Most Broadway musicals even adapted take five or six years of development before formally announced to start previews two years later. They might have been working on it since the movie came out but nothing formal to say until now.
My youngest nephew would love this it was his favorite movie sadly he passed before they announced it Hamilton is coming to town soon and we were planning on see it
It's about time they made this announcement. .....I mean who didn't figure they were going to adapt the movie into a musical???? No brainer there. As long as they don't mess with songs or plot too much, it should be amazing.
The problem is, the plot has to get messed with. It was first made as a film. Anything made into film requires more exposition. It’s why “Wicked” is being made into 2 parts, cause it needs more exposition as a film. On Broadway, you walk into that theatre, knowing you’re in for a spectacle. You have already suspended your disbelief by walking in, so a musical can kind of just go right into the plot. My working theory, is that, we are probably loosing the childhood scene, and that’s just gonna be all sung by adult Barnum in the “million dreams”song. I’m like 60% convinced we are either loosing “home again” song, or it will be way shorter. And the ending will not be Barnum sitting watching his children do Ballet. Cause that’s not the “Big Musical Ending” that a live action musical needs
Or, what could happen, is that Barnum will not have children in the Broadway musical adaptation. Because other than the ending of “I’m gonna watch my children grow up.” They don’t effect the plot. They were just a framing device, something to use to make the plot easier to write. But Barmun’s Wife affects the plot, Carlyle affects the plot, Jenny Lind affects the plot, the bearded lady affects the plot, etc… I could see them writing out the children.
I’m a huge fan of The Greatest Showman and I think that’s a ridiculous statement. I was in the room and the energy and excitement for this was incredible! Also, THIS WAS JUST THE ANNOUNCEMENT! This isn’t the final cast or staging or anything of the sort, so we cannot judge it fully, especially when it’s being performed in a basketball arena rather than a theater.
On the contrary, i think it will be one of the greatest shows if it's good adaptated. We need the other freaks and a good stage and a good adaptation of the songs, and this one was really good
Hopefully this isn’t the actual cast and just performers to sing for D23. Otherwise it’s gonna be a very average Disney Woke Identity Politics focused show instead of trying to recreate the movie on stage. No Hugh Jackman at least for the first run, then it’s a no go.

It took then frickin long enough to develop Greatest Showman into a Broadway musical. Talk about the biggest no-brainer ever.
Agreed! That took way too long. They needed to jump on it right after the movie came out
@@iKristin04The movie was released by Fox, Disney didn’t own it yet.

@@jackandsally79 yes Too Disney long enough to buy it lolol
They talked about it when it came out. I don’t know what took so long.
This is the best announcement to come out of D23.
If they are actually going to Broadway with this, we want Jeremy Jordan or we riot !!!!
I've been looking for tem to do this since the movie came out!
I want to see Hugh on the Broadway version. I know he'll kill it.
But will we get Hugh and Zac on Broadway for its initial run because that would be amazing!!
I'd be happy if Jeremy Jordan finally got his shot since he recorded the track demos for Hugh and auditioned for Zac's role.
Probably not Zac because he got into another accident

Extreme hype for this 🗣️‼️
The best musical ever I really loved it ❤❤❤❤❤❤❤❤❤❤❤❤❤❤

Disney's stage musical based on a 20th Century Studios movie. How interesting!
They bought 20th century Fox so they have the rights to all of their IP's
You do know that they OWN it now right?😊
Hopefully, they do Anastasia and this time make it movie accurate
We want musical on stage

Broadway
Anyone that’s a fan of the greatest showman knows this was atrocious!
Yeah I was not impressed at all. I tried not to compare it to the original, but no. I don't think I'll be going to this show.
I’m still going but they’re no hugh and zendaya.

Mediocre performance - that needs to improve.

What?
Seriously below average singers, except for one, but they met their DEI quota so all's good.
@@DrWarbird They were all magnificent performers, also its supposed to represent a circus, a famously very diverse setting... is it not?
@@coasters_bgw Well we've established you suck at judging musical talent. Pentatonix they are not. And no DEI is not how a circus fills their team.
