you'll never walk alone is not just the clubs anthem, it was also used after 97 liverpool fans died at the hillsborough disaster in 1989, they also remember those people with that song
I’m an Arsenal supporter but honestly you can’t beat Liverpool’s passion when they sing their song. This was a special match in Melbourne & the whole stadium was singing
Carol . Have you been to Anfield? If not please do when your Gunners are playing at Anfield. No two ways you ways you will be blown away in what we we do
@@veronicaukynwa8489 sadly not I visited on a non match day when I was on holiday in Chester to pay my respects at the Hillsborough memorial. One of these days hopefully
I’m an Arsenal fan as well, I hate Liverpool but they’ve got some of the best, most loyal fans in the world. 2005 Champions League Final. Down 3-0 at halftime to a world beating Milan side. And those Liverpool fans in Istanbul REFUSED to give up.
This was a friendly at the MCG, Melbourne. I was lucky enough to go to this match. The walk to the G was spectacular as well. 96,000 people sang this and it was brilliant. 🌹
I've always loved this song. I'm not really a football fan, but after Hillsborough, & listening to the passion the Liverpool fans sing, it took on an even more meaningful place in my heart. I've performed it many times at all sorts of different, often very emotional, occasions. It just has words & a melody that cuts deep into the emotions & resonates with so many people. Loved this reaction H, fab as always. Peace, love & happiness everybody x
I'm a DEFINATE LIVERPOOL supporter!!! Left Ireland to Liverpool UK in 1962 when I was 2 yrs old!!! They are just the best EVER! You'll never walk alone!! xx Gerry & the Pacemakeers - fab!!
it's a song remembering Liverpool supporters who died took a long time to get justice and answers. As a villa supporter we love the scouse fans they are top we also now have their old captain as our boss who we love ❤ much respect to Liverpool fans from a villa fan 👏 xx
Great comment, thank you and I hope Villa have a great season ahead. Gerrard is shaping up to be a very good manager...Rangers fans still appreciate what he did for them.
Not sure if you are aware of the semblance of this song to Liverpool Football Club. Its a song to remember the Hillsborough disaster on the 15th April 1989 when 97 fans were killed whilst trapped in the Stadium because of overcrowding. The Police on the day believed the crowds we being unruly and didnt assist for a long time. They were so wrong with absolute tragic results. Its an extremely poignant song not only for Liverpool, but I believe for every person in the Uk who were completely shocked at the events of that day. The people of Liverpool, the families who lost so much are an absolute credit to their loved ones with this amazing everlasting song of love to them
I have a tear everytime I hear the fans sing y.n.w.a as me my dad and brother all support lfc for life and I had y.n.w.a played at my dad's funeral when I placed my lfc jacket on top of my dad's coffin before it went threw the curtain.
There are stories of people who have traveled from New Zealand, Japan, South Korea, The Phillipines, Indonesia and further afield for this one off game against Melbourne Victory at the MCG.
6os pop song taken by Liverpool FC as their anthem it is fantastic to hear the crowd sing this. Gerry and the Pacemakers released this it was played in dance clubs as the last dance.
Mate am from Liverpool, UK.. i can not watch this without getting goosebumps.. were a passionate people because its been us against the rest even against our own country to the point some of us even feel more foreign than english so we stick together as a city on its own and a lot of fans have nothing else to put their heart into except football because most of us are stuck in poverty poor communities with nothing else to be positive about.. kids are born into it as the passion is passed down through generations, a red team or blue team depending on what our parents support.. kids dream of becoming a footballer and to some its only way to escape so its a big thing to many people here.. personally i lost the passion when i become a man and couldnt bare these models who play now and cry when they fall over haha.. thanks for the love for doing this video and a big shout out to our american cousins !!!
Hi HCR What makes this even more special is it's a pre-season friendly in Melbourne, Australia 11000 miles from Liverpool's home ground Anfield in England, Even though I'm a lifelong Arsenal fan Full Respect to Liverpool & their fans, This is the greatest football anthem in the world Period. Anyway all the best dude cheers Jim, Surrey, England
What is particularly telling is that this was NOT a Liverpool home game but actually a pre-season friendly on the other side of the world (Melbourne, Australia) and in a country where it is not even the dominant football code. Liverpool's history with YNWA dates back to 1963 when Liverpool band Gerry and the Pacemakers recording went to no1 on the UK charts and when played over the PA at Anfield, the fans sang along and it became a "fixture" even when YNWA left the charts.
The fact that this is in AUSTRALIA makes it all the more powerful. This is the greatest song in all of the sports fixtures. I am English and Liverpool is not my team but on the international field we support them different vibe on match day at home home or away. Football is in our DNA it is the most followed sport in the world the only country who do not have football as their main sport is America and for stupid reasons as well. They can not stop the game every fifteen minutes for the adverts. My mom was born and raised in Liverpool. My pops was Irish and I was born in Geordie land. quite a mixture. The most magnificent part is all the races mixing together there is no problem with race here yes odd ones who are idiots and are usually dealt with. The song became so much more after Hillsborough. I was taken to my first football match as a 3 year old and only because my mom was in hospital having just had my youngest sister and I went to every single home game until I was old enough to travel with my pops and brothers to the away games. There is nothing like FOOTBALL. English teams have huge fanbases.
YNWA came from the musical 'Carousel' many have sung it, including #MarioLanza my heavenly nan's favourite. Gerry & the pacemakers made it popular. Also #FerryCrossTheMersey. Also Dortmund have adopted YNWA too, brilliant video when both sets of fans sing it. Respect.
50 years a red and this rendition of YNWA has to be up there with the very best ever ,and staged on the other side of the world from Liverpool, which reflects just how big tLiverpool Football club is 👏👏👏
In Nijmegen (Netherlands) we have de Vierdaagse, or "the Walk of the World". I used to live next to the starting point and on the first day of walking (4 in a row), the walkers sing this song too, at 4 in the morning. I had goosebumps every time. Hopefully there will be another Vierdaagse in 2022, it will be the 100th one.
The Audience ? That is US OUR Liverpool family what we we every home game away game and in Europe, We are a family that stand together. We Never Walk Alone
For the sake of these people, it's worth busting your ass on the field until your last breath! I'm a football fan too (not Liverpool though, but Dynamo Kyiv), so I really felt this fantastic atmosphere to the point of goosebumps
I don't think 95,000 English fans travelled to Australia just to watch this friendly match lol. Liverpool is a very popular club in Australia (my own brother has supported them since he was a kid). Most of the fans in the stadium would have been Australians, or people from nearby countries like NZ.
They take their football very seriously in Liverpool. Their late manager is famous for saying “Some people think football is a matter of life and death. I don't like that attitude. I can assure them it is much more serious than that”. Also, this was an away game. Literally on the other side of the world.
I just have brainwave. In this stadium are just as much people as that you have followers on your channel Paul. Tink 1 sec about that Fact . Absurd isn't it?? Jacco Valkenburg. 😄💪
This ain’t even the best one. This was during pre season in Australia. The best video of it would be from after we slapped Barca 4-0 with the players singing back into the Kop end.

So, this is in Australia? I’ve only been to Anfield once in 1975. When I saw this video, I thought, “Wow, it’s been done over.” I see the Bill Shankly banner. Was this in honor of Bill? Or anything to do with what happened in 1989 with the deaths of 97 fans? Heartbreaking time, but so much time has passed. Anyway, I would appreciate the feedback. I’m back home in San Rafael, California again. Thanks🖖 I’m an American who lived in Liverpool on the mid-1970s. To say it was a “magic time” would be an understatement. Loved every minute.
