Half of the GMAT candidates fail because they don’t study well, most don’t have time to study as they combine work and studying, it doesn’t mean they don’t know what they’re doing.
Yes you’re correct, I didn’t study as much as I wanted cuz I had bills to pay so I needed to work, I thank God almighty for sending Richard brown my way if not for him I would have failed again.
Hi Heinrich, Thank you so much for your video. I just decided I wanted to do the GMAT and went all over the Google, RUclips, IG, to find a good start to finish explanation for it, by far this video was the best.
What im doing for the gmat is follow a 8 week study plan, and since I'm just like you (I'm not able to fully concentrate to study after work) I decided to change my routine. So I study from 6am to 9am every week day, which makes a looooot more sense to me. I can learn much better at time time. I feel that these 3h in the morning are better than 5h I'd get in the end of the day. On the weekends I study 5h or 6h a day. And to add on that I took 10 vacation days leading up to my gmat date, so I can focus to study full-time. Wish me luck, my exam date is 21/10/2020 📚🤓 By the way, I'll be applying to schools in Germany (ESMT, hhl and WHU), so I'm aiming 650 on the gmat 😊
Not even done with the video yet, and already have received massive value! Love the tip on keeping it fun. This is a very serious test for us all, but it's important to enjoy the journey. Happy test taking!
Hi Heinrich, thanks for the video. To prepare for the exam I searched many sites and materials and this is the most informative. It really helped me in my studies. Much appreciated.
THANK YOU. Everyone saying I need to study 6-8 months for this. I don’t see how studying one hour per evening in a span of 6 months is better than studying 8-9 hours a day for a month straight.
Good point, I think it has to do with long term and short term memory thing? Also for me, it's hard to study more than 6 or 7 hours a day. Even under 6-7 hours I still have problem recalling what I study. But I guess every person is different or it could be the learning technique that's different.
Amazing. Didn‘t believe that someone can make it into Harvard with a GMAT of only 590. This is very impressive. Do you have any glue how this guy accomplished this?
Hi, indeed pretty special :) Have the impression that the schools try to on purpose admit some people with low GMATs just to prove the point that a high GMAT is not absolutely required. Thank you for your video! I’m taking my gmat test in a week. I studied all the Manhattan strategy books and did exercises from the OG books. My first mock was around 600. Here are my questions: - What would you suggest to do for the next 7 days? - Should I buy the economist gmat tutor? Did you use it? - How can I understand which ones are my weaknesses I should focus on? Every tutor say that it’s impossible to increase +100 in a week, but you made it! So I hope I can get some better insights :) thank you!
Hi Giada, Thanks for your comment! Would NOT buy the economist gmat tutor for only 7 days. It is not long enough to make best use of it. Also make sure to not do a mock exam in the 1-2 days before the exam to not stress you out and exhaust you too much. What mock test did you take, they usually come with an analysis in the end showing you in which area you performed well and not well? This can be a starting point for your weaknesses to further improve. Yes, very confident that you can improve by more than 100 in a week, though of course also depends on how much time you already invested. Lots of success to you!! Best, Heinrich
Great video,... when I finished my undergrad (business admin) GMAT was a real issue (2013)... Today in 2020 (after an IT MSc.) I would strongly recommend: Instead of GMAT get yourself as much technical skills as possible (programming, database, IT security, basic IT understanding...) instead of doing GMAT & MBA. In the future companies need lesser and lesser people who "make powerpoints" but more managers (even on the business side) who understand tech in depth!. However if you do a GMAT follow this video, Heinrich does a great job!! Especially seeing the benefits in a GMAT is good. Especially important is: invest full time for GMAT... Hi Shubham, thank you! Great to hear you find it helpful! Re 1) this will very much depend on how much time to have to prepare. @@FirmLearning thanks buddy... Let's me start with Manhattan first.. If I will find that it is little harder level than any other book which you can suggest specially for verbal?
Hi Hienrich! A very resourceful video. I just started with GMAT prep and on the verge of finishing my basics. Do you suggest I finish the OG questions and then move on to Manhattan questions? I have heard that Manhattan usually starts at a higher level.
Would probably work with the books in parallel (spend some time on the OG things, then on Manhattan etc.) - think it does not hurt to mix it up. Best! Heinrich
Thank you for the video, Heinrich. The honestly of your GMAT prep efforts is evident from this video. I'm in a somewhat similar situation here - I have about a month to prepare for my GMAT. I have started with the official guides, but then I realized that I needed a structured and guided approach, and hence I purchased the online course by e-GMAT. My question to you is this - will it be worth my time if buy the Manhattan prep advanced books to prep for harder questions? Will there not be information overload, given the fact that I have just about a month for preparation?
