I'm any side on the defence, and I'm known in my team for throwing really long lengths, interceptions and hard passes. If anyone wants to know tactics for interception, I stay a metre away or more from my opponent so the person with the ball thinks they're free and I can jump and get it. It works for me quite easily, but I'm above average in height and I can be quite aggressive, by that I mean I will jump in front of a player or do whatever I must to get the ball. If you want to throw and make your aim perfect, there is one thing I know must people do that you should definitely stop. When you throw, (if it's not a chest pass) don't put another hand on the front of the ball! Only use one hand. You will notice better aiming as the ball won't have opportunities to go in many directions, and your passes will be nice and firm. That's all I've got for now, and thanks for the defending tips intosport!
I find that once you get into the older teams, shooters aren’t put off by a defender putting their arm up because they’ve had that for years. What’s more distracting is a defender that stands and tries to block their pass off. Eliminating the option to pass the ball off puts more pressure on the shot, meaning they are more likely to mess it up, and if the defender is in the right position, they can easily get the rebound. Also the differing defending technique alone can confuse the shooters and put them off their shot.
I play GK and my go to defence and personal preference is to go with the lean technique. I find it most affective to use the jump as a surprise element. They would be expecting me to lean thus it is more distracting when I jump and from there on they aren’t sure which I’ll go for. I find that if your normal defence is the jump then the shooter expects you to do so and will automatically wait until you have jumped to shoot
I have watched this video several times, it really helps. I play GD and sometimes GA. I need to work on not getting too close to the player when defending them, but trying to improve.
What about on the jump defense tactic and you land within 0.9 before they shoot, isnt that then obstruction. in the video both examples they landed closer than 0.9 before the shooter released the ball but the foul was not called?
Thx sooooo much!!! For inter school sport I chose a sport for rec club which is just playing board games and just casual stuff, and my 2nd choice was net ball and I chose that for 2nd because last year I would get screamed at by this really MEAN teacher just because she never taught me how to play net ball properly and she expected to know everything which really ticked me right off!!!!!!!!! But I got put in the first net ball group😐 so... you now what I, not ganna be asking to get put into another group because there was no red club this semester. I'm just ganna do it so this video has saved my butt!!
I'm a coach. The skill that I try to impart to my defenders MUST take root in the strongest muscle in the human body. Firstly, understand that any opponent with the ball can only pass to 6 others- ignore 1/3s- whilst the defenders have 9 players. Understood entirely, then defending, and your particular role, takes on a whole different meaning with the concept of 9 v 6. Secondly, know what you're trying to achieve at all times and be able to explain -to me- what it is that you are trying to accomplish. Whether it be arms over the ball or whatever, you will need to be able to tell me about your intent. Thirdly, have a small target, e.g. 3, 4 etc, that the team defensive unit is targeting, and literally count every missed shot and turnover as a part of that target. Fourthly - there are more - do not obstruct as it breaks down the 9 v 6 advantage. Plus, it's a waste of money to be standing 'beside-and-away, and if I was a parent paying your fees, I'd be pissed off if my daughter was standing beside-and-away......

Thank you so so much
how do you get away or reposition on the circle when the defending centre is an excellent defender
Try a roll off or (simpler) pretend to go one way and then run the other. Or you could get out the way so there is more space. All work!
I wanna to the best netball player . I play GA or GS . From Malaysia []

I play netbal G.K and C. Good tips..
