    I play by ear, and verbal instructions supplemented by actual example are most valuable, as with this instruction. No confusing, or even contradicting instruction as with other teaching videos for this beautifully mysterious piece.

    You're explaining things like your target audience just started playing guitar whereas this song requires a decent bit of experience. Listening to teachers include massive amounts of fluff in their videos has always been a small pet peeve of mine, especially when it's extremely basic concepts and methods for a song that almost nobody who doesn't know these things should be trying to play. Otherwise great tutorial.

    • @EliteGuitarist
      @EliteGuitarist  7 лет назад +11

      Hi Gabe. Thanks for the comment. Yes, this is indeed the main purpose of these note for note tutorials. They are meant to open up the classical guitar repertoire to those who may not have the means to study the instrument in a formal setting over a period of many years. The advanced performers do not need a note for note tutorial as their reading skills are likely advanced as well. For most individuals, however, this could be very helpful in the initial acquisition of the piece. The advanced students can watch the performance preview of the piece and "plunder" musical and phrasing ideas from the actual performance. Here is the link for the performance: ruclips.net/video/N6f0JTwrAbU/видео.html
      Having said that, I have sought to include phrasing suggestions alongside the very detailed approach to teaching the piece note for note. Thank you again for the comments and we wish you great success in your musical pursuits. Send us a recording of you playing this piece; we would love to check it out.

    try to explain for someone that alrready know how to play a guitar, the way you are explaining its so slow and so 1st class guitar that its to much boring triyng to learn with this movie, this is like the 1st lesson guitar, and in the first lesson no one will learn this song, so you can go faster....

    • @EliteGuitarist
      @EliteGuitarist  6 лет назад +7

      If someone knows how to play the guitar, there is no need for a tutorial. Our desire is to bring everyone along, including beginner players. We are all in this together! These are teaching tutorials and the purpose is not to avoid boredom or entertain but rather, to effectively teach.

      Watched 3 minutes and he just started the 2nd note.
      I've been playing for 18 years and I'll be the first to say that not all good players make good teachers.
      He should understand that no one who is touching a guitar for the first time is attempting this piece. If they are, they shouldn't be.

      @@bjerk1881 Yep, I don't understand why so many virtuoso guitarists are watching a tutorial. When you are truly advanced, you just pick the sheet music and figure it out, then your teacher gives you some artistic advises. obviously this great tutorial is intended for players wanting to challenge their actual level to play such a beautiful piece. Very hard but not that fast, so it is achievable. That's why the explanation is so ample. that makes him a great teacher don't you think?

    7:37 It always baffles me when classical musicians say: “Don’t be a copycat”
    As they are literally reading someone else’s composition of a piece of paper 🤷‍♂️
    It’s such elitist behaviour.
    If you want to “make it your own” - then become a composer.
    Even then you are still going to use ideas from someone else.
    But if you just want to just play music, you HAVE TO copy other people. How else are you going to learn applying rubato and such?
    Those things don’t come by themselves.
    At some point you’re going to have to imitate someone else’s playing.
    Surely, later on you can start applying these things yourself.
    But only when you’ve mastered it.

    • @davepazz580
      @davepazz580 Год назад

      The point is to develop your own style and "interpretation" over time... it doesn't matter that it's someone else's composition.
      Guitarist David Russell once related a story about when he was a young student and played a piece for a music teacher at the music academy he was attending back then (the teacher in question was not a guitarist himself)... Russell's own interpretation of the piece was heavily influenced by an old Segovia recording, and when he played the piece in such a way, the teacher asked "Is it necessary to add so many exaggerated rubatos?"
      Russell informed the teacher that's how Segovia would play the piece, to which he replied, "That's how *he* played the piece, but I want to hear how *you* play the piece... don't play what he did, that way has already been done."
      From then on, Russell started trying to find new effective ways to interpret music...
