Why didn't the state press charges? Even though you didn't want to, the state has the authority to step in and get the perpetrator off the streets.

My mother used to state: "Less than 5-10% of mothers believe their children when told about secxual abuse."
She would always gloat that she was one of the "good" mothers.
I beg to differ.
She knew about the abuse at least a decade before, yet she only took action during her acrimonious divorce. She had found out my dad was cheating on her.
Ignoring your kids is tragic, but if I put myself in their shoes, I would say that many parents are unable to care for children without the added financial support from a spouse, especially in a moments notice.
CPS took my daughter after my husband of 23 years died suddenly during covid. I was unable to provide housing without the additional income. People claim there is "so much help" for poor families. There is definitely food. Housing, on the other hand, often takes years to acquire. I was told my only option was to drop my 11 year old off at a teen shelter, ALONE, in our fairly large city! She still played with My little Pony for goodness sake!!!
Thankfully, things have gotten better, though I rarely see my daughter 😢. It really does take a village, but not every family has that kind of support..

I always feel guilty commenting on these stories expressing that I’ve also been through this, it feels like I’m trying to take away from the women speaking about her trauma… when these survivors share their stories, it makes other survivors feel able to open up about their own. We have people who to the world are proclaiming to be Godly, noble and honourable but are demon hearted to be able to commit such heinous crimes. Like that demon you call father. I have my own story. @ladyl22: That’s b/c the cure for the world resides NOT in worshiping a god/religion. But rather in building a truly compassionate & loving sense of self. Thus, we will raise others & treat others to be so as well; resulting in a more compassionate/loving world. Sexual predators become that way not b/c they are “evil” (such a word excuses their behaviors to a degree). But rather they were victimized as well. With that said, if someone commits hurtful acts against a child/others, they should still receive consequences for bringing suffering to others! I hope her stepfather received the consequences he deserved!
I wish this woman inner peace, continued healing and I am grateful that she shares her voice with us.

Thanks for sharing this my daughters husband sexually Assaulted me and raped me and he kept taking advantage of me in the same household where I live with my daughter and her children and her husband wait till she sleep or wait till she was gone from the house, unwanted sexual act I thought the same way like I was trapped like this man was taking control of me I didn’t want to say anything, but I was trying to find a way out without saying anything to my daughter because I didn’t wanna lose her in the children the situation Did not go well and now because of her narcissistic, manipulative, abusive husband, I have not seen my daughter and my grandchildren and almost 2 years. I don’t get no FaceTime. I don’t get no phone calls. I don’t get no physical contact and all this because her husband.. I wish I knew a way to get my daughter and those children back in my life. It’s very painful..

I agree. My mother did the same, even convinced my therapist I was lying about my SA even though my mom watched it all happen on many occasions. I hear so many say “a mother would never” Yes. I mother could, would and do more often than you know.

My mother‘s brother sexual assault to me and she kept a choir from everybody. She did not want no family members to know what her brother done to me with my mother. She wanted a family to look like we were perfect. I am 58 years old, and no family members know to this day that my mother’s brother sold to me because I was told to keep quiet.
I am so sorry. I experienced something similar, my mother knew her boyfriend was SAing me from the age of 2 and I remember her being in the room watching sometimes. I told an adult when I was 12 years old and she contacted authorities. My mom called me a liar and put me in therapy. The therapist also called me a liar and said I was suffering from abandonment issues from my biological father and that’s why I made this up… the therapist listened to my mother’s lies. I’m 31 now and my perpetrator lives in the same town as me, a respected member of society. Thanks to my mother I’ll live with this trauma for the rest of my life. We are survivors, and I am so proud of you for knowing this man is sick and your mother is wrong for covering it up. I hope you feel free and safe and loved for the rest of your life sweetie
