Thank you for your service to your RUclips community. I greatly enjoy your channel. I grew up on a farm but didn't have much use for it. Now that I'm older (60) I'm finding I'm drawn to growing things. Your channel has helped me a lot.
Me too!! I completely agree, Mike is the best teacher! I've learned so much about taking cuttings & getting new plants just from cutting back my own shrubs, something I have to do anyway!! THANK YOU MIKE!!!!
Been going through your cuttings videos....just had an idea for you. Attach a thin piece aluminum or plastic to the edge of you 2x4 spacer, so that it sticks down a couple inches along the whole length. Then when you press it into the sand, it makes the spacing and digs the trench at the same time...saves you 30 seconds on each row.
Hi Mike, thank you for all the information that you share with so many of us. I am new to gardening and appreciate you so much. I have a request for some comfrey. I can’t find it anywhere close to me. Would you please, please sale me some? Thank you
Great info once again! Thank you so much! I'm curious, though, why it's better to have the rooted cuttings heeled in a pot instead of just leaving them in the sand they grew in. I'm guessing because it disturbs their roots less? Thanks again!
PLEASE do a video of you taking the rooting cuttings out of one of these beds. I seen your video where you dump a pot out and separate them, but am curious how you go about it in one of these beds. Thanks in advance.
I see this space is getting a fair amount of sun and wind. I don't see any shade or frames? Do you protect them with shade after they're stuck? Plastic over winter? My growing space is wide out in the open, very hot when June comes and smack dab in the middle of a wind tunnel. Been having less luck as the years go by trying to protect my cuttings. Maybe I'm trying too hard.
Hi Mike, thanks so much for all the advice. I adore plants they bring peace and harmony to my home. This is probably a silly question but when you propagate do you just put normal sand and nothing else? And what type of sand do you use. Have a good day.
Your channels was recommended by a new acquaintance. I have watched a few of your videos , they are great so far. :). What type of sand are you using in your beds.
Hi Mike I want to copy what your doing but all those cuttings I’m not familiar to those plants. I live in Australia it’s August 8 and we’re on our second week of Winter.
joelyboyblue pots work well but need to be placed into a cold frame to keep from drying out over winter. Things tend to over winter much much better in sand beds rather than in pots.

DeadZone318 I’m curious to see this, too. I can’t find that step either.

Great video, enjoyed seeing the rooting beds, do you provide any shading or poly cover over the cuttings? How often do you mist?

Hey Mike!
Do the hardwood cuttings survive the freezing temps of winter in sand like you show them here?
Hi Mike what kind of Sand you use for your cutting bed? Thanks
