Tanner Anderson. I hate the word talent, but people like Tanner make me rethink my aversion to the concept. I've been fortunate enough to call Tanner a friend for quite awhile now, and am overjoyed to watch him evolve and grow as an artist particularly with Obsequiae. If you like "Non Serviam", with a touch of "Skydancer", and a sprinkle of "His Majesty at the Swamp," and if you don't need me to tell you what bands made those records, this episode, this band, and this man, are for you.
Tanner also treats us to an exclusive premiere of a new Obsequiae song, just for I Hate Music! So, please pass the aux to Tanner, and join us as we discuss Pizza Thrash, tons of obscure records, why the demo is always better, and the relevance of Dungeon Synth in 2022.

"I Hate Music" theme by Marius Sjoli.
    Bumper music by Obsequiae.
Featuring exclusive premiere of a new Obsequiae demo song!

Man, I LOVE what Tanner does, and his education and passion with what he does makes it SO unique in a wide field of sameness. There's an instant recognition when he does something. He's an underdog GENIUS in todays extreme metal world.

I love Obsequiae. I can define my music journey in a before and after Obsequiae. I think it is a hidden gem in music. I also believe it changed my life because, like Tanner said, it is my escape. It still is and I really can’t explain it. I love the medieval aspect and I hope Tanner never stops doing it. His music and smart, poetic lyrics are pure art.
This was a great podcast. Thank you. I have a huge admiration for Tanner and finding about him is hard. That sounded weird though but you know what I mean… people look up to who they admire and want to know about them.
I can hear Tanner’s work in Majesties too! Vast reaches unclaimed was an instant buy and I am currently obsessed with it. I have Aria, Palms and Vast Reaches unclaimed vinyls hanging in my office as paintings.
I enjoyed the exclusive track and can only hope to get it somewhere because it is not in Spotify and Obsequiae’s website does not sell it.
Again, thank you so much for this. Keep up the great work!

Tanner nails perfectly what he tried to get across with obsequiae music. It’s a escape into another world

The new Obsequiae song "Against All Feudal Lords" starts at 01:50:47.
Thanks for the interview and the insights Tanner had to offer to us.

Love Agalloch, and love anything Tanner is involved in. The debut Majesties record is absolutely phenomenal.
That Jason calls out I, Voidhanger in the beginning is a good thing. So many great artists on that label.
