I've been saying this for months: Iger Can't Plan.
Welcome back Geeky Sparkles, we missed you and your woohoos.

How Bob Iger still has a job is beyond me. Shareholders need to boot him or lose more money.
He’s one of God’s chosen people - with Chapek gone, they’ll need to find a different scapegoat to take the fall
He filled the board with his friends and supporters.
Yeah and there really isn't anyone to take his place, Iger is so hell-bent on making himself a dynasty, that any "replacement" would be sabotaged as much as Chapek unless Iger is fully rooted out of the company. Which ain't gonna happen with all his little minions hanging out in the board.
Honestly at this point I think the only way they can get rid of Iger is for him to drop dead. 🤷♀️

@deegeekulberda-lo4dh Because in Iger's world, 'Who Framed Kim Kardashian' would be A billion dollar hit when in reality, it would be A slap in the face to Walt Disney's animation legacy.
The plan was always the message and the hope that ESG and the WEF would bail them out of any trouble with taxpayer dollars.

Also, see what they do to the tings you love. If you see less of what you like, and more of what you hate, that's when you know bad people are in charged.
One might argue that they are too big - and way too convinced of a particular ideology. Now that the economic picture has shifted, they are too slow to react. Oh well, not my problem.
The day they announced a series about Agatha after WandaVision was over without any prior planning is the day I knew there's no planning. They just saw Agatha was a popular villain and boom, gave her a whole series.
Planning is the most important part of running anything, not just a movie business. I guess they all have been arguing too much amongst themselves to come up with a plan. I always said wokeness wasn't the main reason for their downfall. It is their over-reliance on ESG money solely without any proper plan to make money externally that led to their downfall. Holy crap, these companies usually have Plan B and Plan C too if Plan A fails. What the hell, even an amateur can tell this $hit was run by clowns who do not think long term.
Democrats don't "do" planning. Remember the Defund the Police and the social workers? Still waiting after 3.5 years.
Supposedly, wokeness is a byproduct of their ESG obsession. They HAVE to be woke to get a higher score.
I guess investors were really led to believe that as long as they're riding ESG they can take the loss in actual customers. "Disney is too big to fail" or so they thought. They "only" have to hold out for at least one generation while they socially engineer people to conform to their standards. Just weather the storm until those ol' "far right istaphobes" die of old age.
They went all in on Plan A (ESG) and they did think long term. They just didn't have a backup plan in case it fails miserably because having a Plan B or C would imply they didn't believe in the ideology from the start.
Let’s be honest here, even in phase 1-3 it was obvious that there was no giant master plan. They were doing some planning, but they also produced less and were still focused on the main characters from the comics. It was easier back then to connect the movies and develop it into the infinity saga while moving forward. But in the end it was as much luck as it was planning.
Also, phase 4 started with Black Widow, Shang-Chi and Eternals … how much more proof did we need to understand that they just threw stuff at a wall and hoped something would stick? Nothing did, so they went with Loki and WandaVision, two tv series, as the main MCU storylines. Yeah, it’s definitely all just improvised despite us thinking that spending roughly a billion on movies and series per year would leave some money for planning.

Can they sue Bob for running the company to the ground??
I wish they would.
Shareholder can sue Disney for violating the fiduciary obligation of their CEO
I don't believe that Bob has any personal liability unless it is proven he has intentionally misled the shareholders directly. Disney, though, can eat a lot of pain.
Bob could not have stopped Disney from going woke if he tried. Stop blaming everything on one guy; as with any other co-opted institution, the problem is hiring practices across the past few decades.
Humans will always find ways to work around commands that they don't like. The only cure is to find different humans.
@@danielbob2628 It’s not the wokeness that has crushed Disney as a company, it’s Disney+ which was Iger’s baby. Launching that streaming service forced them to dump hundreds of millions of dollars into new content for it every year for the foreseeable future to try to gain and retain the subscribers they were trying to get. It would have been much smarter to focus on high quality projects for theaters while licensing their current IPs to streaming services such as Netflix, Amazon and Apple. The streaming service is going to go down as one of the worst business decisions made in this century. It’s the stem issue that has over saturated the market with the IP’s content, pushing out subpar content to keep the wheels of new products on Disney+ turning and has been a blackhole of a money pit with no foreseeable future ROI. I would wager that Disney will pull the plug on Disney+ before the end of this decade after Iger is no longer CEO.
Disney needs to just hurry up and get a jump start on their impending dirt nap. Their squirming is just sad at this point.

