  • The Poacher's Knot is often referred to as the "Double Fisherman Loop" or "Double Overhand Loop". It is used to attach the end of the rope to a carabiner or other fixed object. Arborists use this knot to attach one end of the rope to their saddle. It is a strong knot that is suitable for life support. This knot is sometimes referred to (incorrectly) as the "Scaffold Knot". The Scaffold Knot is similar but has three wraps around the rope instead of two (See Ashley's Book of Knots).
