I am a pilot with Laporte Volunteer Fire/EMS. We purchased the M30T along with light/speaker and 2 controllers. Having dual controllers allows us to have 1 person dedicated to pilot and another to control camera operations. We hook the camera controller to a TV via the HDMI out. Prior to this, we were using a Mavic 2 enterprise. This drone is worth the upgrade. With that said we still have the Mavic2 in service it definitely has it's place. It is smaller and can fit in tight places the M30 can't. I didn't realize there was a setting for light intensity. I will have to check that out. Thanks for the awesome video. 😊
Thanks for the comment, its always interesting to hear how other public safety professionals are using the equipment. I am testing a high brightness monitor for my mobile command post that I think will be of interest. This unit is IP69 water resistant and is much easier to see than my TV. I'll post a video soon. Thanks for your service to the community!
@@BillBongle I know this video is old but I hope they have an updated light that has a little variation on the spread. The intensity is nice but I feel like it's a little narrow unless you're flying at 500+ feet where the spread would come in a little more handy. I guess it's useful if you tie it in with the M30T and are just using the light to guide people in or giving the ground crews the power of the sun
In a search and rescue function, could you use thermal to find a victim and once found, turn on the spotlight and broadcast a message that help was on the way? You could hover with the spotlight on for rescuers to find the person more easily. We have a lot of snowmobile incidents in my area. Seems like that would be a great combination for that application.
Yes absolutely, thats a perfect use of the LP12. Since the light and the speaker are both integrated in the same unit there's no need to return to base to swap out accessories.
We have down this with our Autel EVO II 640T. It works great doing that. Love this package for the M30t and hope I can talk my Captain and Chief into purchasing it as well!
Fantastic info and you keep on doing your great work 👍👍. Thanks for sharing with us from DC Gaspe Coast Québec Canada 🍁 and let’s keep on droning safely always Brother Cheers 🍺👌👍
Another amazing tool !!! Right on time considering the events around the world. I would love to help finding missing people and helping the search forces. 👏👏👏
I think of all the times I could have used this when I was a patrol officer. We often had people take off from a traffic stop and run into areas too difficult to search on foot.
Hey buddy just found your RUclips and have been binge watching. Great information and great videos.. so you do any on mapping and modeling? It’s something I’d like to get into.. have a great day
Thanks for the comment, glad you enjoyed the videos! I've done some mapping. It's fascinating work and if you can develop some good clients, there's money to be made. The Mavic 3 Enterprise is a new favorite for mapping.
Great video, Nice review!! If any public Safety out there are in Need of Full drone SOP feel free to reach out this is part of our donation program for all public safety..
Thanks. I think the quality is good. I’ve not had any of these go bad since they were released. I’m a dealer so if you’d like to order one from me send me an email at info@titletowndrones.com
After viewing your reviews and a few others I purchased the M30T and the CZI LP12. I've been very pleased with the performance of both. One thing I've found a little annoying is the audio prompt for the LP12 on startup. The prompt is of an Asian female speaking in English announcing the LP12 is connected. I've connected the LP12 to a laptop and browsed the files but can't find this audio file or a way to turn this off. Have you come across this?
I have the DJI Wingsland Z15 spotlight on my M300 (had it a few years haven't tried out the spotlight yet!) so will be interesting to see how the Z15 compares to the LP12. Check out the IR10 Infrared Laser Zoom Spotlight - its an intense spotlight that can't be seen on the ground great for surveillance!!!
Yes infrared definitely has a place for tactical operations. Incidentally, Fox Fury Lighting caries some infrared beacons that you can put on your ground team to identify them from others. Contact me if you want to know more, I carry their stuff. -Bill info@titletowndrones.com
I would suggest to use some blue loc tite on the bracket screws. I’ve seen a circumstance where an accessory vibrated loose and during a turn it came off and took out a prop. Just fyi.
