this is great. i love these interviews with Steven Lambert. i have Revenge of the Ninja and Ninja 3 the Domination on blu-ray. the 80s had some of the coolest ninja films ever made.
Domination was amazing back in the day. Opening scene still really great now.
Yep the 3rd on is awesome… it made me want to be possessed by a ninja spirit when I was a kid
I love this channel. I was born in 82' so I love these movies. So many questions I always wondered about have been answered since watching your videos.
I'm so glad you've been able to get these interviews with Steven! He's a goldmine of cool stories on so many of my all-time favorite movies!
Steven Lambert is my favorite guest on viking samurai. i love his stories and knowledge
Revenge of the ninja was my favorite martial arts movie as a kid . I must've watched it on vhs a 100 times growing. It was so cool to hear about all the behind the scenes stuff that went into making that film.
This video is another treasure. A lot of insightful information about an excellent Canon classic. Man, Steven Lambert is right. It's horrible when take credit for something you've done and his work on all this films are a great legacy and a big part of the culture of their times. Once again, great job Viking Samurai👌👍✌
I am a simple man, I see Frank Dux I click.
If I had billions I’d bring back Cannon. I wouldn’t worry about it making money. It just be about making great movies that we’re not afraid to go against the grain. I really want this sort of thing to come back even though I know that is unlikely
Great stuff!
I'd happily direct and write for you!
@@chriswilson3126 if I ever get that kind of cash I’ll let you know lol
All star in the movies I'd be like Beverly hills ninja..Kung fool
You don't need lots of $ you need lots of cocaine
Frank Dux's only ninja trick is making the beer disappear.
I really enjoy your interviews with Stephen Lambert, insightful & nostalgic. Hes been in so many of my childhood favorites & I never knew that b4 I started watching ur channel... keep up the good work & will u review Van dammes latest flick?
Ya, I'll review that.
I bet that Steven Lambert could still do that front flip over a wall. Awesome vid as always! One of the best parts is that still shot of Frank Dux. He looks like a dad trying to do a Karate stance.
Another great interview! 👍
I love listening to him talk on actiin films. Anyone interested in doing stunts or action movies could learn alot from Steven Lambert
American Ninja 2 was filmed in Cape Town when I lived there. We saw them filming on the beach and my brother bought the same motorbike years and years later. Love these interviews, cool stuff man.
Weird. They never filmed in my area in Indiana 🤔
@@aplus1080 I never got why they filmed in Cape Town but never made a deal about it being there, they pretended it was somewhere else. Maybe because the apartheid regime was on at the time? A lot of places use Cape Town to represent the Carribean- even Black Sails, I think it may be to do with the deep rough waters and ship building expertise out there, they are very clever with their navy etc being resourceful with limited finances.
Great again. Can't wait for part 3. Can you please aso Steve, what he thinks of Sho Kosugi as fighters? And Steve , thank you for all this sharing. Nice greetings from Austria 😊
Revenge of the Ninja is definitely my favorite of the Sho Kosugi ninja films; watched it a lot as a kid.
Viking your show is becoming a classic.
Great Videos. Please do Avenging Force next!
YES! Avenging Force and American Ninja 1 and 2 were my favorite movies. Michael Dudikoff and Steve James were the best!
I remember training at the Dux Ryu Dojo one night in Woodland Hills, and Frank, and a few other guys left early to go watch them film Revenge of the Ninja in the streets of L.A hoping to catch a glimpse of Sho Kosugi.
True story
I agree with Stephen Lambert you should be remembered for everything he's ever done he definitely is an artist he's very good at his job if it's playing a bad guy or stunt double maybe you can be a good guy one of these days as well either way I believe everyone that does anything in their life if it's career or whatever they should definitely be remembered respected and honored for whatever it is that they did because that is their legacy and I enjoyed that movie where he played the silver masked ninja as a little kid he was kind of scary to me but it was an awesome moving I was very excited
Man I love this series of interviews
One of my all time favorite movies that my daughter enjoys as well. I always rooted for Braden at the end lol 😂
Your first 5 link brings me right back here
Love this in sight to one of my favorite movies as a kid
Keith Vitali got justice in the end, he got to be in Hong Kong classic Wheels On Meals and one of the greatest American martial arts films ever - No Retreat No Surrender 3: Blood Brothers.
Man I. F'ing. Looooove. NRNS.
Ninja Secret # 5: Sue Van Damme for not giving me credit that I didn't deserve in his movies.
It's probably true that Keith Vitali was gonna be marketed on the poster as the lead because it was already done with the Ninja 3 and the female Ninja aswell as with Black eagle and Van Damme even though he was barely in the movie.
