If anyone cares to read this, ive been struggling very very hard with depression lately, and RUclips recommended this video. I clicked because of the title, Dear Agony. I had never heard a single BB song before, but by the time a minute went by, I was crying and after the song was over, I somehow felt better. So I hit replay, then I hit it again. That was an hour ago and I'm still listening. Thank you Ben and God bless you
Yeah man I've been dealing with depression since I got back from Iraq over ten years ago and this song hits hard everyone I listen too it. I won't say it gets easier as time goes by, but you learn to deal with it and avoid things that will cause it. Number one thing, forgive yourself and stop thinking you're worthless. Everyone matters to somebody. Number two, just get the hell out of bed.
I hope you're feeling better as of today, keep fighting and find comfort in the things you like, one step at a time, things will get better. Other amazing acoustic versions are "Without You" and "Give me a Sign", but you should definitely listen to all their albums, I think you'll enjoy them a lot.
+Jimmy Sweeney I had the great privilege of seeing them on tour with Three Days Grace (when Adam was still leading) a few years back, and wow. Both groups were amazing, but I've always been a bigger Breaking Benjamin fan. At the show I went to, they did a great cover of Dream On that remains the best one I've ever heard. tl;dr: OP, if you ever get the chance to see them live, do it. Absolutely 1,000% worth it, and as you can tell here, yes, Ben really does sound just as incredible live as in the studio.
***** yes I have seen them live. I seen them in New York this past September. I am seeing them in an acoustic set the end of this month. I agree with you, they are great live!
Same, my dad asked me if i wanted to see a breaking ben concert and i said no because most singers actually suck at unedited singing and like 2 days after it happened nearby i was listening to them and only realized that it was a live video at then end because his voice is so amazing!
+Kiara Decker i dont think so, dude is very loved by his fans, high rated by critics, you just have to let go this feeling that things you really like should go popular, they shouldn't.
+Fred Souza you re kind of right, but you cant say that, its frustrating to know that some shit like bvb has more views than this(sry fo bad english im argentinian)

This is the standard musicians should be held to. The man literally needs no editing to sound exactly the way he does on his records. The Autotune epidemic is a joke. REAL musicians get passed over everyday because of what's 'trendy' because of what can be done with electronic tuning. Unfortunately, it'll never turn back either, it's only going to get worse from here. We're fortunate that we still get to see musicians like this, because pretty soon, there won't be many, if any, left.
To be precise, auto-tune is not everything in music post-processing. There're lots of different process, using various tools. Although these tools are not born to be bad, but many artists rely strictly to them and that's what make the music industry goes down hill. And yes, this is what musicians/singers need. A true talent!!
Me too, I was in 7th grade though, I'll be 21 in April of 24, this song gives me the strength to go on whenever I feel like I have no more. Then it was because of bullying and some other things, now it's my health, this is my fight song. I'm in pain and I have no answers, so this is what keeps me going.
This song also helped me from 8th grade to now. Going to be 20 this year, and I’m still going strong! Breaking Benjamin really helped me through my darkest times! And I’m sure it did for almost everyone here!
he has i think the most expressive singing voice ive ever heard. you can hear pure anger and rage in some songs, and pure heartache in others. pretty incredible

This has been my favorite band since they first came out. Still listen to every song religiously everyday in the gym. My girlfriend surprised me with tickets to their concert in Indianapolis next month.. Can't wait.
Hell yeah man! They're definitely up there in my books. A perfect mixture of heavy feels and comforting melodics. Some of their jams can make ya shed a tear and then lift you up and light a fire of inspiration within you all at once. I have the opportunity to see them twice now, and I gotta say, the new band members are awesome! They even did a pretty epic full cover of Aenima by Tool and fucking nailed it! Fantastic performance live! I'm sure you'll have a blast dude. Sing along till the ol' voice gives out! Hahaha hope y'all have a good time at the show man! Keep on rockin!
Seeing this man up again... his voice at his prime again.. who should have known 3 years ago he was very ill no recovery whats so ever and it was very painful to watch his live performances as he was always trying to pull up and do his best to not let down his fans. This really brings joy to my life.. You go Ben!!! Do a few singles with Adam Gontier! :D Cheers!
Ben is one of today's most incredible singer/songwriter/guitar player the today's rock scene has. He is awesome live and very nice and down to earth is person. I absolutely LOVE him!!!
This album came out while I was in the marines, I was being medivaced home from over seas and coming home to a divorce because my wife cheated on me while also getting my body fixed. I bought the album being a long time breaking benjamin fan and it hit me in my soul so damn hard. I was driving home and had to pull over to the side of the road when the words gripped my soul. In this moment I knew I wasnt alone. No matter how different our experiences may be, there is someone out there who has experienced the same as me and they lived through it. It gave me the strength I needed to push through my trials I was going through at the time. Here I am many years later doing well. But when I hear this song now I am reminded of where I came from and how hard I worked. It's a beautiful feeling!
@@T1Atlas I am so glad you made it through and are doing well now! You're a warrior and Phoenix rising from the dark night of the soul. That all was a catalyst to your growth. You are correct that you are never alone! Pain and suffering also overcoming are all universal 👏🙌
I still don't understand how artists like Breaking Benjamin aren't even in the top 100 in the world. I guess everyone has become blind to what true musical talent really is. I've heard him perform in studio, no autotune, no electronic effects of any kind, and he sounds exactly the same as he does here and on the albums. Absolutely, in my personal opinion, one of the greatest voices and lyricist of the 2000s till now. I can argue it all day, please, someone challenge that statement if you must.

