I love when the ewes look at you as if they want to say something to you when you notice they had a baby and you ask them if they did this. It’s so cute🥰🥰❤️
The one that Sandi asked "did you do this?" looked so confused. As if she would say "look...look...this came out of my back, I don't know why and how it got in there, what's going on?" 😂
Yeah the deformed one is probably better off being PTS as the joints and neck seem fused in that harsh angle and as you said...it's got slim chances anyway. That sometimes the harsh reality if farming and ranching...making that call for the animals wellbeing not yours. You share everything from the good and cute to the sad and ugly and we love you for not sugar coating the truths!🥰
as someone who worked in a shelter I agree. It sucks when we have to make these calls but my boss always said: I rather make the call myself then watch this animal suffer longer unnecessary. :(
Sadly, even mum seemed to know there is something wrong with that little lamb :( doesn't make euthanising any easier, mind. You almost feel like you can't when they fight so hard, such as drinking so well...
I've been following you for about a year and that little deformed lamb is the first time I got tears in my eyes. Despite the crooked neck and limbs, this little girl wanted to live so *badly*! She was trying to move and was so hungry. I can't imagine how she could make it with that twisted neck, but good on her for giving death such a valiant fight. I know we're seeing this a few days after you filmed it. I hoping that in your next blog you'll tell us she's going better. However, realistically, I know she's probably in a better place where the pastures see always free, the sun is always saying and her little bodyiss straight and strong. God bless you Sandy for treating the little ones who don't thrive with such concern and dignity.
Looks like Christmas will not be complicated this year with everyone getting down to business. I think with the deformity you did good. If/when it dies, it will be with a happy tummy. You showed compassion beyond measure to the little fighter.👍
Sandy.. I just have to say, I have followed you for a few years now and while I am not a sheep farmer, I do raise Dairy goats. I have learned so much from you over these last couple years, from birthing to nutrition to what to do when the crud hits the fan. You are an inspiration and a wonderful teacher. Even when at the end of the day you can't put a sentence together due to exhaustion know that you have inspired countless others who watch and follow what you do. Even tho the little one is probably not going to make it , you always do what you can to help them pass from this life gently, even if its making sure they go on a full tummy and a warm bed.
That is a excellent idea. And if you can't find pool noodles right now they definitely will have some pipe insulation ones just like noodles in home improvement stores like Lowes or Home Depot.
I know that I can get pool noodles at the dollar store if you have troubles finding them, your videos remind me of way in the manger with how the babies cuddle up to you and Carissa ❤️❤️
So compassionate that you fed the deformed lamb and gave it a warm, safe spot for the night. I guess would have been best if it hadn't been born alive, and I'm hoping it will pass quietly in the night for your and its sake, but a full tummy and comfortable sleep are definitely the way to go! ❤
Sad about the deformed lamb. I guess it’s part of life. I think you did the right thing but it’s still sad. Damn nature surprises. Your love for all ewe and lambs it’s just wonderful. Another early Christmas present❣️
??? I thought she was putting the deformed lamb in the warm room. Not killing it. Some say It is the season of miracles. If the lamb is alive in the morning. Feed it. If nature takes it course and it dies, then it was meant to be. But who knows it might even walk someday. I am wondering is it possible it was kicked during development? Maybe cramped? When someone fights to live, why not give the chance and see if some things straighten out? The lamb does not seem to be in pain, its eatting. I dont know where Sandy lives in comparison to me. How far from Minnesota/ upper Michigan boarders.
First Cache Valley, now Maedi Visna! You just can’t catch a break! It is a testament to how much you dote on your sheep that your flock is still healthy and thriving despite all the problems you’ve been hit with- anyone who knows anything about farming knows that there’s no way to prevent all disease especially if it’s endemic to your province
I love the fact that you treat the moms and babies that they're the first time you've experienced the birth of a baby lamb. I love how you love and care for these beautiful creatures. Kudos to you and Merry Christmas 🎅 🎄 ❤️
Carissa-the lamb whisperer. So cute when momma was nuzzling her, and it looks like Carissa really enjoys it. You ladies have the heart for the sheep and lambs. You can find insulation for hvac tubing at the hardware store that may give just enough to keep nanny from freezing. 😊❤
Sandi, I'm a long time watcher first time commenter! That gorgeous little fighter clearly is showing a will to live! Thank you for showing it such compassion when others wouldn't even give it a second glance. In the comments, there's a lot of people sharing their stories about how their own lambs were born similarly and made a recovery. She was born alive for a reason, I believe! Even if she does pass, she lived her short, precious life with a full belly and in a warm, comfortable place. Such mercy makes even the shortest lives kind and happy ones.
