I've run Lake Erie at 65 Knots full speed in my Donzi and I can tell you the short abrupt choppy wave this shallow lake produces on a breezy day are brutal! Your boat becomes airborne off the top of the first wave them slams into the next wave with a force that can break bones! These days the boats are capable of racing at speeds of 120 knots plus! An hours worth of racing at this pace, on this lake, are exhausting!

I've been in some really fast boats and always wonder why they don't have suspension under the seats like semi trucks have. It would save you're back and make recreation boating much more fun.

How much faster would a 41’ or 47’ Apache be in these conditions?

A lake race. Cool. Flat water, lots of speed. Nope. It’s Great Lakes. Unpredictable as the Ocean. In that pounding, how do you hang on, let alone hang on to the wheel or throttle to keep control? That’s winning!

I have never understood why they don`t use rev limiters? no human can react as quick as an electronic device.

It’s a shame that the only people who can both afford and desire to be in this this sport are self-made old white men. Every credit to them for their endeavours, but they don’t make it either appealing or particularly sexy in the same way as other motorsports. Great coverage

Back in the day you had Don Johnson…….Kurt Russell and Chuck Norris…….sexy enough?
