    I ride my fat bike year round. Love the traction as insurance against conditions. Not as great on downhills and technical stuff but I am afraid of all those stunts. For fire trails and just overall riding in the wilderness IMHO it gives a versatility, even durability that suspension bikes don't have. FAt bike all year round for me, love 'em. Wish I discovered it sooner.

Now you guys are getting in the "controversial stuff", could you bring us some Ebike controversy! E-biking is SO fun, less pain, more speed and usually huge smiles, how could it be wrong? ^^ We already know Neil kinda enjoyed the experience, and Marc seems sceptical, but the real question everybody has in mind: "Are E-bikes fun?" I bet that video would be as popular as the "fat one". Thank you guys, i'm there with you everyday now. ;)

      theres one trail near CTC. in killeen/cove. Ft. hood has some pretty good spots to ride either in the land nav. areas or the old motocross track. its all hard pack and pretty loose though. I would choose a fat/plus bike if I go back there again. Theres also a spot out near BLORA (belton lake) that looks pretty narly like in the video here. but I never tried driving the truck there. I always just rode out there and was way to gassed to actually do anything there besides just ride back to the barracks.

    little racing science here. narrower wheels = more speed but wider = more control.

    • @chriswitek9455
      @chriswitek9455 7 лет назад

      wheels......uh. wheels that create a better aerodynamic profile with the tire and are lighter weight are faster. tired that are wider have less rolling resistance and better aerodynamics and a wider tire give you more grip. not sure which youre talking about

    • @Crypto_Briefs_
      @Crypto_Briefs_ 6 лет назад

      Fat bikes on downhill are harder to control at turns cuz they don't create that pressure on the ground as much as regular tires. He slipped on that tight curve just cuz of that. Someone really pro can harness the speed really well though.

    • @littlegoobie
      @littlegoobie 6 лет назад +1

      to go with this, wider tires are faster on a slightly rough hard surfaces becuase they absorb terrain and vibration rather than rattling the bike and rider, slowing you down which occurs with rock hard, rail thin tires.

    It would be very interesting if you do this comparison with a lot of other bikes too. For example Hardtail 29'er vs a XC 29'er fully. And if you would do all the tests on the same track, you could put all the data in 1 tabel so we can compare the bikes easily. To make a comparison like that even more reliable you could add additional data like HF or powerdata.

    Hi guys. Nice comparison, thanks for that. I broke my rib, wrist and finger coming off my
    26x2.1" wheeled bike in the loose sand here in Arizona. I really don't
    want to go through that again! I don't really care about the small speed
    difference (I'm in my 60s) but I would like to know if you consider the
    fat tire to be significantly safer than the alternatives.

    That's all well and good, but for a casual rider.. which one is more "fun". I prefer 3 pedals in my sports cars, maybe I'd prefer fat bikes to the standard alternative.
    I'm thinking about the new Trek Farley ex if I'm honest.

    @ the 4min mark. Sums up the feeling riding a fat bike. I bought a Fatboy back in January and do not regret it one bit. Just bought my 9yr olf boy a 24" Fatboy. Fun times!

    I wonder how much of the difference in the results were from fatigue from the first run and unfamiliarity with the bike and its performance spec's