In a nutshell
Yep;The Big Three is helping to destroy our society.
Finally the investors are starting to wake up.
I mean... they're only realizing it now?? They're alittle behind.... Maybe Iger kept blowing pixie dust in their faces 😂
@13thMaiden - Disney is a prime example of what I call "Management By Crisis". It's like driving down the road while reading a newspaper. When you're about to hit something or someone, you spin the steering wheel, barely avoiding disaster. Then you go back to reading the newspaper while driving, having learned nothing. This is Disney. Overpaid for Fox movies - learned nothing. Make woke versions of classic movies and fail - learned nothing. Desecrate favorite rides like Pirates, Jungle Cruise, Journey into Imagination, and Splash Mountain - learned nothing.
They had a plan… it was just bad.
Their plan looked like this:
1) make everything woke.
2) ????
3) Profit.
I haven't been to Disneyland since I was a kid and I doubt I've missed anything good over the years.
Depends on when you were a kid. They still had some cool stuff opening in the mid-2000s, from the look of it.
$60 billion over 10 years for all their parks + cruise ships is not that much money at all. I'd wager that's actually barely covering upkeep, especially since they've expanded their theme parks and cruise lines worldwide. Perhaps investors did the math and caught onto that as well? It's like Apple trying to sell their new iPhone's features -- doesn't take a genius to notice that they're trying to pass the same features off as something new, and not buy into it.
It’d be very interesting to know if that 60 billion is in addition to upkeep or is just overall. It’d definitely make a difference.
@@GTA1395 Was wondering if this was on top of money that was already planned or if this was just the amount of money they assigned to it.
Spend $60 billion when they can’t even succeed as stock tanks. Makes perfect sense to me, knowing that Hewey Dewey and Louie are in charge of finance.
In this economy, how can any normal person justify the 1000's it costs to go to a Disney park (unless you live close by)... Hotel, food, admission, ummmm nope...
Somehow Disney still needs to cough up billions for Hulu.
Where the hell is that money going to come from?
It's gonna get apocalyptic for the Magic Kingdom.
It will come from debt and selling ABC. It’s not going to be apocalyptic, but the higher interest rates will hurt Disney and they will go hard into cost cutting. They will also need to find an answer to ever growing expenses of producing entertainment in California. Netflix has South Korea and other places on the world, to bring down cost. Disney will need to find a similar alternative, before the unions drive them into bankruptcy. But their main problem is the decline of their content, without content, neither merchandise not parks can be turned around for good.
@@davidgantenbein9362 If you were in the market for something like ABC, and you knew that Disney was (and is) desperate, you wouldn't agree to 10 Billion, would you ? Why pay more ? I would start at 1 Billion or lower, and negotiate from there. I would pay as little for ABC as possible. It's just good business practices, after all. Negotiate from strength.

For former House of Mouse super fans like everyone in my family used to be, the ship has sailed on ever returning to anything Disney. The prices are more than I will ever spend, the over the top woke attitude and actions, the disrepair and filth of the parks and hotels, the crap attitudes of the cast members, and the arrogance of both Bobs has made anything Disney unnecessary.
Of course they don’t have a plan, “Bob Ignores” doesn’t have the imagination to think up a new movie title let alone any idea on how to adapted to reality that the name Disney isn’t worth shit anymore, largely thanks to him

Some Disney apparachik is reading this and saying "Hey Bob, I've got a great idea"
I suspect that the "1000 acres" that Disney will be changing, will partially consist of installing toll boths between the various areas, to charge its patrons as much as possible, especially if they want to enjoy multiple attractions in different zones
How about an EXIT tollbooth? (If park visitors can't pay the exit fee, they become "minimum wage Disney maintenance workers" until their bill is paid off.)

@@bluecollie55_movies25 Well put. Disney has been degenerating right before our eyes for decades. And not even that gradually! It was very noticeable. The last few years have been particularly nasty, but it was always happening.

