This video helped me out more then others and iv watched a lot ..
Awesome! I'm glad it helped!
Thanks for the knowledge Nicholas Cage❤️
Haha that's the first time I've gotten Nicholas Cage. I usually get Tom Petty lol
For some of the comments I am seeing here regarding his set up..... Yes pumps should be running 24/7 accept in the winter months. This is what keeps the water moving, clean and helps provide an environment that is healthy by eliminating fish waste and other contaminants. You may have noticed that he disconnected the other pump. While the waterfall is nice, it's not pushing the water around and for goldfish, a nice flowing current helps oxygen and doesn't allow for dead spots in the pool pond. Therefore the other pump should be used as well for this purpose. You should also have a fountain in the center which not only looks and sounds nice but it aggitates the surface water creating yet more oxygen. You can buy these fountains which can include a bio box where the fountain pump sits in or make your own with a plastic container with secure lid. Drill holes in lid with one large hole in center for the tube to go through, add layer of stone at bottom of container to weigh it down, place in pump with fountain tube connected, fill rest of box with polyfill(the same stuff that is in most pillows), place lid on, set in center of pond and plug in. Now you are cleaning the water and providing oxygen and surface aggitation! By the way.... The pool pump he disconnected at the beginning of the video..... Don't use pool filters that are made for them. They are good for pools, not ponds. Instead just stuff it with polyfill!!! You will quickly learn that polyfill is your fishes best friend for pond and tank pumps alike!
Oh but we're still not done yet. Now you need a high output air pump with multiple ports, 15 to 20 feet of air tubing and 3 large round air stones,4 if you don't have the waterfall. Book up your tube lines and put an air stone in all four corners of pool pond. If your pond is round, just spread them apart.
Hope this helped and makes your pool pond as awesome as mine and happy fish keeping!
Thank you for the advice, I think I will look into getting one of those fountain things
aawesome waterfall filter man👏🏻👏🏻👏🏻
Thanks Matt!
love you i love goldfish too
Can you use this to filter a small pool?
Like an actual pool to swim in? I'm not actually sure. I think pool filters are more focused on mechanical filtration, rather than biological filtration, like pond filters are
'Dads are Awesome ' I know, I'm a Dad lol.
Next time, have ago at making your own.
Little tip. Place your pump as far away from the return water, or you just keep recycling the same water/area of the pond.
Thumbs up mate. 😎🍻
Thank you for the tips! I actually just made my own filter out of a trash can. It took me 4 videos to finish it if you want to check that out ruclips.net/p/PLrYh0Xp4T11aivJd6wNtQSvvgEK7qKD1-
The pump and the return to the pond(your waterfall filter) should be at opposite end of that pool👍🏽
Yeah I ended up moving it a while later to the opposite side 😅
oh i though you were going to have an adapter for the preexisting holes well your idea was so much better thanks dude this will hlp me in like 15 years im 14 now wow
What do the lava rocks do? Are they catching the dirt and then you wash them weekly?
The purpose of the lava rocks is to act as "bio media". Basically they create a lot of surface area for nitrifying bacteria to colonize one. Filtering out dirt etc is usually done more by mechanical filtration, like the round filter pad under the lava rocks
Would it be fine if I use the same filter and pump for turtles or would I have to get other products?
Hi Brent, I think this filter and pump would be fine for turtles
Tobias Holenstein thank you. Have a good day.
@@brentottinger7643 No problem! Have a nice day as well!
hey tobias ive been into raising fish for over 35 years a few years ago i had a life changing medical condition that got me out of the game for a while i’m slowly getting back to sort of normal and i’m retired due to the medical condition that allows me to have lots of time to research the one thing ive noticed is how many made in China pumps are out there for very reasonable prices i’m curious if you have tried these out and what you think of them the power heads really caught my attention before i got ill i had a 250 gallon tank in my living room and i was using some canister filters from Germany for that tank those were very expensive and worked well but everything on them was metric so it was a pain that i couldn’t just grab stuff at my local hardware stores and had to order everything i needed from that company online of course i eventually acquired all the parts i needed for that tank but i had to leave it behind in a home i no longer live at or have access to btw i had traumatic Brain injury that messed me up pretty bad for a while but luckily i survived a condition that 90 percent of people do not
Hi Craig! Sorry to hear about what happened to you, but it is great to hear that you are doing ok now. I haven't tried any of the aquarium pumps that you are talking about, but in my opinion it might be worth checking out. Is there a specific brand you were looking into? I'd love to take a look at them online
Thanks for flying Conair
hi, that waterfall filter is like 70 to eighty dollars is there any other waterfall filters that are good for that and what size was the hose you used to connect it. love your videos thanks
Wow, looks like the price really went up. Home depot has some waterfalls, but they are a bit smaller. Maybe you can connect like 2 of these home depot ones or something www.homedepot.com/p/TOTAL-POND-8-in-Spillway-Waterfall-Cascade-52534/204746577 and I used a 1" hose to connect mine
thank you! where can i get the lava rock and the stuff that goes in the filter or does it come with it?