Back in those days(and unfortunately some what still to this day) wasn't seen as commercially viable to have an Asian lead. Going back even to Bruce Lee when they got a white actor David Carradine to play the Kung Fu Lead and in Enter the Dragon where Bruce had to "share" the lead role with a white actor John Saxon as displayed in the opening title credits.
I was always curious to know where they got the Oni mask from? Was it made or bought? Thanks for these interviews.
Sho Kosugi I am sure remembers how Bruce was treated and said that’s not happening here. I respect this martial artist but a Ninja was always promoted as only another Ninja can stop a Ninja. Sho I believe knows more about this then everyone on set, so I am glad that it was filmed his way. It’s his story
I see pictures of Steven lambert flexing his kicks and frank dux doesn't have pictures of him doing squad lol.
God DAMMIT I loved those movies so much.
Master Christopher Chandler hop gar kung fu I'm big fan of you allways
Actually, I may have been at the North Hollywood Dojo that night.
I trained at both locations and that was just about the same time that Dux, opened his other Dojo in Woodland Hills. That was 40 years ago.
Oooo, yeahhh, noooo, we don't take away Ninja 3. How about just add another movie with Sho and Keith lol
I agree 👍 And I loved Ninja 3 too
@@punisher7772 Lucinda Dickie with a sword! Wooooo
Sho is the best_______ 🇯🇵
P.s man can you do a review video about sho in pray for death? Thanks👍🏻🙏🏻
I haven't seen that yet 😳😳😳
I can´t believe it.. All these years, THE COWBOY was actually the silver ninja and Ninja lll´s ALL NINJAS?????? Wow.... (By the way, shame on you for critizicing Ninja 3 😡😡) Great material, have you interviewed him on his martial arts backround? All the best from Argentina 😉
I liked Ninja Domination too. It was cheesy but I still enjoyed it. Especially that golf course and the battle with the cops scenes, excellent action !
Agreed. It's hate speech against Ninja 3 and it won't be tolerated! 😡
Another great interview! About Sho Kosugi not wanting to showcase Keith Vitali, there's an interview with Sho Kosugi in which he explains that the first idea of Revenge of the Ninja was to have two lead characters, Sho Kosugi and a white guy and Kosugi fought so hard to change this and have his son Kane Kosugi to be the one showcased in the movie. In the interview he said he was affraid to be replaced by another actor like it happend to Mike Stone in Enter the Ninja. Guess he just didn't wanted to take risks.
here the interview in case you haven't seen it: ruclips.net/video/mURWatbLTxA/видео.html
Whoa sick. Thanks for the back story!
uhmm, after hearing this interview; my opinion on Sho Kosugi changed, he seems insecure and selfish. not letting the other co-star shine which would have made it a fuller more rounded film, he wanted to be the only one to show off. still overall another great interview, keep it up!
That's cos he kinda sucked, and he knew it.
Yeah but also it was 30+ years ago and f it.
Close your eyes when steven talks...he totally sounds like Donald trump 😆
Sho Kosugi made the trilogy "Ninja" and became a true legend. Its a really shame that fame and glory ends on 80s.
Talking of American Kickboxer 1, more people need to know of the star John Barrett. He's a great martial artist and probably the best actor of all the action stars.
Would love to see more lambert. Really interesting guy
Best ninja movie ever made
That arm would be a cool prop to own
Ninja 3 is great for Lucinda dickey alone.
Good follow-up video. Facts we didnt know. How they "winged it" a lot. Which might explain why they had "Cathy" the hot blonde in the film and yet not do what many of us likely expected. Why else do films bring in a beatuiful blonde or any beautiful woman ....in an action film....As I said....if she had done what we expected then the seduction scene would have made sense....minus the " Kasrate practice".... Didnt understand why they bothered to go that direction wit that scene and make it PG`13....
Would have been nice if you could have asked Steven if he knew why....even if this video was I guess about the MA aspect....
Or how they managed to leav in the scene where Shane gets a ninja star in hisi eye....or have "Cathy" fight Cane.....something that wouldnt have made it into a film today.
Eeep the videos coming :)
This is why Steven Lambert can't beat Frank Dux he has all the secrets in fighting in my opinion Frank is way to skilled in martial arts regardless if you think he's a fake or not dude is a legit bad ass
Based on what?
I know a ninja secret ....... Only a ninja can kill a ninja. So Frank Dux is not too kill 😜🤣🤣🤣
Get his book guys it's a good read 😎👍👍
Braden was bad ass !.
