrief. Is possible then to import this flightplan from Simbrief to X-life,? BTW, I have now purchase the X-life de Lux and looking forward to use it. I blame this to you :)
@@tommysallstedt4122 Haha okay ;) Well there is no option to directly import the simbrief flightplan into X-Life, but you can just copy the flightplan string as text format (without SID and STAR names), paste it in a text editor and save the file as "DepartureICAO""ArrivalICAO".txt. Let's for example take a FP from EDDL to EDDH, the simbrief output looks like this: MEVE3T MEVEL L179 OSN M170 BASUM Z78 WSN T903 RIBSO RIBS4A. So the text file will be called EDDLEDDH.txt with the following content: EDDL SID MEVEL L179 OSN M170 BASUM Z78 WSN T903 RIBSO STAR EDDH. If there is no airway between waypoints, e.g. BASUM WSN, then you have to insert a DCT in between, so it reads BASUM DCT WSN.
Then you have to put the text file in the plugins/X-Life/flightplans (I think it's called) folder. Then X-Life can access it from the ATC FP menu when you click "Import plan from text file". Hope it helps.

Hi Simulation Channel Deluxe. I, today, have installed and run XLife for the first time and it went awesome on KLAX and KSEA airports. Everything was perfectly aligned on default XPlane scenery/airports. However, at OMDB (Dubai) I found a huge offset. I mean planes were landing and departing slightly off the runways. It was looking like the whole airport was moved slightly towards the left and thus some aircrafts were parked away from the gates and some were half way through to the terminal building and some parked on the roof of terminal :)). I then tried to installed OMDB freeware scenery from ‘Airport Maps’ on JarDesign webpage (as you shown in this tutorial) but nothing changed. Do you know how to fix this problem? Thanks.
Then the ground routes are somehow misaligned. It can be fixed via the Airport Editor, I might do a tutorial on that as well at some point.

Hi, I have a problem. Every time I put I my own waypoints or import it from a text file and send it to atc it keeps giving me errors. How do I fix this problem? I am also using x life v4(deluxe).
Yeah one has to be very careful with the txt flight plans to not get errors. Let's assume departing EDDL and arriving EGLL, the txt file must be named EDDLEGLL.txt. The content is EDDL SID *the route* STAR EGLL. For the route I would suggest simBrief. When you have direct-to waypoints without airways, there has to be a DCT between them.
So for the EDDL-EGLL it is: EDDL SID MODRU Z717 GOBNO UZ717 MAS UM617 SOGRI UL608 SUMUM L608 LOGAN STAR EGLL
For KDTW-KEWR for example it is: KDTW SID ESSBE DCT SLT STAR KEWR

Can you add a voice pack? The standard x plane voice is a bit clumsy
Yeah X-Life ATC uses the default Windows speech synthesis engine. You might try installing different voice sets for that, but it won't improve by much I'm afraid.
Will I need to use atc when using this plugin to ensure I don’t crash into anyone?
When you purchase X-Life Deluxe, then the basic ATC will work with the traffic and also give advisories on the ground. I did never use X-Life free, so I don't know what happens without ATC. X-Plane's default ATC can't recognize the AI aircraft.
Can I make it so I get the real aircraft? Because I was at Düsseldorf, and there were United 737s and stuff like that.
X-Lifes liveries are mostly fitting for the country/airport, but it's not always 100% perfect ;)

Yes, for updated navdata you need a Navigraph subscription.

Version 4 came out quite a long time ago, July 2018 I believe.

X-Life v4 is a free update. You can remove the old version, install the new one and just register Deluxe again with the same serial number.

Can you add planes, paints, and flight plans for ai?
AFAIK, unfortuntalely not. Flight plans for the AI will be updated when updating the navdata I think, but aircraft/liveries can't be easily added. Cheers

i have the deluxe version of X-Life and I really like the ATC solution it gives, however this plugin impacts my performance way too much so I don't use it that much :/
Are you running an NVIDIA card? Did you disable "Threaded Optimization"? This gives a big performance boost on my system.
@@SimulationChannelDeluxe I have an Asus ROG 1060 6Gb but this is more of a CPU problem, my CPU is an i5 6600k and I have it overclocked at 4.2 GHz. It generally runs at 79% when I'm parked at an airport and 98% when I'm flying, and when I turn on X-Life it becomes nearly unplayable, I don't think there's anything I can do about it unfortunately...

Then the addon uses its own, outdated nav database, but that's also not bad and can be used.

Yes, the OpenSceneryX library is also required and it's a must-have library anyway: 2:15

Yes, but it's likely that the aircraft parking will not be perfectly aligned with the gates.

Vielen Dank für das Video! Habe xlife nun auch (Freeware). Am Startflughafen funktioniert alles, am Ziel lande ich alleine, es stehen keine Flugzeuge an den Gates bzw fahren auf den Taxiways, sprich XLife scheint da nicht zu funktionieren... was mache ich da falsch? Würde mich sehr über eine Antwort freuen, wenn Du eine Idee hast, danke! Gruß Andreas! (PS: Am Ziel funktioniert es, wenn ich es nochmals starte, aber ich dachte, es läuft automatisch - ich bin von Stuttgart nach Bremen geflogen, bzw Bergen Oslo)
Vielleicht weiß X-Life nicht auf welchem Airport du landen wirst und kreiert dort dann keinen Traffic. Hast du es mal mit dem (rudimentären) Flugplaner von X-Life versucht? Vielleicht klappt es nur, wenn du dort Abflug- und Ankunftsflughäfen einträgst. Grüße

Ich nutze ja die "Deluxe" Version mit ATC, wo ich sowieso immer einen kompletten Flugplan einrichte, daher weiß mein X-Life auch immer wo ich landen werde. Ich hatte das Problem daher noch nicht. Ich würde es mal wie gesagt mit dem "Lite" Flugplaner von X-Life Free versuchen.

What kind of frame rates are you getting
As I said in the video X-Life costs me 2 FPS maybe. With complex airliners I usually get 30-40 FPS, you can see my hardware and graphics settings in the description.

In X-Life's settings you can increase the air traffic density as well as how many airport gates are busy.

Ich kann scannen wie ich will, habe den Download Manager deinstalliert und neu aufgespielt, die X plane exe verlinkt, er scannt und findet nichts. Im Netz finde ich nix dazu. Was kann ich tun?