Ah, to be a fly on the wall in Bob’s shower. He’s probably flipping out in his office 😂
I don't need to see the man love going on in Bob's shower.
1st it was 17 billion, and now its 60 billion. They're in massive debt and I think its all talk and is just to make investors happy. Make investors happy by actually promising your promises, do your job Bob, and bringing back Dividends wouldn't hurt too, although I don't think they could afford doing that atm.
It’s 60 billion over ten years. As another channel explained, the resulting 6 billion investments into parks and cruises is what Disney has done the last couple of years. Given current inflation, this is already a decrease in spending compared to before, not an increase. On top of that, Disney seemingly announced to put a lot of that money into more cruise ships. Which means even less money for the parks.
Bottom line: 60 billion sounds like a lot, but it’s actually Disney announcing a investment reduction for the parks; they just try to sell it as the opposite.
@davidgantenbein9362 and upkeep on a cruise ship is mad expensive and can't be deferred.
Defer maintenance in a theme park and you have to close some rides.
Defer maintenance on a cruise ship and now you have to explain to congress why the navy and coast guard had to spend millions on rescuing your passengers.
Their inability to manage multiple different businesses is a strong argument in favor of breaking it all up.
So sad that current and past leadership have completely destroyed the company. 😢
Correction: their plan failed, _now_ they have none.
60 billion dollars?? That should fund a meet up or two. With the Seven Magical Castoffs.
It actually doesn’t do a lot. It’s 60 billion over ten years, which brings it down to 6 billions a year. And that’s roughly what Disney was investing into parks and cruises in the past anyway. Adding inflation and the fact that some of it is spent on new cruise ships, the overall yearly money invested into the parks is actually going down. (WDW Pro as source here)
Can someone file a lawsuit claiming that the Board and Iger have failed in their fiduciary duties? I think that it is now the only way to hold anyone accountable.
No lawyer would take the case. They are afraid of Disney's legal department.
To lose one CFO might be regarded as misfortune; to lose two looks like carelessness...
Thinking about making a Disney remix to DMX's _"Rough Ryders"_ called "Stock, Drop" 😅
At this point, the Disney board are the underpants gnomes. I'm waiting for a Peltz led hostile takeover.
How iger and Kathleen Kennedy are still employed is beyond me
A weak board, hand picked by Bob Iger himself, when investors considered him to be their savior.
To get Bob Iger and his cronies out, the investors would need to replace the board completely first. But instead we will probably see Bob Iger doing the Chapek trick a second time instead.
PS: Kathleen Kennedy is probably just really good at doing what upper management wants, so she is safe in her job. As indication for that, I would point out that Lucasfilm was just the first division to go woke, not the only one. Marvel, Pixar and Disney studios all followed Lucasfilm in that regard, which tells us that it was mandatory from higher up.
The greatest irony is that the one person that could fix this mess is the one person that got fired.
At this point I assume he's just stalling and wasting money with business as usual until WW3 happens and then Disney won't matter anymore.
"You couldn't live with your own failure, Where did that bring you? Back to me." - Theme Parks
Most of the "expansion" is in the forgein parks.
We have to just accept that, unfortunately, Disney isn’t going anywhere or changing anytime soon.
I want to be wrong.
Dropped my Disney+ at the last rate increase announcement, sold my stock at a high point (yay me), going to HHN in Orlando. Haven't been to wdw since pre covid. Costs way too much
I like Busch Gardens Tampa, myself. Disney is too controlling, with all their reservations. Not sure what you mean by HHN. Is it fun ? BTW, I'm cancelling Hidive streaming myself. Think of it as the waste bin of old anime.
‘Sold my stock?’
Not a clue.
None so blind, Disney.
Here’s how I would use that money… first clean the park, it needs it. Second is re-theme galaxies edge to Tatooine. Third and final, tear down that monstrosity that is the failed starcruiser hotel and replace it with a more traditional hotel with the Star Wars theming and price it like all the normal hotels.
As far as that open land, leave it till there is a property worth using it on.
Keep the Starcruiser, but change the experience. Recruit the girls from Orange Blossom Trail road. Fit them with Disney Princess dresses, and let select, wealthy guests role play with their favorite Disney Princess. They pick the princess. The princess will attend the parks with you, dine with you, take photos with you, and (if you negotiate an additional fee with them), they will attend you in the bedroom for a very special "happy ending". Perhaps have "happy ending" photos taken for an additional fee. What a souvenir !
I must have one of these Dismal kingdom shirts 😂 oh my gosh I love you two 😘
Inb4Disney makes a ride that is just a slow roller coaster that goes through a mall sized gift store.
Investors !!!!! Run away from Disney with your money 💸💸💸💸💸
Disney parks were making money while the entertainment was losing big time. Those who rode the Snowwhite at Disneyland could see the quality difference. Time to revamp and add other new rides. Considering how much was spent on Galaxy edge they could have come up with more than with two rides.
"The plan is to throw good money after bad money!"
