Nothing more beautiful and subtle than a jazz ballad perfectly performed by a great artist. A very special moment indeed. Thank you so much Chad.🙏
Q: Which do you prefer, Chad's technical ability on fast pieces, his skill soloing over multiple, complex changes in a song, or his soulful playing on ballads?
A: Yes
Haha thanks so much! That really means a lot.
Lindíssimo!
Chad - you inspire people like me who work in another field and will probably never create at this level to - nevertheless - pick up the horn and play something almost everyday.
It's like you've received the whole tradition of the music and are now carrying it to an impossible level of sophistication and beauty. And - through your performing and teaching - you're taking us with you. Your love and care for the music is evident.
Gratitude.
That being said, if you teleported back to Minton's or any of those historic jam sessions, if you wanted to, you could probably cut anyone - Prez, Hawk, Byas, Bird, Sonny (either one), Dexter, Griff, Hank...whoever. And Stanley T would have to dig into the reserves to find more soul. And I think they'd all be pissed and kind of proud at the same time.
Bach would have been happy with this, as we all were. Ya really oughta do more ballads.
gorgeous .. with a nod to J S Bach at the end.
