No matter what, this song will always remind me of my cousin. When he was little my aunt sang this to him before he went to sleep. Sadly he died on march 31 of this year and it tore my aunt up. He was her first born son and her closest son. He had just gotten his life turned around for his 5 year old son and was on his way to get a refill of his seizure meds. But they wouldn’t give it to him even though he’d been taking them for 10 years. He had a seizure driving back and got in a wreck. He survived but was in the icu. But they let him out only 10 hours later. The only visible injuries were just his lip from biting down on it. He was walking just fine too. But a week later he was found dead. My aunt requested this song to be played at the funeral and every time I hear it I think of him

There l discovered the lyrics and fell in love with it without realky perceiving the meaning. During 2022 lent, my pastor used as one of the hymns for the period. No matter what, this song will always remind me of my cousin. When he was little my aunt sang this to him before he went to sleep. Sadly he died on march 31 of this year and it tore my aunt up. He was her first born son and her closest son. He had just gotten his life turned around for his 5 year old son and was on his way to get a refill of his seizure meds. But they wouldn’t give it to him even though he’d been taking them for 10 years. He had a seizure driving back and got in a wreck. He survived but was in the icu. But they let him out only 10 hours later. The only visible injuries were just his lip from biting down on it. He was walking just fine too. But a week later he was found dead. My aunt requested this song to be played at the funeral and every time I hear it I think of him

Praise God. Suddenly this praise song whispers in my ears today as my tears dropped. My beloved husband left us two years ago giving me those 43 beautiful years which i cherised till we meet again in glory. Yes, i will cherised this old rugged cross. To all those who shared the same fate of losing our loved ones, l pray that God will always be near us to take care of us. Amen. ❤

My maternal grandmother's favorite hymn. I miss her. She loved me so much. In a church pew with the hymnal singing those beautiful hymns. We knew most hyms and didn't need the hymnal, but it felt wonderful to hold that piece of gold. I love you, Grammy. I know where you are

I fall inlove to this song the first time i hear on the prayer during mg father's wake lastnyt 😭
The priest who presided my mother's funeral inserted this song in the funeral programme he proposed and l accepted not realy knowing what it means. It was rendered on that day in church. There l discovered the lyrics and fell in love with it without realky perceiving the meaning. During 2022 lent, my pastor used as one of the hymns for the period. There l came to discover what it is all about and loved it more. The Old Rugged cross compliments Ecclesiastes 2:24-26 on the vanité of everything in this world. It reminds us that what matters is Jesus! I invite all often troubled by the happenings around them ti zlways lusten to The Old Rugged Cross for upliftment. Amen!

@@ryujin1522 Too many contradictions in the bible, no real proof when asked to provide it, i cant believe in something based on a blind faith that others use as an answer, just because you believe in something that doesnt make it real. I could just as easily believe in fairies and a fairy realm that i will goto when i die, as i can a god and heaven and to be honest i prefer the fairy idea lol. Dont mean to be offensive but thats just my way of thinking on the subject. Also the bible was written by men, for men, now knowing men on a daily basis i know that i can send my husband to the store for 5 items and he'll maybe come back with 3 that i wanted and 6 that i didn't, yet these men remembered all these things all the words spoken and didnt bend the story to fit a narrative at any point.. that I cant believe.

I just got a cochlear implant switched on yesterday. Everything sounds like beeps, whistles, and Alvin, Theodore, and Simon, so far. This is my favorite hymn, so I popped in to see if it's at all recognizable. It isn't really, but I am getting a sense of the rhythm and a few vowel sounds. Makes me happy.
It could take a year before hearing music rather naturally.
