She doesn't just play the violin all day. She plays piano too. See my other videos :-) She's also a "straight A" student, and she was the fastest sprinter in her 3rd & 4th grade class. Among other things she enjoys are: figure skating, snorkeling, skiing, swimming, bicycling, reading, praying, traveling, attending local ballets and operas, G-rated movies, and playing Nintendo games.
Another powerful and wonderfully expressive performance Valerie and with that captivating smile making it just perfect. Congratulations. In tune Lalita
well i know she's now 16 and 3yrs older than me. She's really been an inspiration for me as a musician. Without her I would've just quit music. Dominique and Valerie really taught me a thing about juggling perfect performance, school, and music.
Everybody thinks she is amazing because she is amazing. I've been listening to her for the past year now or so, and she's actually only been playing for 2 1/2 years. And she doesn't look cocky, she's confident, which is something you obviously lack since you feel threatened and your insecurity leads you to criticize other musicians. I'm sure you are talented, let's see some of your work Silverfind.
@MrTheviolindude Just because she's real good at doing one thing, doesn't mean that she's only good at that. And it doesn't mean she spends whole day doing it. How do you know if she socialise or not? Don't just ASSUME when you're judging a person. Free to think, but keep it to yourself.
BAHAHAHAAH the composer must have been absolutely enthused and delighted to welcome an obvious talent level of a future Julliard alum -should she choose to be-. I would've loved to have been a member of that orchestra; it must have been very inspirational for the other members.
What a *MARVEL*! Well done and keep up the fantastic work: One day you will contribute to musical history, I am sure. What musicality for a 9-year-old! JungKim2020: No justification needed: I truly believe gifts like this are Heaven-sent... =)
shes good for a young girl, but her intonations were kinda troubled....,but she was really confinden that thats good. and a question, was she indulged in music and smiling or was like giving back smiles with a conductor??
Valerie is incredibly talented and I would never have expected this quality of performance from a nine year old. However, she has made some mistakes+ some flawed playing where the orchestra is much louder than the soloist. A good practice piece for her at this age, but not for performance. It should've waited just half a year (her Symphonie Espagnole was perfect!!) , and she could've played this with the San Diego Youth Symphony and not just a string orchestra for kids in a refined tone for a flawless performance.
But by telling her "Oh you're so amazing and great!" you're raising her up on a pedestal that she doesn't need to be on. Not only that, she still has a lot to learn. Yes, she will be great if she continues to work and practice as she has, but there is still a lot of groundwork to cover. There is the ongoing debate about what to allow small children to play. I'm not sure what I believe, but I'm leaning towards agreeing with 1408CM. Valerie has much to learn, as we all do.
This young lady is SO talented... But her violin teacher should be slapped. Over half of the bowings and fingerings only work to her disadvantage in this piece. The fact that this violinist pulled it off despite all of those obstacles (that didn't even need to be there) makes her even more impressive. Bravissima!
get a better orchestra hehe. some notes still out of tune. before it becomes a bad habit, drill intonation so you recognize if something's out of tune. is valerie in this orchestra?
her age of 9 she is very good. if someone is not happy jealousy may be?. i don't blame them because i feel jealousy too. i am glad she didn't play etude on the stage, she might done many etudes too old school said etudes improves faster. but now a days most of teachers recommend susuki not keiser. students have right to enjoy, don't they? enjoy takes to practice more. music supposed to be fun!
yea - so you are 13 and your parent is 25 - uh huh, sure. to post a video, upload the video on your computer and save it somewhere on the hard drive. go to your youtube account, and click "upload" a yellow button on the top right hand page of your homepage. Then follow the steps!
okay mr. smarty pants. Besides the factat she's nin and playing better than most college violinists, there's nothing really wrong her. I'm really doubting that she's socially awkward just because she plays the violin. And who are to bring down a nine year old girl?
I also want to mention that there is a good way to critique people, where it encourages and doesn't put down others, and there is a very immature and childish way, which is what you are doing. I highly doubt you are 25, and if you are, that is pretty sad because of your lack of maturity. It seems they are open to criticism and suggestions, as other viewers have been doing. I've read your other comments "she looks disgusting, etc" you really need to get a life.

But she has only played for 2years.
