    45 minutes from interstate? Maybe 20. Most of the time Dearborn street is a ghost town, but i like the peace and quiet for a relaxing motorcycle ride.

    I moved to Englewood sight unseen, 12 years ago. I picked it randomly online because it's very safe. It's peaceful until snowbird season then it's super irritating because it's over run with seniors and the beach parking is horrible. Restaurants are booked. Not much for kids here. Summer is really great though as far as peace and quiet. People aren't very outgoing and friendly. But it's beautiful here. Pretty parks, nature trails and glorious waters. If you come to visit you'd have to go to Venice or Sarasota for non-water activities. Both close proximity. Rents can be very high here. Thrift shops are the best! Boca Grande close by (6.00 bridge fee) and full of history. Libraries are nice. If you want nightlife and alot for kids, It is very safe though, and great for boating. I moved to Bradenton Anna Maria for a year and honestly it was way friendlier. But Englewood has the quaint beach town feel. Watch the driving though...lol. You have the seniors and the aggravated by the snowbirds) locals. Its a terrible place to date or make friends unless you are a bar person though. Lonely here 12 years other than my kids, so make sure you bring your own peeps. Lol. Not great for work unless you are blue collar or in restaurant work.
    Sunsets are amazing. Water gorgeous in summer.

      Meant to say if you want nightlife and much for kids to do other than the beach or fishing it isn't the place. However, to be a. Kid in Englewood and learning to surf and fish and work hard it's the place. Many areas near the beach that are also suitable to keep chickens goats horses cows etc. Beautiful land in Englewood.

    Dearborn Street to I-75 via FL 776 and Jacaranda Blvd. is only 12 miles.
    As for quiet that goes down hill real fast during snowbird season when the size of the town quadruples and the traffic is horrendous. It’s a great town but developers are hellbent on ruining it.

    been in this town for almost thirty five years and I absolutely love it. I literally live in the old Englewood House studio apt and I had a problem for about three years but eventually got rid of all the homeless drug people that used to wander through here all hours of the night. It's a quaint little town for sure as the saying goes it's a fishing town with a drinking problem just kidding...

    Correct pronunciation Of Englewood, FL is "Angle-Wood" you are saying Inglewood (as in Inglewood, CA) ruclips.net/video/8p7vuYWXBSk/видео.html

    • @val058
      @val058 2 месяца назад

      @@willismanning27 when some-- people pronounce it as you say, then it is being said identical to Inglewood, that is a city in California and they are saying it wrong. Pronouncing it with a hard E as you say is identical sound as pronouncing Inglewood properly. It gets a bit tricky but both towns cannot have the same pronunciation.

    • @val058
      @val058 2 месяца назад

      @@willismanning27 I'm older and know Englewood quite well since 1980. Possibly you may also pronounce "decided" as "decid-itt", rolling off the hard D at the very end. Am I right? In such cases other nuances may be escaping you. I am accomplished in linguistics and language studies. You possibly haven't listened close. For an example: I'm sure this girl in the link I paste knows where she is from so you can concentrate on her pronunciation of a completely different place as compared to the man's pronunciation in this video and see they are quite identical. One of them, therefore, is incorrect. Also, please note there is no such way to pronounce a hard E such as in the word EE-agle (Eagle) for Englewood. It cannot be done. The closest that can be done is to use a "soft i" such as "ingratiate" Also understand that Inglewood, CA is widely known and has been heard mentioned nationally whereas Englewood is virtually unknown to the world. If some younger locals mispronounce, remembering hearing Inglewood in their past, then they are perpetuating the error for our local town. Ask some town elders. Its all quite simple. ruclips.net/video/0se3jcA5bfQ/видео.html