Fici I have yet to find a full-length recording of this live. Electric anyways. I guess you could consider this a live acoustic version but it's not the traditional live setting

Fici I think it's to emotional to be played all the time or even again
I'm assuming that's why they hardly play anything from 'Dear Agony' live ('I Will Not Bow' was the only one from that album they did when I saw them), which is a shame as that's my favourite album of theirs. I also don't think they've ever played 'Without You' live.
Well, Give Me a Sign is also one that they play live. Maybe it's because of the way those songs are composed and they can't play them live, as Dear Agony does sound like it has more guitars playing than in other songs. But that is what I think. Probably not true tho.
they can't perform Without You live because in that song they have used a keyboard in that song and I don't think Breaking Benjamin ever uses a synth live
Derek Lutz no this dude is the best singer I know. He doesn't half ass his live singing he makes sure he sounds EXACTLY like the album unlike alot of these guys that just go on stage and basically talk into the microphone and dont put any effort into it. Ben is a truely gifted singer and doesn't use computers to tune his voice
Just his fucking head movements on the powerful notes to make sure not to peak the mic levels or anything.... that ALONE makes him an amazing artist. Then you just add everything else in the equation and you have yourself one of the top singer/songwriters of our time. Every album is amazing and fresh, yet just like their other music. They hold true to THEIR sound that they created. I can tell a Breaking Benjamin song instantly moreso than most other music. 20 years and still going strong, I love it!
By far my favorite band of ALL! Every song gives me goose bumps, when this man can touch my soul everytime he sings, that REALLY says something... Would die happy if I could go to an all acoustic show.
I was paranoid at one time of my life addicted to methamphetamine thinking everyone was going to kill me this song takes me back to what I went through and helps me deal with it I just learned that on guitar It will be on my RUclips channel pretty soon. Great song very personal to me
Everyone has a favorite song that changes from time to time. But this... This is different, this is something else. It's my favorite song for a long time, and it's going to stay that way until "Agony" finally decides to "let go of me."
Grew up to this man. Love the guy like I know him. I feel as if I do just from seeing him do stuff like this. It's more than a song, it's him reaching out as a helping hand to us in need, or its him telling his story through a beautiful song. You pick. Thank you Ben Burnley. (My dad's name is Benjamin by the way)
This is why I love Breaking Benjamin!! I tear up not just from the lyrics, but from the natural talent of Ben’s voice! Past and present, this band will always have a place in my heart! Thank you BB for your awesome music!
My son introduced me to this guys music about 4 months ago and now I'm an avid fan !! His songwriting is honest and from the soul which makes it so meaningful. Most of us struggle with expressing our emotions but Ben just opens his soul for anyone who can bare to look. This song is the first song I heard from Breaking Benjamin and it says for me what I've been struggling to express for years as I was diagnosed with MS 3 years ago and one of the worst things is to have an almost "invisible" illness. Can't wait for you guys to come to England. UK, keep up the great work !! xxxx
there is just so much pain in his voice that it reminds me for all the times ive been hurt. and i can imagine my grandpas last few months of life by this song
Leave me alone… God let me go… This humble request to end the suffering in n the bridge of this beautiful piece of music is what makes this a masterpiece!
This song relates to my life so much. My dad hates me, my sister doesnt give a fuck about anybody and my mom has a mental health problem where she abuses people. Oh and i also sung this song at the school talent show :I i won it but it wasnt a big deal.
Ben is so talented and truly the sweetest, most humble guy. I've met him a few times and he went above and beyond to make the experience matter. Love him forever!
Dear God this man is amazing. Ive never heard another musicion have so much passion in his voice like Ben does. Ive loved them since I could define what good music is. All the way from Saturate to Ember and Ive loved every single song that they made. Ive NEVER loved a band more than I do BB and thats never changing!

