    Retro gaming nostalgia overload! It’s amazing how good they built these consoles. The fact that they still work decades after is mind-blowing. Me and my brother have an NES in our collection too. Have fun with your system and great video as always!

      The consoles work too bad the battery in all the games are dying now and have been for years which means u can’t save ur games, however a quick solution is to remove the battery and install a new one for another 30 years

    I'll never forget the Christmas I got my NES. My mom was a single parent, so we never had much money. Getting a Nintendo as a gift was pretty much out of the question as they were just too expensive. However, with some help from family and friends, my mom was able to get us a Nintendo that Christmas. Wow, what a surprise that was! This really brought back some great memories!

      I had a similar upbringing. single mom on a fixed income. it took me 3 years to convince her to get me one. We had a local chain of stores called Jamesway. there were two of them. one in the mall and one across town. The day I got my NES it was April '89 at the Jamesway in the mall. they were having a sale on it. meanwhile the Jamesway across town was burning down. i'll never forget that day. hooking it up to our ancient 1974 RCA TV. I hooked it up myself. bad connections, the picture was fuzzy, but it worked!

      Never blow into the cartridges! The water vapor from your breath helps make a better connection, but can ultimately damage the cartridge.

    Nintendo has been around since the 1890's. They used to make hanafuda (Japanese flower) playing cards and their most popular set (drumroll) had Disney characters on them! The Famicom was kinda neat, the 2nd controller has a microphone and Zelda used it. There was a character in the game called "Pols Voice" who would be scared away if you yelled into the mic. Anyway, looking forward to more video game content from you. :D

    My goodness... when life was simpler as a child... I have fond memories of having competitions with my brothers alongside with my mom, who often times would beat us on Mario Bros. She had no idea what she was doing, but just pushing buttons and beginner's luck! Great memories!

    I'll never forget when my dad brought the Nintendo home for us one random day in 1985. I was only 7, but I knew we were poor, so this was a BIG deal for us. (My mom wasn't too happy he bought it, lol) We then proceeded to spend the next decade fighting with him over playing "next." LOL, my dad was a big kid... his favorite was probably Mike Tyson's Knock Out. Aside from Super Mario Bros, my favorite was Excitebike. I didn't really know what I was doing, but boy did I love designing the track :)

    My parents were broke but we always had the essentials like roof over our heads and food on the table
    My cousins didn't want to have anything to do with me but a select few became my friends.
    So when my parents surprised me with a freaking NES (despite there being super nintendo and sega's at the time)
    I was so happy I was crying. I believe I was 6 or 7 years.old.

      Same with me. We got a nes when the super nes came out. I got a genesis when the 64 came out, we were always one generation behind and happy as hell to have it. I try to explain it to my son how lucky he is to have not one but 2 curent gen console's. He appreciates it but dosnt know the struggle. Lol.

      Agreed, I’m a thumbs person myself. But I guess if it works for you, then have at it. I was more distracted by the stretch on the screen. It was like watching the game through a fisheye lens. Needs to choose a 4:3 ratio.

I thought of Jerry at the beginning of this video because he has featured this store before and then what a surprise to see him in your vlog Adam.     If the games got dirty and wouldn’t work I remember I’d take a q tip and dip in rubbing alcohol then wipe the inner cartridge. Games worked after that

    So much nostalgia. I wish there were stores like this around me. There used to be two retro video games stores nearby, but sadly both closed. The last one closed due to robberies, and also COVID complications. Now there are no more stores nearby that take or sell vintage games. :'(

      @@bigdawg8412 exactly blowing on the cartridge's can actually cause rust damage on the pin connectors so use rubbing alcohol and a q-tip thats the best way to clean nes games.

      Holding the controller like that was the 80s version of reverse camera control. It is very weird but many people do this.

    I remember playing Nintendo for hours and hours in the mid-1980s. Awesome memories of when life was so much simpler, a lot more fun, with no bills to pay just playing games for hours on end.

    I remember the Zelda NES game. It had a gold case unlike the typical gray. The neatest part was that it had a chip in it that allowed you to save your progress unlike the other NES games where you had to play the whole game in one sitting because you couldn't save.

      It wasn't a chip, it was a calculator battery to keep the cartridge energized just enough to keep your progress.

    The tv picture looks odd because it’s on “pan and scan” or something similar. It’s stretching the edges of the picture to fill the screen. You can turn that setting off.

    Although the SNES is my favorite console of all time, I think the NES might have had the biggest impact on me and my love for video games. I had an Atari 2600 from 1983 to 1988/89, but the NES was a huge step in the evolution of video games. Super Mario Bros, the Legend of Zelda, Castlevania, Mega Man, etc. It was such a fantastic console, and it's too bad collectors have forced the over inflation of prices of retro games.

      I saw a lot of kids in the late 80's hold their NES controllers like that. It's a lot more common than you think.

      we called this "claw-style" when we were kids. usually the hardcore gam3r guys would hold it like this and claim it had an advantage.

    The quality of those cartridges in that guy's store was astounding. I'm a collector, and it's hard to see quality that good and clean.

    I love this video! The cool thing and coincidence is that I just brought my NES out of the attic after 20 years and started playing with it 2 weeks ago. I am now learning piano using the Miracle that uses the NES that I got for Christmas in 1990. Thanks Adam!!!

    If you haven’t already, your tv is stretching the image to fit the game, there may be a setting to change it to the original 4:3 aspect ratio. I also saw that Pixel’s has Archon, great classic game! It’s like chess but you actually battle to win your moves.

      Beyond good.adam is doing great.he inspired me. To lose weight. But i was starving myself. I lost 20 lbs my 1st month. And i work out 2 hours a day. My mental health has been better . just from lifting weights. Very proud of adam.!!

    Great video! I turned 30 this year and I've been collecting NES games for 20 years or so. I have about 180 NES games. No duplicates! My NES also works the same being that the games don't need to be pushed down to work

    That weird rubber band stretchy then stretch back effect on your screen has to do with a setting on the TV. Can't remember exactly which. Might be worth getting an old CRT TV so you can play Duck Hunt, heck...just play them all on it!

      It has to do with the aspect ratio and can easily be changed.

      Should be a 4:3 setting in the menu. That stretch is horrible, I still can’t believe any tv ever used that method of filling a screen.

      a CRT TV would also have a cleaner picture without the LCD upscaling/interpolation visual artifacts _and_ not have the 1-2 frames of input lag that LCD tvs have, CRT is 100% superior way to play these old consoles but i guess if Adam just wants to blow off steam and relive some gaming memories the LCD tv is "good enough"

    Adam Nintendo is from the like 1800's they started as a card game company. The company did NOT start in 1983.