Sandi, something that I do when I need to remember things and don’t have time to write it down is make a voice memo in your phone. You can make a quick note, and then at the end of the day or whenever you can listen and write down that info for your Gallagher or Flock Watch. Just a thought for you!! Much love from Oklahoma! 🎄🎄🎄
The deformed lamb just broke my heart💔😪. She is so sad. But I knew Sandy's big heart couldn't just let her die. Thank you for feeding her and giving her a chance, even though she probably won't make it. We raise goats and if that happened with ours, I would do the same. L❤VE you Sandy!!
I think a lot of people have absolutely zero idea how their food gets to their local stores. Watching makes me appreciate all the hard work and I sure appreciate the animals.
I guess this make me become a vegetarian and I thank her for it ... I wanted to become one as soon as I was 5 years old but family were so against it ... But this is what give me the will to never eat meat again .
I always love it when fostering works, because not only is is way better for the lamb, it also mends the broken heart of the moms that lost their own baby 💜
I just wanted to thank you Sandi, for your wonderful vlogs! I look forward to them every day and I truly miss them when you don’t post. I do know that you are extremely busy during this lambing season and I appreciate you taking extra time and effort to support mine and many other’s addiction Lol! Thanks for making my day once again.❤❤❤
The way the little ewe lamb looked at you when you talked to her melted my heart. She’s smacking her lips like “give the the bottle already.” I don’t know if she’ll make it but either way she’s a trooper.
Oh that little deformed lamb really has the will to live. What a heartbreaking choice to have to make in that instance. It's so much better when they make the choice for you! These are the moments that the haters don't pay attention to. Your heart is so good Sandi! You did exactly what I would have done. I'm not kidding when I tell you I am a huge advocate against factory farming. But you have managed the happy medium between providing food on a larger scale while still keeping your love and compassion for the animals you keep. I really do wish this was the standard in meat production.
@@crystalslattery1712 crystal, people eat lamb. It's a fact. That is not something that is likely to change. No one likes the idea of watching the babies grow until they are market weight and seeing them shipped off...I'm sure including Sandi. If I had to guess, she would much rather be able to have a market for just wool and be able to live and keep her animals. As the world stands now, she can't. There isn't a big enough market for wool. I would much rather the lamb live a happy, healthy, comfortable life with someone that genuinely cares for their animals than have it come from terrible conditions and questionable slaughtering practices. Wouldn't you? Taking veganism out of the equation, would you rather see these babies with someone like Sandi or someone like Tyson or Smithfield where animals are tormented their entire lives? Don't you see her getting attached to these animals? Do you not sense the love even as they are loaded onto the trailer? As the world stands now, would you not rather this be the standard?
@@crystalslattery1712 well until the entire world goes vegan, I would rather meat comes from a farmer like Sandi. Villainizing a farmer who is providing an in demand product pretty damned ethically is not the way to go. Making her feel that no matter what she does will never be ok is not ok. Where you should be is on meat eaters comments. Without me at eaters, there would be no need to market lambs. You could also go comment on the sustainable housing builders and convince them to use wool for insulation, or the clothing designers to bring back wool apparel, or the furniture makers to use wool for cushions. Without being sheared, sheep become locked in their wool. So no matter what, they need shearing. Make a new more profitable and more ethical market and I'd bet farmers would stop sending lambs to market. You too could solve the problem.
Really enjoying the longer clips of the moms and babies moving into the larger group pens. Such cute moments to watch, as the lambs stay close to their moms but eventually end up playing and cuddling together.
Warm, snuggled, loved & fed. That's about all you can do for a little one like that. Sometimes you don't have a choice but to give the last act of kindness. You'll do whatever is best for her.