3:00 In the commentary on the Bluray they say that they hired a gymnast to do the flips
Ok I'll bite. What's in the super top secret box behind you?
I need to find a better hiding spot for that box.
@@VikingSamurai lol. Thought it might have been a little Easter egg for the viewers. Haha. Thanks for the great content as always! Brightens up my day man!
I'm confident that every 80's/90's Martial Arts megastar would smash Frank Dux. Norris, Seagal, Van Damme, Kosugi, Speakman, all these guys could've whooped Dux. Only if we would've got to see Frank Dux vs Count Dante.... that may have been his ultimate test.
Lol yeah definitely. Schwarzenegger might've even been able to own him all things considered. I've heard a few times that Arnie remembered all he was taught by his fight coordinators, and knew how to handle himself more than adequately, and he obviously had a high level of strength, fitness, and confidence. I wouldn't be surprised if even Stallone could've owned Dux too. He took a fair amount of accidental (and some wanted) bombs from dudes much bigger and stronger than him practically all the way through every Rocky film. Plus he had a round or 3 getting pummeled by Joe Frazer when he was testing him for what ended up being Mr.T's role in Rocky 3. I'm pretty confident that Dux never once experienced close to that level of pressure.
Definitely Speakman and Norris both excellent martial artist and can fight for real.
I believe Dux claimed to have known Dante. I think he said in a interview they were both taught by Tanaka.
Might want to look up jcvd he has a professional fight record...
Not seagal... My dead mother could beat seagal
please MAD MISSION 1.2.3...
That was a great serie,a lot of awesome stuntman.
Also Sidaris girls..the training and all..
Could be great.
It wasn't really a "robot" arm. It was a mannequin arm that just had stuffing poking out of the armpit. In ninjutsu, and in Naruto world, it's thought of as a "substitution jutsu." I can't recall the Japanese terminology for it. But it's where a ninja cleverly places an item or animal or doll likeness of a person that closely resembles the enemy to try and trick him, or use as a diversionary tactic.
And it's Sho Kosugi. Pronounced Co-sue-gee. Not Sho Kozuki. @ Steven Lambert
Great insight into this classic film?
Cannon did go all out on stunts sometimes, I’ll give them that.
I really don’t think it’s stupid Steven did a job and he was payed to do it and he manage to make a flim that is a cult following that people will never forget and thank you Steven.
I can see why SHO Kosugi didn't want Keith Vitali to be his equal in that movie. The ninjas supposed to be this very powerful almost mythical martial artist, and if he has a partner then it doesn't take a ninja to be that powerful. So I can kind of see it. But I love your videos and on this movie thank you so much I really enjoyed it
It’s much simpler than that, show business is a cutthroat business, and he didn’t want to be upstaged in his first starring role. especially considering he upstaged Mike Stone in enter the ninja, he didn’t want the same thing happening to him.
I think Lambert does not like Frank Dux.I read his massege to him. But,i really want to hear Dux and his version about trainings, about bloodsport.Steven Lambert make not real fights in the movies,i could not find any information about his martial arts,he study.
Not sure you can trust Dux and his side of the story.
I think it's better Keith died, Kosugi knew best. The movie was perfect the way it was.
They could have always made a different movie featuring Keith.
Should get sho kasugi on the show,he still alive?
yes he is
Anyone living on less than they make, needs to learn how to invest for a better future.
This is the best time to start up your CRYPTO TRADING investment now bitcoin is about $37k will be at the target of $70k soonest 🤗
Sho Kosugi is right because the concept was only a ninja can kill a ninja. So Keith had to die
Lambert's a TOOL
Why you say that?
Sho Kosugi sucks. Keith Vitali would have been a much better lead. Same with Van Damme in Black Eagle.
Sho Kosugi is an ok villain, but has no charisma as the hero at all.
What was the reason ninjas popularity exploded in the 1980s to such a level where it became almost unavoidable in pop culture and videogames? Who told white people about them existing? I would like to know that. Did Chuck Norris kill one while he was in the Delta force and then found scrolls telling everything about how to be ninjas? Why are to this day still no ninja robots in japan to assassinate enemies despite the fact that the ninja techniques are public knowledge? It makes no sense. It would not be hard to make a robot with muscle that are stronger than humans and it sneaks past security hacks the cameras, throws grapple knife into a guys gut and uppercuts them in the air like scorpion in mortal kombat and then if the opponent is not dead, it sets them on fire with built in flame thrower. This is technology that isn't futuristic but available now.
That sums up Lambert . A lot written in his head and very little show.. which translates to someone very delusional
No n ok n. Ml
Sho did all his own stunts not Steve.
