Great video well researched and informative, one point of note, this item had two versions to it user wise, if you pressed < > together you achieved AUX which I believe is the older version and doesn’t have the display clock option. On the later versions, you can press together to achieve AUX and press < > together to see clock time. It’s a shame that it doesn’t have bass and treble adjustments as the Beosound Century did as I’m sure the chip processor could of been programmed to do this and the display would of acted as the century’s display, rather the tone was set as” optimised “ … typical B&O. One other pointer the headphones jack mounted in the middle at the back is in a totally inappropriate location it really should of been on the side as the socket is concealed totally if the item is wall mounted.
A lot of people don't realize the engineering that went into the beosound 1. To have a light portable system with such powerful speakers was remarkable at the time. I own both and can say I prefer the beosound 1. Yes the century is a bit more powerful but the beosound 1 has a more dynamic sound. Listening to hundreds of CDs on both, I can say some sound better on the century and some sound better on the beosound 1. I prefer the highs and mids on the beosound 1. It is much newer tech so there are some definite improvements in the sound. What I don't like about the century is the weight.
Thanks for that. That explains why it didn't work. I would have tried upgrading the software but I don't think I saw any obvious ports inside the unit.
@@AndrewPeterson599 I don't think a SW upgrade is easily possible. The clock/timer function was introduced late 2002 and there may have been hardware changes also. However, I have both versions and can't spot any internal differences. Like you, I have just repaired the CD module in one of mine by fitting a new laser. I usually document my repairs on the Beoworld forum - are you a member?
it looks really nice but it cannot compete against the Beosound Century. Beosound 1 is ok for music in the background, but if you really wanting to sit and listen to music then the Century beats it completely. I sold my Beosound 1 and kept the Century. My biggest annoyance was not being able to adjust the Bass & Treble on the Beosound 1.
Great review. I had a chance to get one for $450 a couple years ago and took a pass. The sound and look just didn’t impress me for the $. I am actually fine with not getting both great sound and great visual design at the same time with B&O “vintage” products, but it needs to have at least one of those things going for it. This didn’t.
..👍🏿Nice VLOG!!!!! ,BeoSound Century is a TRACTOR --- BeoSound 1 is a REINDEER.....✍🏿

Hola …una pregunta el mio cuando lo enciendo en 2 o 3 min se me apaga
SW version 2 onwards introduced the clock (and alarm clock) functions
