Love your video and all the words of wisdom that you share. You share some very valid points. I am definitely being very intentional with making sure that I am using all my stationery and pens. I purchased them because I liked them and fully intended using them so I must make sure not to hoard them. Much as I can enjoy and appreciate everyone else's creativity when it comes to journaling it simply isn't me so I just enjoy spending time journaling in the way that best suits me and my style. The best system that works for me is the one that I enjoy and am happy to use on a daily basis. If it is gong to be time consuming then it is likely to put me off wanting to use it altogether and that defeats the purpose of needing a helpful tool to assist me.

Omg😂 Three minutes in and already I’m feelin’ ya. Geriatric eyes, indeed! I love those pale inks, if only they loved me back.
I’m a 45 year old, mamita of color that has taken to this community after pulling away from a few other creative communities due to crummy gatekeeping practices. The pen/ journaling community is such a fun, loving community. I found myself really pulled these days to RUclipsrs that are open about their mental health struggles. I was diagnosed with complex PTSD and my journaling has been my salvation. I’m loooooving people of color in this space too, seeing mí gente reppin’ everything I love makes me hella happy.
This is a wonderful vid, I’m all here for the chat vids! I too want to see people using their stuff. Loving their things they have made a connection with. I want to see loved things.

Ha!! Im glad you can understand my sad eye strain woes 💀
Very happy to meet you!! I love running into other folks of color in the community. It’s like finding your niche, and then finding a niche within the niche where we just have an understanding of things built in ✨💕💕
While I know that your diagnosis isnt an amazing thing (wish less trauma on everyone!!), I am so glad that you have it, youre working with yourself, and that youve found your outlet. ☀️

So good! I really enjoyed this and appreciate your thoughts! there are so many amazingly talented creatives out there and I've found inspiration from people with all different styles...I've also found that as I've gotten older (soon to be 41) I've become increasingly more authentically me and I think that's reflected in what I create. I just love it! And I love the idea of seeing more products in use... I've hoarded my favorites for far too long, and I have been trying to be purposeful in using them. Anyway, thanks for sharing your wishes for 2023 and hopefully I'll see you again at another Travelers Company meet up!

I hope to see you at another meet too 😇 I definitely think the more you do something (subsequently, the more years pass as you do something also) the more that it’s easier to listen to what *you* want and need in terms of style. I 100% agree with you on that. It’s gotten much easier to care less about trends now that Im just tired 😎 So excited for you to use up your hoard/curation!!

Yaaas! This video might be the highlight of my week! 💖
I *absolutely* want to see people using their stuff and I want to see their individuality and their creative uniqueness and their honest mess. Also I want more of that for myself. I want to spent more time using my stationery as tools to deepen my other interests (life-long learning), and less time procrasti-ruminating about the stationery items themselves, like setups and lineups and organisation and which cover to use, like no, let's just *use something* and get on with life! 😅

YES!!! I have fallen way too down the rabbit hole when it comes to “coveting” items versus using them. When I first got into this hobby, a lot of my purchases were because I wanted few items of good quality to last me many years. Well, somehow collections are a thing that happen I guess 🥲

@@justusspace Yes, and I don't even have a collector's mentality, like, that's not something I'm prone to, but I'll like *ruminate so hard* 😩 Instead of using my pens to write in my notebooks, I'll sit with my notebooks in front of me and flip through them and be kinda overwhelmed, kinda paralysed, kinda "I want to do something, but I don't know how or what" 😓 I'll tell myself I can't make notes on something until *after* I've created the perfect system for the thing and then I'll spend forever thinking about what that system should be... when I could've spent that time writing the notes and learning about the thing. It makes me annoyed with myself 😅

All.of.this. seriously! I do post almost daily to IG, but sometimes I wonder why. In the grand scheme of life it doesn't really matter. There is a lot of cookie cutter posts and I don't have the patience or time to make perfect pictures for IG. I let the fomo and pressure to do so get my anxiety out of control. I took a step back and am now using my planners and journals as the tools they should be... it just took a while to get here! Thank you for sharing your thoughts!!!

I am so happy to hear that you're making your tools work FOR YOU!! It's a weird windy path that it takes to get there, but I am so proud of you :-)
