I bought one and will be very careful regarding SWR & power fed into the amp by my rig.
My Qrp rig is an old ubitx & bitx40. They are supposed to output 7 watts. My crappy meter says 5 watts on the bitx40, so to be safe I ordered a 3db in line attenuator.

I'm going to put together a setup with a mini usdx, an ATU100 coupler and a BJ300 linear amplifier. Is any linear modification necessary due to SWR or does the coupler mitigate this problem?

Since BJ300 goes to 300W your ATU-100 handles only 100W, so it will surely blow up if you put the ATU-100 between LA and antenna. Put the ATU-100 between USDX and LA. Hope your antenna is well tuned, high SWR can easily blow up the finals. Doesn't look like BJ300 has any inbuilt protection built. Check once.
