Thank you for the kind words. Love this kit. It turned out to be a beast of a guitar. Been playing it a lot lately. Good luck on your build.

Good Video , I was wondering if this is real zebrano wood and not a synthetic or manipulated wood that is made to look like Zebrawood , Reason I ask is I am interested in building a guitar from a kit out of this kind of wood and some had said the Bad Cat kit guitars are not real zebrano wood but some synthetic material that's made to look like real wood or it's a natural wood made to look like zebrano and I don't want to build something that's not 100% authentic

So i have heard that it may not be real zebrawood as well. I’m not sure if it is or not unfortunately. All i know is it’s a boat anchor so while looks cool it weighs a ton so since building it i have only played it live one time. The rest of the time its just a wall hanger.

hello i recently got a strat kit, ensamble it an its unplayable, the neck is too high so i tried to sand the nut and the body/neck union but after 12 fret just is imposible the frets mute the strings... any ideas?

Have you tried to adjust the trussrod? Also are the frets level? Sounds like you need a good setup.

Hey there I was looking at all the different zebra kits they look awesome. Did you get the laminated zebra wood one for 350. Or the press composite That’s called Bakelite for 219? The Bakelite ones made from formaldehyde

Hi there great videos, watched both parts and based off your videos I went for the same thing ^_^ . Was one of those things where I kept coming back to it(and you know when you do that you're probably going to buy it :D ) , then after watching I went for it.
The look on your face when you saw it in person, I'm hoping I'm going to be the same :) literally just ordered it from ebay.
Can I just ask, I see you used tru oil on the body and neck. I've really been getting into modifying guitars in the last year or so, last time I used my own homemade wipe on poly, I really don't like working with the stuff though. It did do a good job but it was seriously messy and hard to keep things from contaminating what I'd done haha.
Sorry for rambling, the question is, how much tru oil did you use for the entire neck and body? I've seen so many people swear by it, I know it's not cheap so don't want to get more than I need. Which bottle size did you use?
Anyway sorry for the long message, I just got super excited when I saw someone had made an amazing guitar out of the kit I was looking at :)

So the best thing about Tru oil is there’s no right or wrong answer on how many coats to use. I tend to use 6 to 10 coats. The 1st two coats are pretty heavy to real seal in whatever my chosen finish is. Then the rest are very thing cost to build up a good finish. Some people do up to 30 thin coats but personally I don’t find that necessary. Also if you want it to be really glossy I sometimes thin the last two coats with clear mineral spirits.

In my worthless opinion, If you dont mind if I share... In response to you changing the plastics to a wood look, I feel like it would make your guitar TOO matchy matchy.. If it was my guitar I would use a black pick guard with gold hardware all around for a classy high end appearance. For a straight up rock look I would choose brushed nickel hardware with the black guard. Chrome always made a guitar look cheap to me.. Anyway, Zebra wood its a beautiful hardwood. It is a crime when people cover it in solid paint..

I want to get one of the 'Zebrawood' kits, so I googled it all, and found that it is not REAL Zebrawood. It is a man made material called Engineered wood. It is layers pressed together then cut into guitar bodies. No wood on earth looks like this stuff. It's actually very unhealthy to sand down and breathe the dust since it isn't even wood, it's like dyed epoxy'd pressed layers. Google images of real Zebrawood, you'll see that it is nothing like the guitar that they claim is Zebrawood. It is false advertising. they say there's a disclaimer, NO there ISN'T. The only one telling you is me.

Yeah, I found out about that after I built it. No disclaimer at all which is a bummer. Luckily I only lightly sanded it…lol It’s super heavy so while it looks cool it’s become a wall Hanger for decoration.
