- This is the BenQ GV30 - the Word's first-ever 2.1 portable projector! In this unboxing and review, I talk about what you get in the box, and what it's like to actually use this unusual looking projector.
The GV30 has an LED bulb and will last up to 30,000 hours. It also supports an external (full size) HDMI input, which means you can hook up a console such as an Xbox or Playstation, and play on the big screen (at 60fps!!)
I have always like BenQ products, and this new GV30 is another great one! Yes, it could be better in a few ways, mainly the 720p resolution. 1080p or higher would be the sweet spot, but even at 720p, it's not bad at all.

That is a... weird looking projector man hahaha. Amazing video as always Roger!! And honestly if you like minimalism, having a 2.1 sound inside is great! Even more so for portable use!

I’m looking for a projector to use on a wall in a studio apartment… I really do love this design, the built-in speakers, and the build quality. It is slightly dissapointing that it isn’t native 1080p, but I saw a comparison video with other projectors, and despite the lower resolution, it seemed to have much better color accuracy and contrast for a similar price. Not to mention, BenQ is a well-respected brand, and I’m sure it will last far longer then all the generic $300 options on Amazon.
This projector is the best! My brother brought it to my house and I was completely sold just in the audio this produces alone. I have an outdoor inflatable screen with a more generic projector. The issue with my projector is I would need to connect a smart device to it through hdmi and then my JBL Extreme speaker for better audio. This Benq has everything except Netflix.

Ace review, if it was 1080p i would if got one of these for my campervan, love benq i have a tk850 and its so amazing, ill keep my eyes peeled for a 1080p portable, new sub 👌🏻

The resolution is the one thing holding this one back I think. 1080p would have been perfect. Hopefully they’ll release an updated version in the future.

Epson ef100 can do ceiling projection as well.
This one is probably the best portable projector out there now. The only drawback is the price.
At similar price, you could easily get a non-portable projector which works well under lit conditions (but needs to be plugged in). It'll be dramatically better viewing experience than GV30 at the cost of portability.
So i think BenQ GV30 is probably one of the best options in a camping scenario (but need to prepare power bank due to its weakness in battery life). But in bedroom, I'd still go with non-portable options for much much better viewing experience. Either that or projectors at half this price.
For camping scenario, I think XGIMI's Halo+ is a great option to consider too!! Powerful built-in battery, 1080p FHD, bright 900 ANSI lumens and it's only 3.53 pounds! My ideal portable projector.

This is almost a year old product. Wondering if Benq has any plans for a successor that does 1080p with higher lumens.
Lamp user replaceable? I can't find anything on replacing it or what the led bulb is. Thanks

quick question. do the eyes recognise the difference between 1080p and 720p?
Can u use this for outdoor? And can u connect to Bose speaker?
i much prefer the capsule approach to mini projectors by Anker, just hoping the anker capsule 3 as at least 300 ansi this time though as long as they can keep the fan as quiet.
The GV30 definitely has an unusual shape. I did get used to it though after a while. The capsule is a great design - that is true! Thanks for taking a look 👍🏻
capsule 3 needs 1080, 4 direction keystone, 300 lumens, while unplugged and 400 while plugged in via USBC
if that happens it's a must buy.
I just tested a Mogo pro, Xgimi Halo and capsule 2, I've sent them all back because although the halo is amazing (video and sound) it's just not as portable as the capsule or the Mogo (which both aren't bright enough at 300lum max
How can I use Netflix ? It says the app isn’t compatible and airplay won’t recognize the device?

We are almost in 2022. And benq is still making 720P projector. There is no price vs performance advantage here. benq design is really good, but Seems budgets we're spent mostly on design. Same as GV1, nice design, sucks in specs
Can you use cromecast on it?
Yes you can cast to it (you don’t need to connect a Chromecast as it’s built in) and you can also use AirPlay if you have an Apple device. Hope that helps 😎
Love the design but unfortunately you lost me at 720p. For the price point it's very expensive for 720p resolution considering good dlp single chip projectors at full 1080p are at the same price point eg viewsonic. Awsome review very good looking unit. Just bring it down in price and it might be worth investing in it
