CMJ was essential to my mid-'90s Uni years. Sadly, I disposed the actual printed magazines over 20 years ago during a purge of personal ephemera, but I did hang on to all the sampler CDs from those CMJ issues. And, I am pretty sure that I bought my CD copy of Mark's Keyboard Repair based on it.
Got this on a paper sleeve freebie to everyone in line to buy Hello Nasty at midnight, wax trax, Denver. Still some of the grooviest tunes I've ever heard! Thank you Grand Royal for loving us as much as we love you!!!
@@alexissixela6914 Actually this version of the song came out on the album Push The Button in 1998, so he does remember. There was also no Money Mark album to come out before 1994.
When I first heard this in 1998 it hit me immediately! Played the CD over and over and over again. Just thought about it while listening to other great tunes from the 1990’s. Couldn’t remember his name. Thank god Indis. As good as ever. It will be on replay once again. Such good memories of simpler times walking around NYC with my Sony Walkman blasting. ❤️👏🙏
Holy shit, I forgot about this album. Back in the 90s I was all about anything related to Beasties. The music reminds me of MC 900 Ft Jesus - The City Sleeps. Ahh the memories.
This song came into my mind & I had to look it up! Still sounds great! 😎 Wonder if the groove was inspired by The Clash’s Rock The Casbah! (Another amazing tune) 🎹🎶👌🏻
No, they really don't. There's science to prove it. If it's out there, it's harder to find. The music industry has become a pure cash cow. "Look harder" is a lazy, tired rebuttal to what I'm saying. It's almost universally accepted that music, tv, and cultural arts in general are getting trashier and just worse overall.
And 'they don't make good music any more' is a lazy, hackneyed cliché that reeks of pessimism and mawkish nostalgia. Maybe it is harder to find, but it is there. I'd actually argue that this is a golden age of TV - think of all the stunning series that HBO on its own has put out in the last decade, let alone niche broadcasters like AMC et al. The new St Vincent album is pretty stellar stuff; but I don't know your music taste of course. Happy hunting.
Just saw Cypress Hill on NPR Tiny Desk and Money Mark was still doing his thing there. So had to look up this gem after 20+ years 🎉
Snap!
For data point collection, same reason I’m here. Weird.
This dude's hand lives rent-free in my head.
AND pulls out alla my mind.
Good song, real earworm ...
When I eventually compile a CD of songs that have soundtracked my life, this will be on it . Still sounds fresh over 20 years later.
Thank you Mr. Money Mark, this is timeless classic wow music. fantastic.
CMJ magazine brought this to me way back then. I loved that free CD!
I have that CD

I remember when this song came out in 98 and I liked it out of spite because my brother didn't. Now I just like it for being a good song.

Beautiful retro type tune. Very craveable....
Put it out damned Spotify!
It is, but only in some regions for some dumb reason
The licensing system. Funny that you don't see anyone marching around waving cardboard over that🤷♂️
1998 was a good year.
Damn this still sounds so clean 20 odd years later. Can't find the video anywhere. Be cool to see the dancing bunny again.

Money Mark ???? Hand and head ??? Is it about the mark of the beast?
Only if you're head is a vacuum.
A bit like Steve Miller Band.
That's an interesting comparison. I'm going to have to think about it for awhile.
Lol. This track sounds nothing like the Steve Miller Band.
What is it actually about?
Who cares? It's just a catchy, well-written tune. Go with it.
They don't make good music anymore....
Of course they do, you just got old and cynical. Look harder.

SevenFoot Pelican agreed!
God I hate it when people say dumb shit like that. 🙄
This version sucks.
Nah, it really doesn't.
