    The day they announced a series about Agatha after WandaVision was over without any prior planning is the day I knew there's no planning. They just saw Agatha was a popular villain and boom, gave her a whole series.
    Planning is the most important part of running anything, not just a movie business. I guess they all have been arguing too much amongst themselves to come up with a plan. I always said wokeness wasn't the main reason for their downfall. It is their over-reliance on ESG money solely without any proper plan to make money externally that led to their downfall. Holy crap, these companies usually have Plan B and Plan C too if Plan A fails. What the hell, even an amateur can tell this $hit was run by clowns who do not think long term.

      Supposedly, wokeness is a byproduct of their ESG obsession. They HAVE to be woke to get a higher score.
      I guess investors were really led to believe that as long as they're riding ESG they can take the loss in actual customers. "Disney is too big to fail" or so they thought. They "only" have to hold out for at least one generation while they socially engineer people to conform to their standards. Just weather the storm until those ol' "far right istaphobes" die of old age.
      They went all in on Plan A (ESG) and they did think long term. They just didn't have a backup plan in case it fails miserably because having a Plan B or C would imply they didn't believe in the ideology from the start.

    • @davidgantenbein9362
      @davidgantenbein9362 Год назад +2

      Let’s be honest here, even in phase 1-3 it was obvious that there was no giant master plan. They were doing some planning, but they also produced less and were still focused on the main characters from the comics. It was easier back then to connect the movies and develop it into the infinity saga while moving forward. But in the end it was as much luck as it was planning.
      Also, phase 4 started with Black Widow, Shang-Chi and Eternals … how much more proof did we need to understand that they just threw stuff at a wall and hoped something would stick? Nothing did, so they went with Loki and WandaVision, two tv series, as the main MCU storylines. Yeah, it’s definitely all just improvised despite us thinking that spending roughly a billion on movies and series per year would leave some money for planning.

      @@danielbob2628 It’s not the wokeness that has crushed Disney as a company, it’s Disney+ which was Iger’s baby. Launching that streaming service forced them to dump hundreds of millions of dollars into new content for it every year for the foreseeable future to try to gain and retain the subscribers they were trying to get. It would have been much smarter to focus on high quality projects for theaters while licensing their current IPs to streaming services such as Netflix, Amazon and Apple. The streaming service is going to go down as one of the worst business decisions made in this century. It’s the stem issue that has over saturated the market with the IP’s content, pushing out subpar content to keep the wheels of new products on Disney+ turning and has been a blackhole of a money pit with no foreseeable future ROI. It’s 60 billion over ten years. As another channel explained, the resulting 6 billion investments into parks and cruises is what Disney has done the last couple of years. Given current inflation, this is already a decrease in spending compared to before, not an increase. On top of that, Disney seemingly announced to put a lot of that money into more cruise ships. Which means even less money for the parks.
      Bottom line: 60 billion sounds like a lot, but it’s actually Disney announcing a investment reduction for the parks; they just try to sell it as the opposite.

      PS: Kathleen Kennedy is probably just really good at doing what upper management wants, so she is safe in her job. Marvel, Pixar and Disney studios all followed Lucasfilm in that regard, which tells us that it was mandatory from higher up.

    I think what is most telling about how unprepared Disney is and how they are unable to handle emergencies in general is how they handled their workforce at the start of the shutdown three years ago. Disney simply laid-off, pardon, I meant "furloughed" (insert scornful tone here) everyone that was not high-up in management (with the exception of some security and maintenance personnel.) Meanwhile, Universal/Comcast reportedly paid their full-timers and gave the part-timers a few weeks of pay while they were shut down. I don't have the details, but I've talked to Universal employees who have confirmed they were paid until the parks re-opened about six weeks later. Meanwhile, Disney cast-members were left swinging in the wind. The college program kids from overseas were in the worst position. They were left without pay and no way to go home. I am contemptuous of Disney for this alone, not to mention all the agenda $#!% they've been ramming down our throats this last 6 to 7 years. I HIGHLY doubt Disney was run this poorly twenty years ago.