I have nothing left to give
I have found the perfect end
You were made to make it hurt
Disappear into the dirt
Carry me to heaven's arms
Light the way and let me go
Take the time to take my breath

And I will find the enemy within
Cause I can feel it crawl beneath my skin

i feel you man, i keep practicing every day and see some progress. you can do it man please don’t give up please!!!
20 years and still going strong, I love it!
sounds just good as the recording
agree
Better
It is better. It's like it has more soul in accoustic
Who’s still loving this masterpiece in 2022?
I am
2024 🎉
By far my favorite band of ALL! Every song gives me goose bumps, when this man can touch my soul everytime he sings, that REALLY says something... Would die happy if I could go to an all acoustic show.
I was paranoid at one time of my life addicted to methamphetamine thinking everyone was going to kill me this song takes me back to what I went through and helps me deal with it I just learned that on guitar It will be on my RUclips channel pretty soon. Great song very personal to me

😂😂😂😂
Oh god, this band has made me cry so much. One beautiful song after another. Unbelievable.
Best solo acoustic I ever seen. Thanks !
Everyone has a favorite song that changes from time to time. But this... This is different, this is something else.
It's my favorite song for a long time, and it's going to stay that way until "Agony" finally decides to "let go of me."
So much raw emotions with the sigh at the end OMG I just died and gone to heaven ❤
His voice is amazing will always love this one of my favorites
Ben looked like was playing like his life was in danger if he didn't play this perfectly. Well done! He deserves more props!
Legend. If your listening to this in 2022 you are a legend as well. The goat band.
My go to song when I need to cry but can't. Always a tear jerker.. That's how you know its a great song.
I feel ya.
:)
Ashley Burch same...literally one of the most amazing songs I have ever heard, you can tell that was wrote straight from the heart
UK, keep up the great work !! xxxx
I would be surprised if they ever go overseas. Ben had a really big fear of flying, so they have never toured out of the US because of it.
Most beautiful voice I've ever heard. so much emotion. each note perfect. Wish i could hear his voice in person
Why can’t I like this more?!
o my😍😱😱 love this song and his voice 😍 my heart hurts🙌🙌
This is awesome. Ben has one of the best voices in music. Probably one of the most underrated bands of all time.
Just an absolute amazing voice
This band is amazing no words to explain his voice with full of emotions
there is just so much pain in his voice that it reminds me for all the times ive been hurt. and i can imagine my grandpas last few months of life by this song
Leave me alone… God let me go…
This humble request to end the suffering in n the bridge of this beautiful piece of music is what makes this a masterpiece!
He is such an amazing artist, so sad he doesn't get enough recognition
Such a talent Ben is! His voice is superb and digs into my soul. My favorite vocalist of all time.❤

You can tell the feels went right through him at the end.
When ever I'm feeling down I listen to this.
This song relates to my life so much. My dad hates me, my sister doesnt give a fuck about anybody and my mom has a mental health problem where she abuses people.
Oh and i also sung this song at the school talent show :I i won it but it wasnt a big deal.
And looking back on my comment it gets worse.
Lol
Ben is so talented and truly the sweetest, most humble guy. I've met him a few times and he went above and beyond to make the experience matter. Love him forever!
Pure talent ,100% natural , no autotune
True Sounds 🤘
He can sometimes be hit or miss live, as anyone realistically is. But this is definitely a HIT! ❤❤❤❤❤ Absolute chills!
I seen them back in may in Lexington Kentucky and they were incredible
This is so beautiful ♡
Criminally underrated singer honestly and a solid guitarist he’s unique and I love it
When I pass I would like this song played at my funeral, I'm serious this truly made me cry
this is actually in my will, to play this exact version of Dear Agony at my funeral....
This is one of the best acoustic versions of any song I've heard. Great voice! Sound just as good in person too
It's hard to listen to this without that whelp in the back of your throat forming.
you must be from the south. only southern momos call it a whelp.... LOLOLOLO
Dear God this man is amazing. Ive never heard another musicion have so much passion in his voice like Ben does. Ive loved them since I could define what good music is. All the way from Saturate to Ember and Ive loved every single song that they made. Ive NEVER loved a band more than I do BB and thats never changing!
this is such an awesome version! It sounds so good acoustic, and it really shows off his amazing voice :D
This song helped me get through a very tough part of my life. Cliche I know, but music heals. And Breaking Benjamin did just that. Thank you.