Very cool video. Do you do contracted work for local departments? Do most departments simply train an officer to fly or do most hire contractors to do this specialized work? I have my part 107 and film drone for around 50 weddings annually but doing commercial work like this for a local department would justify buying the M30.
Hi Jared, I have been contracted to train several departments. I've done Part 107 classes and flight training programs. Feel free to contact me directly at info@titletowndrones.com . We cab set up a call and I can fill you in.
Awesome video. The only one that actually show cases the light at work in the dark. My question is…can the spotlight point directly below the drone (perpendicular to the ground)?
Have you had the chance to check out the czi gl60 mini. Not sure if its available yet. Was just wondering if they might be a better option because i dont think i would use the speaker. It also moves all directions with the gimball
That megaphone is insane. I would fly it around the neighbourhood saying "this is the police, please stay in your houses. A lion has escaped the zoo." Hehe
Great demonstration and thank you for that! Too bad the live broadcast feature isn't exactly as picture perfect in its performance as all the other features of the LP12. That distortion loop is extremely irritating and I suspect that's the reason you didn't demonstrate it as I was looking to see if my buddy's unit was defective or not being operated correctly. At least the prerecorded delay is available and can be used as the workaround. Again thanks for this excellent content
Thank you for the comment James. The feedback loop is characteristic of any amplified audio system and isn't a problem unless you're up close. The direction of the speaker is also a factor. I do appreciate the time you took to provide your feedback. -Bill
I hear you, good news is prices have really come down from the time when the first thermal drones were introduced. They were well over $20K. Now you can get a Mavic 3 thermal or an Evo 2 640T for $6K to $7K.
Thank you for the video, good, useful tool, the text to speech function and megaphone speaker will be great to read out loud the Canonical Books of the New Testament and preaching!
Great review - I have learned a good deal from you. I have two of these units. I have the Search-Light / PA Speaker accessory for both. The problem is; when I select the PKSD icon on the controller - the control window opens, but does NOT contain any of the speaker / audio controls. All of the spot light controls as well as the Info icon are there, but the two microphones and Text-to-Speech icons are missing. I believe I have the latest version of the DJI app installed. Any ideas? Thank you in advance for any assistance you might be able to offer with this.
I experienced problems with the PSDK menu the first time I plugged in the cable. Half the icons were missing. Try plugging and unplugging cable into the drone. I was able to clear the error after doing this.
The same FAA requirements apply to this as any drone that is used commercially but there is nothing extra above that specifically for a drone with thermal or zoom capabilities. In the US, when you operate a drone for purposes other than recreation, you must first obtain a remote pilot certificate. To achieve this you must pass a written exam at an approved FAA testing facility. This is commonly referred to as the "Part 107 exam". You can learn more about this process here: titletowndrones.com/part-107-test-prep
What services are you referring? The M30T is a favorite for public safety agencies because if the ability to fly in inclement weather, thermal imaging and the incredible zoom capability. As for commercial work like inspections, I would suggest meeting up with potential clients and see what their needs are and what they are willing to pay. There are quite a few FB groups for commercial drone operators. Not everyone likes to give up their secrets but you may get some good advice. When calculating fees approach it like any business. Calculate the costs of your equipment, insurance, mileage, your time and then decide what you need to get to be profitable.
You hit the nail on the head by stating that no one wants to give away their secrets period from my research it doesn't appear there's much of a commercial market at all. In fact I believe that automation services and regulation are gonna completely do away with this industry. And then when we talk about money what are we talking about from an annual salary perspective?
Spotlight looks good but most drone spotlights i find r way overpriced. I use a turbo tactical flashlight on mine as a spotlight. It is 3500 lumens and weighs 4.8 ounces. You can also use headlamp lights, bicycle lights, keychain lights. Using phone, camera mounts, velcro, double sided stickers even string, rope you can mount pretty much anything to your drone long as its light enough in weight

Great brightness of that spotlight but the thing that really surprises me is tightness of that light spread. Fricken incredible!
