We are a society that bases a lot of our decisions off of logic and reason; however, when you look at many of the choices that we make with our spending it is very silly. In this video, I talk about "12 silly things people do with their money."
1. Going to a store without knowing what you’re going to buy
Shopping has become a hobby that many people have that consumes a lot of money. It is important to not get in the habit of buying things for the sake of buying.
2. Paying someone to bring you cold food
Delivery apps are costly and might take the same amount of time than just picking up the food yourself. Also, when using these apps, by the time it gets to your house the food might be cold.
3. Car Payment Addictions
Many people consistently have a car payment where they'll spend a lot of time paying off the car and when they're finished they will get a new car. If you take care of the car, then the car will last a long time and you can avoid the car payment.
4. Upgrade addictions
Upgrading items like a phone has become a huge trend; however, a new version of something is often not that different from the old version. Upgrading is a never ending cycle as companies continue to create new models every year.
5. Getting congratulated for purchasing something
Many times when you buy an expensive item, you might receive a "congratulations" for your purchase; however, this only occurs when it is an expensive item.
6. Paying more for words
Words are powerful and people will pay top dollar when they hear certain words. Many words are often just empty and do not mean that the quality is any better.
7. Payment plans for something under $100
Understanding the difference between a want and a need is very important to avoid getting in debt. Companies often offer buying something (regardless of how expensive it is) in a payment plan, but it is silly to get a payment plan for a want.
8. Getting big houses to only use 20% of the space
Many people dream of owning a big home with a bunch of space; however, there is only so much space that can be occupied. The rest of the space goes wasted and costs money.
9. Paying 2000 times more for a public resource that’s basically free
People often drink bottled water over tap water thinking that it is better; however, 64% of bottled water is just filtered tap water and costs 2000 times more.

10. Pay more money to avoid simple tasks
We often seek convenience to avoid doing certain tasks, but many tasks that are commonly avoided, like making coffee in the morning, cost a lot of money and can easily be done with little effort.
11. Putting a lot of unnecessary stress on yourself
Money is the root for a lot of stress that we have in life, but I think that many stresses that we have are self imposed and come directly from a highly consumptive lifestyle.
12. Living life on a bet
"The biggest risk in life is not doing what you want on the bet that you can buy yourself the freedom to do it later." We often think that we are guaranteed to live to old age and put off our dreams, but all we have is the present and we need to remember that the future is not guaranteed.
