In many incarnations of the Penguin, he is close to his mother, largely because when he was a kid, she was the only one who showed any kindness or mercy towards him.
The Matt Reeves universe is the universe that is perfect for Batman and the villians. The versions of Batman, Riddler, and Penguin are dark, serious, and set the perfect tone for the fictional city Gotham. In my opinion, this is better than the older versions of Batman characters because many older versions were just too silly and perfect for a younger audience. This is the universe that is perfect for adult Batman fans. I cannot wait for The Penguin to come out, and I hope to witness more of this version of Gotham. (I also like Christopher Nolan's batman trilogy as well.)
I love how "the Pinguin" logo appears as the same way than "the Batman" logo. A clever way to distinguish the future James Gunn's DCU and the Matt Reeves Batverse
Even though my favorite portrayal of the Penguin is the one made by Robin Lord Taylor, I cannot undermine just how good and interesting a character The Penguin has become thanks to Colin Farrel. This trailer looks epic!!
Yo he Killed it in Gotham! Everyone killed it tbh. Gotham is probably the most perfectly casted show I’ve ever seen. Game of Thrones is on that level aswell
This trailer made me a little more at ease about how this series will portray Sofia Falcone. While I'm a bit disappointed that she won't be the massive, ripped powerhouse she was in the comics and the 'Long Halloween' animated film (In those, she was like if Luisa from 'Encanto' was an Italian mafia enforcer), the clips of her used in the trailer seem to suggest the show's kind of atoning for that by implying that she's still a MAJOR physical threat, just in a more viciously scrappy and aggressive way rather than sheer muscle.
I'm sure I'm the only person who's mouth dropped when they saw Colin Farell playing Penguin. The whole time I was trying to place the actor and when the credits finally came I was shocked. I still can't believe it. It's a testament to his talents as an actor to be able to become someone unrecognizable. There's the make-up and hair sure but damn, his voice, his accent, his mannerisms are so unique and differentiated. He's James Gandolfini in this role.
In the earlier versions, The Penguin was literally made to look like a caricature penguin. Colin Farrell just adds that penguin waddle, and the rest is just his new menace!
@@keithriley6597 Don't worry. These characters need their own shine as well. Heard Batman will make an appearance, and his sequel movie will return in 2026.
it is this branch that DC needs. A realistic, dark comix. Take away the rest of the films and develop this particular universe. It will bring you success
Very impressive. Colin Farrell is killing here as The Penguin. Really digging the "Sopranos" like tone here, really fitting for this incarnation. Also the cast here is pretty dynamite!
@@vee1766 The justice league isn’t crap. DC has loads of interesting characters and Batman is a part of that. Idk why people have this elitist attitude about Batman
Colin’s performance in the Batman was pitch perfect and this looks like the next step. Wow, phenomenal acting and Cristin is giving us an amazing Sofia. Chills down my spine.
This is the Gotham i've always been a fan of, the crime stories, the gangsters, the politics, the GCPD stories, Batman investigating murders and conspiracies... I really want this to succeed. Next i'm REALLY hoping for a Catwoman show. Maybe a Two Face or a Gordon show ? Huntress would also be perfect with her ties to organised crime.
This is gonna be something else man. I can imagine Battinson coming in from the shadows like a slasher horror film, with his theme music in the background.
@@AkataHabo-hx9ek I disagree. I think he’s still meant to evoke fear in his enemies, and this being from the point of view of the ‘enemies’ I think it’ll have the same effect.
@@ethanscott5734 idk, like people will fear him for a bit but his whole arc was moving away from the idea of being vengeance and trying to be a symbol of hope, which I really loved since so many people only see batman as that symbol of vengeance I think the idea of how criminals start reacting to that could be interesting to explore, like maybe him being less violent would make things like interrogation more difficult
@@AkataHabo-hx9ek his arc was him becoming a symbol of hope for civilians. Batman’s whole thing is literally striking fear in the hearts of criminals. I don’t see at all how it would be weird. He’s still Batman. Why would he want to become a symbol of hope for criminals? They’re the people he intends to scare.
