  • The Houston Rockets have decided: Alperen Sengun is their franchise player. With Ime Udoka taking over as a head coach and Fred Van Vleet as his new point guard, Sengun’s role has gotten much more important offensively. In this video, BasketNews’ Augustas Suliauskas takes a look at how Sengun can become an All-Star with a Jokic-type role this season.

Coach Idoka and Fred Van Vleet are SMART and know how to utilize him effectively. Jokic has proven that he can dominate the game with his many many skills. His numbers will be 19.5 points, 10.5 rebounds, 7 Assists and 3 blocks&steals by the end of this year. He may even lead the team on almost all categories. I think he can do that 60%, 35% and 80%. These stats are better than Sabonis who was an all star last season. If Houston is at 6th place or higher by all star break; Alperen will definitely be an all star this season. Houston must agree on an offensive hierarchy asap though. And either Jalen Green or FVV has to have Jamal Murray like numbers asap.

Being a good passer takes skill. Being a good playmaker takes IQ. There have been big men with high IQ in the past, but we are all aware that big men are valuable to a team even without it due to their physical advantages, and thus, the floor level of skill/IQ required of a big man in order to crack the rotation is lower than that of guards, who provide less value without them.

he is already passable on defense he doesnt need to be elite defender as every player have them flaws. and tbh he will never be an elite defender but he would easily play his role within a defensive scheme as he is a smart guy. just shoting 3s to keep defense honest will turn him an offensive monster and he will end his career as 6-7 times all-star and as all-NBA probably. he is just 21.

His other weakness is 3 points... but he plays much better defense than in the first two years and he tries a lot of shots... I'm not sure about this season, but next season he'll be an All Star.

Yeah honestly following the serb. As a spanish guy he is clearly the best player in the Rockets. With players around that were more efficient (all the starting lineup outside of him is super inneficient) he will probably avarage this season around 8 or 9 assists. He needs to get more rebounds and/or have a greter defensive presence. Outside of that he is nearly elite already.

Wasn't a critiue on FVF is that he sucked with the pick'n roll and two-man game, in Toronto? Small sample size but both him and Coach Nurse seem to be doing fine while the Raptors are floundring. FVF never had an adequate big man to do the 2-man game wit in Toronto. Also, funny how he is running point in Houston, it appears to be just fine, when in Toronto he was knocked for not having that that skill set.

Best big men nowadays are mostly foreigners. Cousins was there but unfortunately got hurt and never got back to where he was. Last solid big America had was probably Shaq. I give prime howard his flowers too I guess. But yeah it’s been that long already. There would be one day where europeans get as athletic as americans. You know it’s a problem when skill and athleticism go in one.

man, take it easy with that.
jokic is a 2 times mvp and finals mvp.
how many players in history have that?
better than joker it means to be top 8 centers of all time.
he's good, but man, you are talking crazy :)

After he gets his 50th triple double you can start hoping for some similarities, but you need for at least 1MVP and 1 conference final MVP to make a much more humble statement!Like,Hopefully he doesn't get injured and gets to play almost every game, have so much gravity and break Wilts records, gets MJs winshare states, create a team that emulates positionless basketball, then you can say,he's learning how to play in a similar way to Jokic!
That's like climbing K2 in sandals!
