The most intellectual of all Kapoors, also the most international. He acted in a number of British productions, and was closely associated with the Kendalls in their theatre productions. Also he produced some really interesting and meaningful films such as Junoon, 36 Chowringhee Lane, Kalyug, and Utsav. He once said in an interview that he acted in commercial films so that he could earn enough money to produce serious films. He was very different from the rest of the Kapoors. In fact, he was much like Prithviraj Kapoor in his love for the theatre. He was not loud and boisterous like the other Kapoors. He was introspective, soft-spoken and a well-read man. He had absolutely no arrogance and was always well-mannered. He was a disciple of serious cinema and admired Chaplin and Ingmar Bergman. If today anyone asks Kareena Kapoor about Ingmar Bergman, she will be like "Ingmar who?" I wish Kareena had inherited some of Shashi Kapoor's genes.

Shashi Kapoor is a typical Punjabi. Whilst answering questions.. Punjabi words are coming out of his language like @ 3.12..he used the word 'kinne' meaning in Punjabi 'many' and then he quickly changes the word to 'kitne' meaning 'many' in Hindi. A true Punjabi Legend..x
Im sorry but average punjabies seem do be very backwards, saying curse words all the time. Shashi and all kapoors are much more classy, so you cant compare them to average punjabies, these people lived a European life, not punjabi

I remember those days of my childhood when my father was called 'Shashi kapoor', his resemblance surprised all his family members, friends, acquaintances etc. and they were right. He talked like my father, his gestures, smile everything. Though i lost him in my childhood but i love both, him and Shashi kapoor.

The man with the million dollar smile, he'll always be that evergreen star of Indian Cinema. So sad he's no longer with us but his films will continue to be shown and enjoyed by the masses. RIP Shashi ji, I hope you've been reunited with your soul mate whom you missed so dearly, THANKYOU SIR for all those great memories, you were one in a million.

Marked difference in Shashi Ji's demeanour between this interview and the '91 India Today interview (where he refused to answer questions about his late wife). He seems very open and jovial here, reciprocating the bubbly nature of the interviewer. This was diametrically opposite to how stoic and guarded he was in the other interview. Guess the interviewer really does dictate the tone of an interview.

this was when his wife was alive in 1984 he had given many interviews to different channels around the world. because this was the year when he almost retired as heroes in films.
soon after few months his wife died & then he started gaining weight as he used to be on heavy drinks food all the time. since his teenage his gf & wife jennifer controlled his lifestyle his eating drinking habits. the best of shashi was the early late 40s early 50s & then 60s 70s then 80s & by late 90s he almost retired especially the last film he ever did in 1998 was Jinnah a British film based on the life of Jinnah.