I have no idea how I came across your channel but I fell in love! I’m having a miserable couple of days and your videos are helping me feel better. Thank you!
As a college sophomore in the middle of finals, I have to thank you for your vlogs. They’re such an awesome part of my day and I always look forward to watching them. I’ve fallen in love with your flock!
A thought about temperatures…. A lamb is born typically the same body temperature as its mama. But the barn is (thankfully) not at the same ambient temp. Small things have a larger surface area to body weight ratio….meaning the little ones will lose heat a lot faster to the environment. When you consider they are also wet, it’s not surprising for lambs to get chilled pretty quickly. The thermometer has really been a game changer, allowing the rescue of so many lambs that got chilled.

I cannot stop crying for this little deformed lamb. I couldn't believe this little girl could drink as much as she did. Being a Mother self, anytime I see a still born or deformed baby...but this baby was live...I start crying, as if they were my babies...so, I truly do understand how you feel Sandi when you go thru all of these. God bless and I am going to say they are up in heaven healthy and having a wonderful time with our Lord and all of the Angels that take care of them.
You might try using dry erase boards with an easy on/easy off clip (tie the marker to it, or glue the cap on it, so you can get just the marker out), to make it easy to transfer with the ewe when you move them down. But seriously, you and Carissa are doing a FANTASTIC job with the ever-increasing amount of data you're collecting on these births! ❤
Awe that poor baby with the curved neck. That was so hard to watch. I don’t know how you do this job. My heart was breaking watching that poor little girl. Bittersweet lambing. I don't know which is harder on the heart, stillborn or deformed and alive. God Bless you Sandi for your dedication and love for moms, dad's and babies. Hello to the retirees too!
Sandi, I love that you do anything in your power to save any lamb at all no matter what their problem. Most other farmers would have conveniently found that lamb dead as far as everybody was concerned. Praying for the little lamb. Stay happy, healthy, hydrated and safe. May God continue to bless you, your family and your adventures.
Thank you, Sandi. I was born and raised on a farm. I miss it. I watch you every day, it helps me not to feel so bad about not being on a farm anymore. That`s where my heart and soul are. I`ve learned a lot from you.
I think it's usually the good, the bad and the ugly. Maybe a pool noodle on her neck could help straighten the neck out some. They can surprise you. You and Carissa are a great team. You have so much strength and pull from within to handle what you are presented with. I think we are all pulling for you and the ladies to get it done the best you can. Lord knows you do your best.
Cindy: You absolutely can't use a pool noodle or anything that puts pressure on the neck. The muscles have conformed to the anatomy of the spine, they need to be worked on to allow them to stretch to accommodate a possible change in the bony structure of the neck.
My heart was warned to see all those happy lambs snuggling down on the bedding and napping, but that deformed one wanted to live so very badly that it gave me a lump in my throat when you said it was drinking, but it has no hope. Poor little mite. Sandi you and Clarissa do a tremendous job with looking after all those lambs and ewes. I don't know how you find the energy when the days are so long. Maybe she'll turn around an end up being okay, but even if not she'll have been loved & happy with a full belly. 💖 Thank EWE 😉 for all that you do an for bringing your followers along for the journey, no matter the good or bad we appreciate you being so transparent about the farming life. 🐑 xx
That’s the sad part of any animal outfit, having to put down a deformed or unhealthy lamb. No shame in feeding it, look upon it as an experiment. It really is surprising that lamb made it as long as it did. Anyway, be sure to check in on Willow for us, and show us more of Teddy, she’s so cute!
Yes...an experiment, but I also consider it an act of compassion. The lamb looked hungry. Yes, I thought that she would perish--even without help, but at least she would die with a full stomach!
The Christmas tree did it for me! It looks sooo pretty, Sandi!! I bet all of the lambs are LOVIN’ it too!! Praying for sweet, special baby girl and that she can pull through. Thank you for giving her a chance, there’s a reason why she made it. 💝 If she pulls through, you should name her Noelle or something Christmas-y, she’s a Christmas miracle! Please keep us posted on her! Merry Christmas and Happy Holidays, everyone!!! 🎅🎄🎁🕎
Amazing that little one still was able to drink with her neck like that! Such a hard thing to deal with, knowing how they'll struggle, but wanting to give them a chance. I suppose we will have to wait for your next vlog to know the outcome!