@@badideaa6518 I got my lava rock from home depot. I think for a big bag, I paid around $8 for it. I don't think those home depot waterfalls come with any filter media, so you'll have to get it all separate. So I would also recommend getting a pond filter pad
thank you!
@@badideaa6518 You're welcome! Happy pond-ing!
Excuse my ignorance bro, so im buying the same set up u have but also buying a skimmer, so do I need 2 separate pumps, one to pump water like this set up and another to pump from skimmer to the water fall? Does this pump have 2 holes to connect from hoses from?
No worries bro! I'm here to help! You won't need 2 pumps, you can just put your one pump in the skimmer. I've actually been thinking about getting a skimmer, I just haven't gotten around to it
Thanks for the video. I have been looking for this for a long time. Is that water pump had to run all the time? And if it is then is it expensive to run it all year around? Also is that pump loud? Thanks again
Hi! Glad you liked the video 🙂Yeah the water pump has to run all the time, because if it stops running, the beneficial bacteria in the filter can die. The pump is actually pretty quiet. The only thing I really hear is the water from the waterfall. I'm pretty happy with how the pump works. I can try to find out for you how much it costs for the pump to run, but I think it does kind of cost a bit. Since this is all on my parents property I pay them $100 a month to allow me to run this pond pump and my 2 fish tanks lol, but I will try to find out exactly how much it costs in electricity.
Dude how much do you pay for your pump and also I love you videos
Joshua Joganathan Hi Joshua thank you so much 🙏 the pond pump costs about $44
Where did u buy the pump?
This is where I got the pump from www.amazon.com/gp/product/B0049XENYS/ref=as_li_tl?ie=UTF8&camp=1789&creative=9325&creativeASIN=B0049XENYS&linkCode=as2&tag=tobiasmusic-20&linkId=d156b03a0fcd7c6e8861eedd5e874f94
Spoke with you on Instagram. Seem like an awesome dude. Keep up the great videos.
Thanks man I appreciate it 🙏 Thank you for watching my videos!
How wide is the spout on the water fall?
One more question, I don’t know if you know a lot about koi but do you think I could put 3 in a 165 gallon pond
In my opinion it is a bit small to keep koi. If you get young ones they will outgrow it pretty quick
I’m really sorry for all the questions, but what if I had a 270 gallon pond, would that work?
What size is the hose for the pump ? Is it one inch ? That you had to change
Yeah I beleive it's 1 inch
What is the size of tubing for the filter
The tubing I used was 1"
Ok thanks so much
@@SUBSCRIBERSWITHNOVIDEOS-ww6pv No problem!
Do you have any concerns for long term durability of the pool? Why not just dig out a pond? Thanks!
I did have some concerns about that when I first got it, especially with it being in the sun almost every day, but it's been about 2 years now and it still seems as durable as ever. I am planning on digging out an actual pond eventually. I would have initially dug out a pond in the first place, but this is my parents property and I didn't exactly have the freedom to do it haha, but now that they are used to my pool pond I think they would be ok with it haha
@@TobiasHolenstein nice. What do you do in the winter? How would you keep it from freezing if you lived somewhere that gets cold enough?
@@VlauableFather Honestly I'm not really sure what would happen if it was left out in freezing temps. I live in LA where it doesn't get that cold, but I'm guessing you might get some ice damage if it's left out in freezing temps
So I can use this to filter my kids 10 by 10 above ground? Tjhe pump t hff st cane with is dead and the aftermarket ones are too expensive
Yeah I would say that would probably be fine. Although, do you know how many gallons your pond is? It sounds like yours is probably quite a bit bigger than mine
Well done sir, I am from Mumbai India. Sir can you tell me how much height should be preferred if this filter apply for Waterfall?