Hi Rajanya, thank you! Yes that sounds indeed like a challenging but absolutely realistic task. As I did not take the e-GMAT course, I do not know exactly what is covered in there and what the value add of additional material would be. In general, I did very much like the Manhattan material however and would always use it again if I would prepare for the GMAT. If you can afford it, I would therefore recommend to get it. 2.) Right now I am building my GMAT concepts, Are Manhattan books are sufficient to build concept, make notes and read theory parts (For both Quant and Verbal from basic to advance) or I need to buy anything else?
Hi Shubham, thank you! Great to hear you find it helpful! Re 1) this will very much depend on how much time to have to prepare. Improving intrinsic English skills often helps, if you have enough time. Reading relevant magazines such as The Economist on a regular basis might help. Re 2), yes, personally I did find the Manhattan Strategy Series books very helpful to build the relevant knowledge! Best, Heinrich
@@FirmLearning thanks buddy...
Let's me start with Manhattan first.. If I will find that it is little harder level than any other book which you can suggest specially for verbal?
Very useful, thank you
Hi Hienrich!
Best! Heinrich
Hey! I bought a verbal material that I'm no longer using. If you would like to use it, I can share it with you. Let me know at singmanu9428@gmail.com.
Best, Heinrich

Hello, it is a great video. Thanks much! Is it correct that you used 2015 official guide? Or, did you use the latest one?
Thank you. If you were to recommend a resource that is all encompassing, which would it be?
Thanks for the video. What about the Princeton GMAT Review Book? Would you recommend it?
Hi Stephan, have not worked with it, so cannot judge :) Best, H
Hi, this video truly gives many valuable advices and insights. Thanks for that! But did you learn straight with the questions or firstly read about the basics eg in mathematics etc which is in the gmat prep included?
Hi! I always started with learning some theory, and then moving into practice! Best, Heinrich
Hello Heinrich, do you remember in what order did you started solving the books plus the mock exams? As well thank you for this amazing video!
Hi Adrian, did not really worked with them one after each other, but rather in parallel. The Manhattan book series was the one I worked with most though. Best! H
Hi Heinrich. I would love to have a chat and get your insight on how you decided on a MBA program. I live in Eindhoven, Netherlands and was looking to get in to MaastrichtMBA program. Do you have any advice?
great video, thank u sir ..
Thanks Sumit! Best, Heinrich
He went to Mac Kinsey. That speaks a lot
Thanks for watching Erika! :) Best, Heinrich
@@FirmLearning how long was your resume, would like to know!
Hi Heinrich
Did you work inbetween your studies or did you go straight from your undergraduate-degree to the master?
Hi! Did directly do my Master after the undergraduate degree. However, worked for ~2 years after that before I then completed my MBA. Best!
Do you have your three week schedule for studying for the GMAT? Would love to copy your calendar plan for my exam studies.
Hello, thank you for the video. I have a question for you, did you study for the whole 21 days or did you take 1-2 days break during weekend?
Hi Henrich, do you think the Manhattan Books are still relevant for GMAT in 2022? This video is from 2020 and I am wondering as I couldn't find any new edition from Manhattan prep :)
Hi! While I did not actively research new prep material at the moment, not aware of any changes why Manhattan books would not be relevant anymore. Of course they will have updated versions of their material as well, but in pricniple would still trust them. Best! Heinrich
does it makes sence to buy books of the past years?
Hi Heinrich,
I have my Gmat exam in 3 weeks and I scored 550 on my last practice test. I think my verbal section needs little more practice-- specifically the reading comprehension part. Can you please advise some material which can help me ace the verbal part of the test in this limited time frame. Also, do you think that 3 weeks is sufficient time to score 700+ on GMAT with my current score on practice test?
Thanks!
Thank you for watching and apologies for the late reply! I hope you were able to prepare well!
Thankyou for the information 👍
Thanks for watching :)
Thanks for the advice. What do you think of the Princeton review gmat 700+ course?
Hi Vibhu, thanks for the comment. To be honest, I am not familiar with this course, therefore do not want to judge it. Lots of success to you! Heinrich
very useful!
Hi,
I have already done my masters however I need to take a gmat test for a PhD. Do you recommend only practicing the OG guide?