Always give Nature a chance first. My daughter had multiple concerns discovered on the ultrasound. Several doctors made suggestions that were extreme. The pregnancy, the labor and delivery were hell for me. Big deal. The baby? Right as rain and beautiful. Im rooting for the lamb. ❤️
Wondering if it was to get a bit of magnesium into it's system that the muscles may relax to straighten the neck & front legs. ( a body position in the womb. )
You're video's never fail to make my day! Carissa is proof that good help and hard workers, make a difference. I hope her beef farmer takes as good of care of her! Seeing that baby at the end who has such a will to live, makes me glad we don't live close and have no place for a sheep! Whatever her struggle, that personality as soon as you showed her face came right at you! We all know how this will end for her.😔 (Well unless she got a Christmas miracle.) I am sorry Sandi! It was a surprise for everyone that the little deformed lamb drank! But reality is that it can’t stand so would never have its mom to nurse off of and not the “nanny “. Darn . I love that you tried your best, as always.
It’s got to be so hard, when the lamb clearly wonts to live. But they are so deformed. I would have a hard time not helping it, for as long as it’s fighting. If it gives up on its own. I don’t think I would do anything to intervene. But I’m not in this situation, I never have been. I honestly have no idea what I would actually do. Sandy please do as you see fit! Don’t let anyone make you feel uncomfortable for the decisions you have to make!! They are NOT in your place, seeing what you see, knowing what you know, or experiencing what you are! Your opinion and decisions are the only ones that matter!! Love you!❤

The excitement in your voice yelling "it's freckles!", too cute lol
I love when the ewes look at you as if they want to say something to you when you notice they had a baby and you ask them if they did this. It’s so cute🥰🥰❤️
What a shame about that deformed baby girl. It does make one wonder what happened. Maybe it just grew crooked in the womb? Hope she improves.😔
So it can pass warm and snuggled w someone rather than cold and alone.
Sadly, even mum seemed to know there is something wrong with that little lamb :( doesn't make euthanising any easier, mind. You almost feel like you can't when they fight so hard, such as drinking so well...
Horse Plus Rescue calls it “the last act of kindness.” In this situation, it truly is. 😢
PTS woukd truly be an act of kindness. 😪
Yup! Can't beat going out on a full stomach! What a mystery!
@@clarissaviens5778 I wanted to say the very same thing!! ❤️💕🥰
Y’all poor things, WHERE DO YOU THINK YOUR FOOD COMES FROM?!? Smh!!!!!!!
@@candacemurphy6321 I'm pretty sure they're well aware of where their food comes from seeing as they watch a sheep farming channel.
@@candacemurphy6321 what are you talking about?
So these lambs are not bred for the food chain????
Hansen, Sandi's compassion and boundless empathy drew me in on the very first video I watched. She is not a factory farmer.
Breaks my heart. Thank you for being so kind.
She’s trying SOOOO hard to live.
Try insulating the Nanny hoses with a pool noodle?
Great idea!!
This is flipping brilliant
She does that
That is a excellent idea.
Nature is insane. Can you imagine how lambing would be outside of a controlled facility?
@@AngelMGordon Sandi has been doing this for a while. And while I can see your point, sometimes it's not fair to the animal to "hope it survives."
@@AngelMGordon I'm with you! Sandi did say she would put the lamb in the warm room. I'm praying for a miracle! Anything is possible.
@@AngelMGordon She'll put it in the warm room, but the expectation is that it passes during the night naturally in its sleep
My grandkids Parker, Avery & Peyton want to send a special message to Carisa, they are so happy that she’s feeling better. They send her hugs. ❤

I totally agree.
💔😢 always do what is best for both you and the animal. 💚
The shot of Charissa and Freckles makes it _all_ worth it. Three cheers for Charissa & Freckles! 😉🐑
I'm so glad you let that lamb drink so that it could potential pass with a full belly rather than not tasting anything. So kind.
