A case is oddly optional but does in fact exist for a reason. I seen people making cardboard cases just to avoid spending money for a metal box with holes in it. A massive fire hazard but it works. Building a computer without a case is oddly common.
New games are trash and generally not interesting. The only interesting games that's come out recently are Boneworks and Half-Life Alyx. Everything else is a remaster, re-release, or reskin of something that's been done before.

Loved this game as a kid, the cutscenes & in game manual had so much backstory/effort put into them. The single player campaign had more diverse missions than you find on the usual RTS of the day
As someone who loved Total Annihilation and this was the first game I got after getting my own computer I was understandably devestated. I remember playing through the campaign and having the most jaded feeling of doubt about what actually constitutes fun. It was like having the dollar store version of your favorite meal.
Yeah nobody would ever play this game for "fun". The campaign missions always felt like being handed an atlatl and being told to fight a Metal Gear, or being told to smush an anthill, but with a very specific boot. One mission that was actually fun though; controlling a lone assassin with invisibility powers and OHKO throwing daggers that has to sneak into a town to kill some targets and escape to a certain direction. For an RTS, it did great replicating a regular 3D adventure game level so it stuck out. Also I fucked around nearly blowing my cover destroying some buildings and walls by throwing daggers at them because I found out I could do that.
The most nostalgic moment was when you clicked on the dragon in the main menu and it puffed smoke. I felt that. This was one of the first games I ever played/owned. I still have my pc silver discount copy. Thanks for this!

Hell, i even found my old original CD for it. Looked through the old disc collection in a drawer next to me, and there it was :) Man, that game sucked. I remember i was completely stoked about playing another game from Cavedog, only to discover that it was so very boring. TA put them on the map and TA:K took em right off it.
I, on the other hand, really liked this game, the narrative in the campaign and the Story was really interesting to me at that time, even though it was absurdy hard at times, and required you to undertake certain Action in a very specific way, but i still remember it fondly, as a Part of my childhood

Real life in a nutshell
As someone who loved Total Annihilation and this was the first game I got after getting my own computer I was understandably devestated. I remember playing through the campaign and having the most jaded feeling of doubt about what actually constitutes fun. It was like having the dollar store version of your favorite meal.

Yeah nobody would ever play this game for "fun". The campaign missions always felt like being handed an atlatl and being told to fight a Metal Gear, or being told to smush an anthill, but with a very specific boot.
One mission that was actually fun though; controlling a lone assassin with invisibility powers and OHKO throwing daggers that has to sneak into a town to kill some targets and escape to a certain direction. For an RTS, it did great replicating a regular 3D adventure game level so it stuck out. Also I fucked around nearly blowing my cover destroying some buildings and walls by throwing daggers at them because I found out I could do that.
The most nostalgic moment was when you clicked on the dragon in the main menu and it puffed smoke. I felt that. This was one of the first games I ever played/owned. I still have my pc silver discount copy. Thanks for this!
This is the most I've seen of Sseth showing human emotions.

For someone usually as mired in irony and humor as Sseth, that sincere statement and change of tone at the end hit like a load of bricks.
Finally, after all these years, I finally find someone who also played this game
Hell, i even found my old original CD for it. Looked through the old disc collection in a drawer next to me, and there it was :) Man, that game sucked. I remember i was completely stoked about playing another game from Cavedog, only to discover that it was so very boring. TA put them on the map and TA:K took em right off it.
I, on the other hand, really liked this game, the narrative in the campaign and the Story was really interesting to me at that time, even though it was absurdy hard at times, and required you to undertake certain Action in a very specific way, but i still remember it fondly, as a Part of my childhood
@@MrLancar Lol, I remember buying it and finding inside the CD files a video showing the devs inside the Cavedog HQ where they show a 1/1 statue of Taros. Can't find the video anywhere. If you can find it and post on RUclips would be great
@@RafaelBrum Well. since i got nothing better to do I just turned the CD inside out, and only found in-game video stuff, no cavedog devs or statue. I couldn't get into the .cab files tho, so maybe its part of the installed stuff?
I really liked this game when I was a kid. I've played it recently but found it unbalanced (trebuchet lol). On the other hands, I really like the perspective and the map editor was easy to use
