    One of my all time favorite history moments acted out extremely well from Mr. Nixon's autobiography. I wish I was along for this ride and I must admit, I would not have bothered with the seat belt. Secretary Henry Kissinger's expression is priceless and probably pretty accurate. I would have gotten out of the dark blue Lincoln Continental at the end of joy ride bent over laughing out loud.

    Nixon was played by actor Lane Smith. Brezhnev was played by Boris Sichkin. That Lincoln was one hell of a car.

    One would have believed Nixon and Brezhnev both knew better than sitting in a car without their seatbelts on. Well Nixon at least realized buckling up might be a good idea.
    Seems like Brezhnev was tired of all that serious political talk and decided to have a little fun. :)

      McLarenMercedes ......I went to Russia on holiday a few years back to a beach resort called Sochi .... a beautiful place. Several times we got a taxi from some bar or another and it is a great insult to the driver if you put your seat belt on! We learnt this as we went on......, the hotel owner wouldn’t let us leave the hotel in the evening until we had shared 2 vodka shots with him......and the water parks let you go down 4 people at a time.....Russia rocks! 🇷🇺

    The clip lacks an important detail: in reality, the Soviet interpreter Viktor Suhodrev also joined the two leaders, having rushed into the backseat. Although, the then USSR Ambassador to the US Anatolyi Dobrynin claims it was him who interpreted the two leaders' conversation inside the car. But in any case, there definitely was an interpreter in that car.

    There was actually a similar incident during Brezhnev’s visit in Bonn, the West-German capital. As a nice gesture, the West-German government gifted him a spanking new Mercedes. Brezhnev immediately broke it…

      Yeah for real. If an accident occurred and if anything happened to either of those men, it could've escalated the cold war quickly. Because ppl in each country ain't gonna believe their leader was "killed in an automobile accident" with just the 2 of them alone. lol

    We had him on officials visits too, and there is a video of one where he is drunk like a fool!:)

      Tak oni nám vždy ukazovali jen takového Brežněva, jak chtěli, aby působil. Silný vůdce. Ale on sám byl také člověk. Neměl rád hádky a spory, měl rád legraci. Na netu lze najít spoustu humorných scén z jeho návštěvy v USA. To nám samozřejmě nikdy neukázali.

    In the movie Frost vs Nixon this scene ACTUALLY DOES HAPPEN and the two men, Nixon and Brezhnev pull over to the side of the road and Brezhnev talks about his miserable existence.