I can see freckles joining the Golden girls some day.💕
Great idea! I hope she does because you can hear the affection in Sandi's voice.
You giving the little girl food is compassion. It's WHY we love you so much Sandi!🎄💕
How could anyone not feeding that little deformed lamb and just letting her die? Did you see her eyes? There is life in it!
I've been meaning to say how much I like your animated Christmas intro. Very nice!
Me too! And love the music also and the golden girls. You make life sweeter for me every day. Merry Christmas to the whole gang of ya!
Indeed!
OHHHH DEF! CUTENESS OVERLOAD
This episode - yet more proof that one has to be STRONG, both mentally and physically, to be a farmer!
Good job lafdylsdy
I just wanted to thank you Sandi, for your wonderful vlogs! I look forward to them every day and I truly miss them when you don’t post. I do know that you are extremely busy during this lambing season and I appreciate you taking extra time and effort to support mine and many other’s addiction Lol! Thanks for making my day once again.❤❤❤

Well said; I second these statements.
@@barbarahouk1983 Thank you! I love Sandi and her whole family including Kinsey & Lucy and of course the Golden Girls.
Wait..she's going to let them be eaten?? There's no compassion in letting them be comfortable and happy only to send them to slaughter.
@@wenditaylor9708 Not ok..it gives them a false sense of safety. Everyone has options and profiting off of innocent animals is totally unacceptable.
@@wenditaylor9708 Make all the excuses you want but profiting off these innocent animals is morally wrong.
Really enjoying the longer clips of the moms and babies moving into the larger group pens. Such cute moments to watch, as the lambs stay close to their moms but eventually end up playing and cuddling together.
The compassion for that sweet deformed lamb 😭! God bless you Sandi!
They’re so cute when you drop more moms and babies together. Running around getting to know each other and keeping their own babes close.
Oh, Sandi! Your vlogmas is a perfect Christmas present for all of us. Thank you! ❤❤❤
Ohhh! My aching heart! She is fighting to live! I pray for her to continue to fight! God bless you!
Your videos are such a ray of sunshine these past several days. Thank you for sharing this with us.
Sandi: hands another lamb to the ewe that had twins
Ewe: oh thank you
Me: hands a twin calf to a cow that had twins
The cow: ok so you touched it its yours I only have one baby
So true. 🤣🤣🤣🤣🤣Thank you!!!! 🤣🤣
@@galeparker1067 hahaha yeah! Your welcome 🤣🤣
There was a farmer in our area whose cow had 4 or 5. I can only imagine gaining that many bummers at once!
@@SilverFlame819 oh my goodness I want my cows to have more babies but it usually makes the cow go bad very rarely they can breed back so you have to get rid of the cow but I enjoy the extra babies! Was she a holestien?
@@SqueakysHatchery I've seen them twice in my area. Once it was a Holstein, the other time it was a Hereford. Pretty crazy to see a cow with a litter! Kind of like a Finnsherp. :)
Thank you for your wonderful videos. You are so beloved :)Love your dogs reactions to the babies being born. Kenzie is right there as protector, and Lucy looks bored HA! Also I love how Freckles loves Carissa so much. I hope you are finding time for self care in the midst of Vlogmas and Lambing
The sheep will chew the markers - not a good idea to leave in the pens.
Put a bucket on a hook just like you do water but put your board in it, which ever you like into the bucket to protect it and hang outside the pen.
The spray paint system will work for them. You need something easy to use when there are ewes lambing everywhere. The paint is already in the tote.
Bless that little lamb, i hope it finds a forever home.
The best part of your channel is hearing those sweet little baby voices. It reminds me of when we had goats and sheep and I love them so much
Awe that poor baby with the curved neck. That was so hard to watch. I don’t know how you do this job. My heart was breaking watching that poor little girl. Thank you for feeding her and giving her a fighting chance. You never know, maybe she will be your Christmas miracle. Great job Sandy and Carissa you two are amazing. Freckles nuzzling up to Carissa was so precious. ❤
I just wonder how hoomans would like their babies pulled out like that.
Not knowing how long the lambs were dead, I would have thought they'd try to get them back.