Thank you! I'm not really sure what the preferred height is for this pump, but I feel like it is a pretty strong pump
Hi gud day... Is that pump comes with fitration system? I dont really have any idea how to install that thing... It's my 1st tym to build a pond and i have no idea... I'm planning to have a koi. Hope u can help me. Thanks.
Hi, no the pump and filter come separately amzn.to/2J2Gf7d amzn.to/2pZjJmI
Best of luck with your pond, I would recommend having at least a 1000 gallon pond and the 1110 gph pump. Best of luck with your pond! :) If you have any questions feel free to ask me
Thanks man.. Great help. 😊
@@sterlingsurfer4627 You're welcome! :)
alright guys, this is a pretty waterfall
Thank you!
It's not supposed to come with anything. Hope you plan more filtration than just the waterfall...
I have a pond mould that I’m going to be fitting in my garden soon. I’m so confused haha so the pump that you linked in the description is fine to use on it’s own right? I don’t need to buy like 2 filters do I? Btw the pond is around 6ft by 4 ft
Hi! So the pump I linked in the description can be used on its own, but it is not a filter. You will still need a filter. There is a small sponge prefilter on the pump, but that is just to prevent the pump from getting clogged. There are different kinds of filters you can get. The one I linked in the description is a waterfall filter, but it looks like they are unavailable on Amazon at the moment. If you want you can even make your own diy filter with a bucket, some filter media and bio balls or lava rock! The main purpose of the filter is to grow beneficial bacteria to take care of fish waste and Nitrite. Also, I don't know how many gallons your pond is exactly, but it sounds like you could get one of the smaller pond pumps. If you click on the Amazon link you will see there are different options for different sizes, like 400 GPH or 550 GPH
Tobias Holenstein alrighty cheers mate! I’ve ordered a filter box but I just need a pump for it.. it’s so hard to find one that’s the perfect size and has good reviews lol
Awesome! I know the struggle haha. Let me know how it comes out!
@@TobiasHolenstein Ebay also has pond pumps of all sizes for a little less money.
where did you get the lava rock
I got the lava rock from Home Depot
@@TobiasHolenstein how much did it cost
I can't remember exactly but I'm pretty sure it was less than $10
Hello. No, unfortunately there is not. Thank you for answering.
It's ya boy, Asmongold
A lot of people have been telling me this recently lol
What water pump do you need for a goldfish because we’re putting him in a pot
It kind of depends how big the pot is. Like if it's not huge you can get a smaller one
Yeah it’s medium
Sometimes at home depot they have smaller pond pumps that would probably work. Do you know how many gallons it is?
Also if the pot is clay, you probably need to put a pond liner in it
Lovely music:-)!
Thank you! The song is called First Date by Aso
also the link for the waterfall filter says it 103 dollars you say its 45 can you find another link also if yoou email tetra the would send you an adapter and stuff thats what it said on their website
Wow you're right. They must have raised the price. I'll see if I can find a cheaper one
@@TobiasHolenstein ok thanks
I know this is late but I went through the comments to find that not enough people said you look like Ghost Rider.
Haha no way like the actor Nicolas Cage? I've had people tell me that before lol
How big of filter would I need for a 165 gallon pond. (GPH wise)
So I've read on google that you should circulate your ponds water at least once every 2 hours, so if your pond is 165 gallons you should be good if you get a pump that does at least 83 GPH
Thank you so much!
vQuaxy i suggest you buying a pump that suck up to 165 GPH or more for your pond.
Thanks for the video man. Did you have to buy the piece you had to screw in the back of the tetrapond waterfall filter to connect the tube or did it come with the waterfall filter?
No problem! I hope the video helped! The waterfall came with the piece I screwed into the back
@@TobiasHolenstein Thank you man much appreciated!
No problem!
Do I have to run it 24/7?
I didn't have mine running 24/7 at first, but then someone told me that the beneficial bacteria will die if you don't have it on 24/7, so now I have mine on 24/7
Like why arent people using this on fishtanks genius.
Where I get hose and can u send link
Hi, do you know what diameter you need? Here is a link to one that is a 1 inch diameter amzn.to/2V1byXA
Thanks I’ll buy it
