Great step by step tutorial on building an outdoor pond filter with cheap recycling materials. As not all of us can afford to buy expensive filters. A superb video for those who are passionate about keeping pond fish and now they can build their own filtration system using hand tools.

I’m so glad that you spoke in English from start to finish. I’m sick of watching and reading things where filipinos flit from English to Tagalog/visayan and back again. Even the newspapers do it. Thank you. A very useful video.
I made this for big tanks in the past , as you have done, and made video also. It was fun to watch you do it!!! The filtering and water cleaning capacity of this kind of filter is superior to any commercial filter.
I like this video because of the simplicity of the build. No power tools used, easy to follow steps. Materials which can even be found in the 4th world country I live in lol!
I just saw your video on how to make Mega pond filter. That is the best idea for a filter design that I have ever seen. I especially like the drain on the bottom in case of algae buildup to release algae and excess soil sand dirt whatever. Here in America it's easy to spend a lot of money on such things. Thank you so much for sharing your idea.
You have humbly showed me that with honest thoughts and a bit of hard work you can truly accomplish a lot with very little . Bless you brother for the lesson .
Dexter with all his fish stuff is the guy who i wanted to be growing up as a kid. makes me happy to see all these fish related things he is doing. keep it up man. thumbs up sayo brother
Being happy of your doings is the best job. Thank you for Sharing your passion Sir.. Happy Farming. You inspire me in doing vlogs and sharing my passion in goat farming and more. God Bless you Sir.
Thanks for the video! For even better results, consider a drum filter. It works automatically, saving you time and effort, and the cleaning process is very thorough, removing even the finest particles. Plus, it’s energy-efficient - only about 50 cents a month in electricity. With easy maintenance and powerful filtration, it’s a smart choice for any pond owner
Aaaahahshahaha....good job my friend. You are working with what you have handy and that's awesome!!! The most important tool is the one attached to your shoulders. Keep being awesome!!!
Salamat Dexter's world sa tips at npakagandang videos marami ako natutunan, at ngaun meron n din ako Aquaponics sytem sa bahay, at meron n din ako you tube channel at makikita nu upload ko dun...its really works..thank Dexter's world..idol
This fella reminds me of when we were kids, couldn't afford tools we made do what we had, hacksaw blade used one at that from a builder or nicked off the old man (father) job done.
Nice video sir. I also use this kind of filtration back when I was starting my koi hobby, but after a year i’m using fiberfill and some rubber foam. Until now my pond is crystal clear..
Not tried this filter yet. Could probaly put pots in the top and grow lettuce 😉. I like the happy nature of Dexters world. His 3 inch measure even has three increments on it..perfect for diy😁
interesting idea, I love the fact it is built out of simple materials! I was talking about how much I love your channel on my live stream last night, and many of the people in the chat are already subscribers and also love what you do! Keep up the good work!
Hi Dexter! I watching your channel from Hungary! i showed your videos to my friends. Thank you to inspire us… in the next few weeks we will start to keep fishes and we will use your tips/methods . Let see what will happen :) Thank you and best luck for you in the future.
Hi Dexter, love your videos, I tinker withs lots of stuff too, I wanted to mention to you about Electrical Safety from twatching this video, I notices you plugged the pump while you were wet from standing in the tanks, I really love to have you keep making great videos, you may have this covered but incase I want to let you know you need to have all you electricity to you pond/concrete tanks, GFCI protected either by a GFCI Breaker dedicated to the outlets outside that feed your fish ponds or GFCI outlets , remember if the GFCI is not properly grounded it will not work. Take care my friend and God Bless.
thank you for sharing all this. Cost cutting and doing things is quite a lot of hard work . Thanks youre a good man bro - you have being sharing the info, while others would not. Your simple and cost-effective solutions are good.
You freaken kill me the way you made this filter. You used the most primitive ways of cutting holes and drilling holes with a hot pipe, you don't even have a handle for your hacksaw blade. And yet you have a perfectly good NON leaking filter. I built a wooden box and lined it with a waterproof membrane and ran pvc through the bottom for it to run back to my pond and I have nothing but leaks. I have been working on this for several weeks and I still have leaks. I cant seal around the hole for the pvc. I drilled it very tight to where I had to tap the pipe in and it leaks and it leaks. I have every tool, saw, and drill you can imagine I cant get the pvc to seal. I used silicone, liquid rubber, and finally roofing tar, still leaks rubber. You did a great job for what for what you had to work with. THX for sharing
Good one Dexter, screw all those expensive connectors, just use a bit of paste to make watertight....... Will use your tips to make my Koi pond this summer. Wish you well from N. Ireland. Keep going !
Very fine Video and You have explained it all so well. Is this not for a very big Tank or Pond? It must be because all your pipes are so very big. I only have two Ponds of 300l each joined by a small creek. Nice hobby!
Nice video. Question: What are you trying to filter or trying to remove from water? Dirt or harmful chemicals? The technician at the BFAR said that tap water is not good for fishpond because of Chlorine, and rainwater is not safe because it is acidic. Will adding charcoal remove the harmful chemicals?
Great step by step tutorial on building an outdoor pond filter with cheap recycling materials. As not all of us can afford to buy expensive filters. A superb video for those who are passionate about keeping pond fish and now they can build their own filtration system using hand tools.
Agree bro

I made this for big tanks in the past , as you have done, and made video also. It was fun to watch you do it!!! The filtering and water cleaning capacity of this kind of filter is superior to any commercial filter.
Can you do a video of how to air water or pump into the filter the easier and cheaper way and give me a link please I would really appreciate

epoxy cost a penny
pebbles cost a penny
pvc pipes and elbow pipes cost a penny...

Diy isn't about the tools used it's about making your own, note that he was using a pvc, saw and drum etc.

I suggest you add charcoal as additional filter media. The charcoal will even filter any unwanted smell of the water.
What an excellent looking filter! Thanks for sharing!
First time I saw someone outside of my family using their finger to measure. My father taught me that many years ago and I shared it with my son. 😊