Cindy: You absolutely can't use a pool noodle or anything that puts pressure on the neck. The muscles have conformed to the anatomy of the spine, they need to be worked on to allow them to stretch to accommodate a possible change in the bony structure of the neck.
Sandi , your efforts at fostering are improving. I'm glad to see success.
Lambing with a Christmas tree puts a smile on my heart. Thank you for teaching us as you go thru your busy day.
God bless you all and all those you love. Have a wonderful rest of your week!
It's so sad to me when there are some that are born deformed and they want to live, but you know the quality of life would be affected or it won't live for very long, and you have to make that decision to ease future suffering. Whatever ends up happening we will support your decision. You obviously care so much for these babies and their mommas
You have the greatest expressions. I love how you speak to your ladies and talk to the lammies. So much love. You and your husband are a great example of communication. Being able to freely express yourselves to each other and get suggestions from each other is wonderful.🤔🤗💞
Forevermore, I will associate the beginning of the Christmas Season with adorable little lambs being born in addition to hearing charming, instrumental Christmas music in my head.
Its crazy how 1 degree makes such a difference. You sure do know what you're doing!! 😁🐑 Kenzie was just watching you deliver those lambs.
Absolutely love watching your videos. It's my new daily obsession to wait for an upload 🤣 and when I'm caught up I scroll back an watch older ones since I'm fairly new so I can catch up on the storylines of all the ewes. 💕
So sad about the lil one who came out deformed 😥 but I love how your compassion for them shows, & you try to give them equal opportunity, no matter the end result. Maybe she'll turn around an end up being okay, but even if not she'll have been loved & happy with a full belly. 💖
Thank EWE 😉 for all that you do an for bringing your followers along for the journey, no matter the good or bad we appreciate you being so transparent about the farming life.
I just love 💕 watching those lambs jump around. I could watch them all day long.
I am glad keeping good data on your ewes is helping you with flock management. Good call on keeping track of the good milk producers!
Thank you for your compassion with that lamb. All I could see were those little trusting eyes. She probably won't make it, ut she got to feel loved.😪
You let nature take its course . It's sad but it happens. Even you ewe knows. Keeps her warm and comfortable. You do an amazing job.
The Christmas tree did it for me! It looks sooo pretty, Sandi!! I bet all of the lambs are LOVIN’ it too!! Praying for sweet, special baby girl and that she can pull through. Watching the deformed lamb crank its neck back makes me want to get out there and give it a chiropractor treatment and untwist it. See if it works.
Wondering if it was to get a bit of magnesium into it's system that the muscles may relax to straighten the neck & front legs. ( a body position in the womb. )
I do like that you show the lambs that are stillborn and the one that was disabled but alive. This is the reality.
You're video's never fail to make my day!

It’s such fun watching lambing. I know it’s a lot of work to take care of all those sweet hearts. I especially laugh when you are putting the free-range area and all of are talking so loudly trying to find each other again. My favorite times are watching them frolic and run back and forth once they are close comfortable.
ANOTHER sweet picture for the inaugural calendar: 12:05. Mom with 4 babies with one fully walking around down to one JUST being born. Mom seems surprised 😮
Poor little lamb. Whatever happens to her will be by will. I know you probably don’t want her to suffer since she can’t walk or keep her neck straight. She will be in so much pain if she got older and wouldn’t have a normal lamb life. Thank you for all you do Sandi.

That last lamb made me so sad! So alive and wanting to live, yet so unable to!
You don't see many barns with a Christmas tree in them it's really nice !!!
I have been known to put a small tree up in my rabbit barn. It brings me joy because I spend more time in the barn than in my house.
It was a surprise for everyone that the little deformed lamb drank! But reality is that it can’t stand so would never have its mom to nurse off of and not the “nanny “. Darn . I love that you tried your best, as always.
Thank you for your vlogs and the compassion and love you show to these littlest of God’s creatures.
Love you!❤
I love feeding bottles, they are so happy once they get latched on. Watching that little tail just twitch, they go so fast I can't count. Just came in from giving them water, the bottle babies from this spring were all over me, wanting extra. I think they are sort of spoiled. But Sandi you babies are just so precious! I love these videos
