Therefore, they result in belittling those that are highly skilled. He was showing 3 different ways and eve the wrong way he used to. It was informative and thats what it is meant to be. This guy is a brilliant guitarist,why refuse to give him his due? This World is long for hatred and making light of true talent and praising those with a lack there of. His solos are so terrible that it's just laughable. Playing as fast as possible doesn't make you a good guitarist, let alone great. Compare that to Hendrix's solos. He plays fast, but he also plays smooth and knows how to groove. And yeah, I know comparing Li to Hendrix is a bit stupid since they're two different styles, and I know Dragonforce plays speed metal, but I think that genre isn't good to begin with. And Dragonforce is an example.

This was 6 years ago guys .... 6 fucking years ago. His playing is amazingly clean now .... This video was practically made at Dragonforce's peak within the mainstream media, plus him being 6 years younger and having a lot of big time pressure for the explosion of popularity for the band, im sure you wouldn't play perfect for a little while your selfs. A lot of people can play amazingly in their bedroom or at their local bar or club, but how about in front of thousands of constant strangers throughout different countries? Most of you wouldn't know how to properly begin to deal with such pressure and that is also why I appreciate his style and the band greatly along with many other artist in my forever long list of music within my phone playlist.

i had a chinese friend he told me that he will start practing guitar after 6 months he was almost playing like herman. I asked how come ? he said he practiced for 19 hours daily. the guy was rich tough he spent 60k for the guitars+gears and did not have to work

The problem is when he's doing it fast he's not rolling good at the sweeping and you can hear that some notes are missing. They are not there and they should be.
VancoldGH No, you're wrong, his doing it pretty well, the reason you can't hear the note is because he picked up the next note and the previous note would be muted. Be sensitive, you can't call it rolling unless there is something missing.

This guitar snobbery is too much. One could say Jimmy Page (Led Zeppelin) was a bit sloppy at times in his lead playing, but it had feeling and it's partly why he sounded great. You can lose these qualities if it's all clean and perfect, IMO. Variety and our unique approaches is a beautiful thing. He's showing you his. If we all learn the "correct" technique, sweep arpeggios will sound identical regardless of whos playing them. That said, no one should be learning a technique from one source anyway.

How do you play without feeling if you don’t love an instrument? I went to GIT with Herman back in 1992. He was a really bad guitarist but his country paid for him to live in Hollywood and spend many years at GIT studying. Even after 19yrs of playing he still isn't technically good but he knows what he is doing..
it's probably the guitar, sweeping sounds much better with active pickups, but the guitar in this video looks like it has passive pickups. It may be the amp too
Practice, Practice and Practice the shredding technique is difficult to new guitarists. But I also recommend to do a slow tempo to practice before a fast tempo to nail it with a Metronome. Herman Li is the best guitarist!

...It is. There is no emotion behind his guitar playing. He just plays as fast as he can and as technically proficient as he can. Technical skill =/= talent.