Matt Reeves, Colin Farrell and the creative team behind these two endeavors have created what will undoubtedly become a dramatic masterpiece that stands entirely on its' own. It's a tragic and gritty crime drama that just happens to be set in a universe with a Batman. Prestige television LIVES!!!!!!!!!!!!! BRAVO!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
They’ve led this marketing campaign for the show very well when it comes to the trail. The first couple teas some stuff and now this final one gives us more context to the story and because of that I am now fully in on everything. I’m ready!!👏
Just watched episode 1 and though I thought it was going to be good, completely exceeded expectations. This Gotham City is the deepest yet with richer characters (pun intended) and a Penguin so good that started off the show hoping to see the Batman and then never wanting the scene to leave the Penguin. IT will be epic...Colin Farrell shines like Penguin in last Batman movie,he stole the moment in that movie with acting from everyone else, love IT
Penguin dancing with his mom gives me Tony Soprano dancing with Livia in the kitchen vibes and I’m here for it
In many incarnations of the Penguin, he is close to his mother, largely because when he was a kid, she was the only one who showed any kindness or mercy towards him.
So glad I wasn’t the only one who thought of that. He even sounds like Tony Soprano in some parts. Colin must have taken inspiration from him!
He is very James Gandolfi in appearance.
Now we just hope she doesn’t stick a shiv in his back, 60 times or so.
and Gotham TV Show too
Still beats me every time how they transformed Colin Farrell to The Penguin.
A work of art!
Yeah props to the makeup dept! Stellar job!
I COULDNT AGREE MORE
definitely batman thrives in a dark tone universe
1st episode was class
Colin farrel doing trailer announcement himself without prosthetic... dc is cooking hard with this. 🛐👏🏻
At this point HBO and Matt Reeves need to just create a new DCEU. This looks 🔥🔥🔥
Nah, this should just be Gotham-only Batman stuff. Thankfully, it is
a Matt Reeves DCEU would be crazy
@@Sheed96 Just wait till James Gunn makes the third Crisis on Infinite Earths adaptation. Third time is a charm they say
@@lux_fero no idea what that is but ok....
No, Matt should be left alone and stick to his Batman Universe. We don’t need James Gun to touch this.
masterpiece 10/10 Collins acting is award winning in this best series of the year.
I love how "the Pinguin" logo appears as the same way than "the Batman" logo.
A clever way to distinguish the future James Gunn's DCU and the Matt Reeves Batverse
Nice call!
I Hope not, i need that batman with the Superman of David Corenswet
@@raphaellopes2764nah
Even though my favorite portrayal of the Penguin is the one made by Robin Lord Taylor, I cannot undermine just how good and interesting a character The Penguin has become thanks to Colin Farrel. This trailer looks epic!!
Yo he Killed it in Gotham! Everyone killed it tbh. Gotham is probably the most perfectly casted show I’ve ever seen. Game of Thrones is on that level aswell
DC is in their rising phase
Say it abit louder
Dude that false. If you have ever read DC comics you'd know that they are amazing but the movies aren't doing much justice and am sure this won't too
@@Ezekiel_unaborthis series is amazing and the dc comics now is trash
@@TanvirAhmed-bz2ox ok I'll check it out

It feels like The Sopranos meets Gotham.
I can’t wait for this.
Yes! My feelings exactly.
"The Pinguinos"
"WHERE DID YOU HIDE THE GABAGOOL BATMAN?"
Gabagool? Put ova heah
"It won't be cinematic"
Sofia is “The Hangman.”
Oh I’d love to see them adapt Dark Victory.
Same.
Yeah.
She was very massive in that story
Our evil is underestimated!
Colin Farrell is unrecognizable as The Penguin. It's incredible.
This is how you make a series. Damn! Even the trailer hits hard.
THIS is how you build worlds. Impressive. Most Impressive.
He's that good we didn't know he's was the Penguin he had to tell us 😂
When i saw The North water with Collin Farrel, he bacame my most favorite actor and now he did it again. What a Legend!
Dayuuumn! That looks crazy good. I love Sophia already. That "ive been rehabilitated" line just crushed.
