Why the barbed wire? Use electric or just regular fence. Barbed wire is an accident waiting to happen, and it won't be your accident. Here it's against the law.

Proper livestock barbed wire is fine. Livestock barbed wire is designed to deter by making the animal uncomfortable pushing through, and to not entangle when installed correctly. Animal/Donkey hide is also super thick compared to human skin + they also got all the hair on top of that. Regular fence installation for medium/large livestock is incredibly expensive as they need to be very solid. Electric fence is also expensive for permanent fencing, as well as requiring the animals to be trained on electric fencing (which is usually goading the animals to hit the fencing till they get the point).

@applepie9786 Ok, thanks for explaining 😊. It's just surprising to me since it's not allowed here, aparently a risk that the step into it gets caught and gets really badly hurt.

@@marialindgren4112 That only really happens if a barbed wire fence is not maintained and is allowed to to turn into a tangled mess. Also concertina barbed wire (the stuff used in WW1) was used in livestock keeping many many years ago since it was easy to store and set up. That stuff can mess up any livestock that steps into it. However concertina is very different to the barbed wire used for livestock today.