I think what is most telling about how unprepared Disney is and how they are unable to handle emergencies in general is how they handled their workforce at the start of the shutdown three years ago. Disney simply laid-off, pardon, I meant "furloughed" (insert scornful tone here) everyone that was not high-up in management (with the exception of some security and maintenance personnel.) Meanwhile, Universal/Comcast reportedly paid their full-timers and gave the part-timers a few weeks of pay while they were shut down. I don't have the details, but I've talked to Universal employees who have confirmed they were paid until the parks re-opened about six weeks later. Meanwhile, Disney cast-members were left swinging in the wind. The college program kids from overseas were in the worst position. They were left without pay and no way to go home. I am contemptuous of Disney for this alone, not to mention all the agenda $#!% they've been ramming down our throats this last 6 to 7 years. I HIGHLY doubt Disney was run this poorly twenty years ago.
Disney not only has no plan yet they're charging more, their rep is destroyed. Universal on the other hand us doing everything better and has things from IP's people want. Super Nintendo World and Harry Potter are two HUGE examples of this, meanwhile Galaxies Edge gives the fans nothing.
Hope the worst for Disney and co, this is what they get
Yet an narcisstic overlord bites the dust!
I mean heck my little sister, who was a big Disneyland goer, is not going as much as they used to. Also is it possible to buy just the Previously on Clownfish comics by themselves? I would love to buy that as a stand alone. Please and thank you
"Don't worry investors, we're going to recklessly spend our way out of this debt!"
Gee, I wonder why investors weren't satisfied with this plan...
But, those investors still haven't sold their stock. Dolts.
I can imagine how good the re-makes could have been, and it's appalling what activists have done to out entertainment and world as-a-whole 😕
The park itself is an attraction. It should never feel like an open air mall with some rides and attractions. If the cost of admission is high, the average guest will be more mindful of the cash the spend on the trip.
as YellowFlash pointed out in multiple of his YT-Videos, the Themeparks are (or better: were) the places where Diznee made lots of it´s money - maybe even enough to compensate at least some of their plenty other failures. but Diznee shouldn´t focus on expansion alone and first start maintaining and renovating the existing things, if they´re so run down and worn out.
I can't wait to stand in the middle of some 1000 acres just to see more character meet and greets. NOT!
If their CEO was paying attention to something other than money in his pockets and other heads' pockets, they would have been ahead of the game and had stuff ready to compete. Clean house!
You should always have a plan. And a plan B and C to be on the safe side.
The thumbnail gives me an idea with that one scene in V for Vendetta where Big Ben blows up but instead it’s the Disney castle lol
LiL Bob vs big Bob was the funniest video in a while
The park was successful because people loved the entertainment. people don't like the entertainment value anymore. Kids don't care about the characters they are pushing. Soon there will be no reason to go to the park.
Disney forgot that their main audience is…kids. Not adult children.
See from what this tells me is that Disney is blind (or in denial) to the real problem they have.
Disney has frustrated and/or angered much of the audience it once had.
And the fact of the matter is Disney cannot survive without it's audience, once formerly known to Disney as "The Paying Customer".
Even worse is "most" of said audience now a days has realized something Disney doesn't want anyone ever to realize.
We don't need Disney, Disney needs us.
Pearlmutter looks better and better everyday.
to quote happy gilmore "now you're gonna get it bobby!"
How much of that is actually going to giving proper maintenance to the parks? Because I bet you it'll be chump change next to whatever percentage the big wigs are slipping into their own pockets.
Disney is a company in denial.
At this point, Disney should go into the birthday suit industry. They've lost credibility to be family friendly.
That’s kinda been the whole problem with Disney, their content was always way too vanilla and safe
Why would people go to your parks!? When they HATE everything you've done for years!? THINK BOB! :P
Every day that Disney gets weaker and becomes closer to irrelevance, Nintendo/Universal become stronger (there’s also Sega and Paramount with their movies. Sega has some popular IPs for movies).
Disney announced their plan to embezzle, err, I mean spend 60 billion of their investors money on the parks.
Disney has NO PLAN!
Disney has NO PLAN!
Disney has NO PLAN!
This is sounding more and more like the story of the billion dollar ice cream cone .

rest in peace Disney studio, company & Parks anytime soon
Surprising and Curious that you don't use an ad blocker or use obfuscation of those ads (pixelate/blur/blackout)
They are going to put up more instagram walls to hide broken rides
🤣🤣 Wallcot! Wall-land! Those influencer walls make people come to theme parks. Nope but sure makes it funny to laugh at pixie dusters Disney adults.
Universal Orlando is incredible and it’s way better than disneys garbage. The city walk before you get in the park is a park of its own filled with restaurants, movies and party opportunities.
Yellow flash said Bob Iger has Presidential aspirations, is that true?
He does, but everyone hates him now.
They should have stayed focused on entertainment only, and not the political agenda.
It's almost like its all just a big shell game being played on top of a house of cards
Im sure they will be ok when that $1500 box set comes out. 😂😂😂😂😂😂😂😂
Disney shot itself the day the producers diverged away from what Walt knew worked.
Disney’s plans are to toss shit at the wall and see what sticks. Although you can’t really polish a turd. XD
they took that saying too literally with this leftist messaging stuff.
Howdy Geeky! Hi Kneon.