His performance as Penguin is one of the best I’ve ever seen. He literally became a different person
Collin Ferrell's Penguin Walk Is Crazy, Just Want A Small Cameo Of Robert's Batman.
Collin has committed 100% to this role. I cant expect this to be anything less than amazing.
We’re truly blessed to be getting this series. Without Warner Bros interfering with Reeves work like how they did with Snyder.
“ trust me it is only the beginning” I bless all of you, my brothers and sisters with that kind of confidence no matter what you’re in.
Farrell BETTER win AWARDS for THIS
I have a feeling this is gonna be an underrated show of 2024 even though it looks to be an amazing show. I personally can't wait!
@@ryili9058 cool story bro, where's Batman?
@@keithriley6597 Don't worry. These characters need their own shine as well. Heard Batman will make an appearance, and his sequel movie will return in 2026.
it is this branch that DC needs. A realistic, dark comix. Take away the rest of the films and develop this particular universe. It will bring you success
Very impressive. Colin Farrell is killing here as The Penguin. Really digging the "Sopranos" like tone here, really fitting for this incarnation. Also the cast here is pretty dynamite!
Farell definitely getting that Emmy for this role
If he doesn’t, then we really know it’s rigged
@@LeahHa8I mean Anthony Starr didn't really receive it as Homelander, so i think it's impossible for Farell to win this time.
This limited series was insanely good! This gives Marvel's Daredevils series a run for its money.
This and The Batman film is everything that the DC film universe in recent years wanted to be but could never accomplish.
Love The Batman. So looking forward to the Penguin show.
First 2/3 of the Batman was great, final 1/3 was rubbish
No unfortunately i don't think that's what they wanted. Which is a shame, because that's what we need. Not Justice League crap.
Tf? @@davidevans6755
@@vee1766 The justice league isn’t crap. DC has loads of interesting characters and Batman is a part of that. Idk why people have this elitist attitude about Batman
August: Batman Caped Crusader
September: The Penguin
October: Joker Folie á Deux
What a great time to be a batman fan
2 out of 3 aint bad
Just watched 1 St episode.. Collins acting is outstanding!!!!
Colin’s performance in the Batman was pitch perfect and this looks like the next step. Wow, phenomenal acting and Cristin is giving us an amazing Sofia. Chills down my spine.
colin farrell really making penguin become a true gangster, like a crippled and fatter version of al capone
This show sooo lived up to the hype! Instant classic!
Colin was completely unrecognizable in the film, he did such a great job with the character. Looking forward to this!
This show is awesome! Farrell acting is Oscar material, totally recommended.
Dang that Penguin walk was awesome 1:56
This is gonna be something else man. I can imagine Battinson coming in from the shadows like a slasher horror film, with his theme music in the background.
While the horror idea is interesting I feel it would come across as weird after Batmans character arc in The batman
@@AkataHabo-hx9ek I disagree. I think he’s still meant to evoke fear in his enemies, and this being from the point of view of the ‘enemies’ I think it’ll have the same effect.
@@ethanscott5734 idk, like people will fear him for a bit but his whole arc was moving away from the idea of being vengeance and trying to be a symbol of hope, which I really loved since so many people only see batman as that symbol of vengeance
I think the idea of how criminals start reacting to that could be interesting to explore, like maybe him being less violent would make things like interrogation more difficult
Well sadly he is not going to show up and if he does it's likely just a small cameo at the end of the last episode
Colin finally getting the accolades he deserves ❤ what a brilliant, brilliant actor. He totally made this role his own!!
We got Joker dancing with his mom and now Penguin lmao! Love it!

@@OrionInSpace cool story bro, where's Batman? It will fail.
Just watched episode 1 and though I thought it was going to be good, completely exceeded expectations. This Gotham City is the deepest yet with richer characters (pun intended) and a Penguin so good that started off the show hoping to see the Batman and then never wanting the scene to leave the Penguin. Iconic characters, Matt Reeves is doing an outstanding job following up, building in, and expounding beyond Christopher Nolan's exceptional Dark Knight trilogy!
A+
