How people handle trauma can depend on their mindset before the trauma occurred. Think about an emergency situation, a car crash, a bank robbery or hearing about an active sh ___ ter. Some people think quickly in those situations and some freeze. Some come out of it determined to make changes in the world and some come out of it with PTSD.

I don’t think that all relationships are like this first story. I know mine isn’t. Husband and I were talking about losing a few pounds and getting back into fighting shape this morning-or rather I was talking while he looked displeased 😂. I’m not sure if he just likes a little junk in the trunk or what, but he doesn’t like me losing weight when I want to slim back down whenever I put on a few. I’m not sure if it’s that or insecurity because men pay more attention to someone really fit. Obviously he wouldn’t want that. When I saw him balking at my suggestion, I was like “you know if five different good looking rich celebrities showed up asking for my hand-I would turn them down flat and stay with you because I love YOU. Really love you. I’m not going anywhere if that’s why you never want me eating less and working out. I would never leave you in a million years.” And I mean that. Not in the token “yeah this ain’t happening anyway so this promise is cheap and easy” sort of way. No, it’s the actual truth. I really WOULDN’T leave him for the most handsome rich man in the world. Walking away from him would be like chopping off my own arm, ripping out my own heart, destroying my own whole world-all combined. I’ve told my kids to not expect me to live long if their father dies. If I go missing I’ll probably have died of a broken heart on top of his grave. Wherever he goes, I will follow. Even into the great beyond, wherever that leads. If he went to Hell, I’d go with him. Heaven would be Hell anyway without him.

Story 2: how come this part didn't click with him ? "I won't be able to enjoy my trip if I *have* to be worried about cheating on you" so "it's better if I can sleep with people ...."
Wtf first and foremost, if cheating is your primary worry if your partner isn't litterally next to you, you have serious issues of being a hoe. If you need to make *efforts* to *not* cheat, damn how many times have you cheated already?
Second, if you think "not cheating" is "preventing you from enjoying", it tells a lot about your intentions on this trip.
third, being "worried about cheating" and saying "i'm opening the relationship" are very different things, in the latter you have absolutely 0 intention of *not* sleeping with some rando.
What I think happened is they were discussing the trip with her friend, got hyped up about hoeing themselves, she realized BF would find out about it, and the friend came up with a plan to legitimize.
I see no other reason for the sequence of arguments.

It does seem to be "based on a true story", some of the details are spot-on, others are not as plausible. Definitely not AI generated, and a lot of it tracks with people who have actually been cheated on.
It's counter-intuitive, but often the true stories do end in fiction, where the writer gets revenge and lives happily ever after. That's never how it plays out in the real world.
True and false are never the perfect binary states we like to believe they are. Nobody writes about their own experiences objectively. It's more like it's written by someone who is in the middle of all this shit, they can give an accurate accounting up until their present time to get it off their chest, then they finish the story with the resolution they actually want to give themselves hope.
So I'd call this "True", with an asterisk beside it, which is about as authentic as it gets if not told by an objective third party.

I am grateful I don't live in USA because from what I have seen & heard from my USA based sister, there is no way we would have gotten that level of care without major financial outlay there. It is, but it's possible to fly under the radar if you take your wages under the table (in cash). No official employment means no W2 (a statement of earned income issued by an employer annually). No W2 means any income would have to be reported directly by the taxpayer.
This doesn't mean that the person doesn't OWE taxes, but it does mean that it's possible to avoid having the Internal Revenue Service REALIZE that taxes are owed. OP might have to settle up on the tax issue down the road, but for a while it's possible to avoid the consequences.

If this first story is real, OP is a POS for abandoning his daughter. It’s all about him, like his kid is absolutely nothing! He deserves to be alone for that.

Lmao. Did you even pay attention? He wants to be alone, so you're saying he deserves what he wants as a punishment? Doesn't make much sense to me.

Story 2: NTA. As someone in an actual open relationship, its not what she wanted. She wanted to have sex and to have you as a back up.
Open relationships are a lot of work and understanding.

It’s so tragic. OP was finally seeing the truth of this sick society, but they pulled him back in.

Wife is the rule when it comes to women not the exception and her brother is the rule when it comes to cops not exception. Good to know the rule gets proven true time and time again.
