The final Reed900 film from Octopunk Media is here! Detroit Reawakening takes place in the video game world of Detroit Become Human. It is a companion piece to our previous film, Detroit Evolution (which you can see • DETROIT EVOLUTION - De... )
Detroit Reawakening tells the origin story of a newly awakened android, Nines, and his enemies-to-lovers journey with his human partner, Detective Gavin Reed. Although lovers in the present, Gavin and Nines nostalgically reflect on their rocky early history, and the day that changed everything in their relationship. Built in the world of the video game Detroit Become Human, this short fan film comes from homegrown love of its fandom, and the Reed900 ship.
Much like its predecessor Detroit Evolution, this short film will center a gay asexual romance from queer own-voices creators, and we will bring back our core cast from Detroit Evolution - Maximilian Koger, Christopher Trindade, Michael Smallwood, and Carla Kim, alongside writer/director Michelle Iannantuono.

Who else noticed that Nines had taken off his LED and Gavin wore it as a necklace over his heart in the final scene?
I like how Gavin looks noticeably healthier in the present. It might just be the lighting, but his hair looks neater, his face is less “haunted”, and he looks happier and well-rested. Again, it might be my imagination, but if this was purposeful, it was an amazing little detail to add, to convey how happy he is with Nines.
he’s also genuinely sleeping when nines comes in to wake him which makes me really happy too
what i noticed is that he doesn't have the unkept stubble beard anymore, like in the first movie, a sign that he takes more care of himself then before as well.
I noticed that too! He probably gets more sleep because Nines is there (*If you remember from Detroit Evolution, (*insert one of Gavin and Nines cutest moments here*). I loved this so much is brought me to tears. I didn’t know that all I needed in life was to see Gavin and Nines happy, healthy and together ❤

throughout the flashbacks, nines’ LED is never blue. it’s constantly red or yellow, never changing. and then during the scene with he and gavin in gavin’s apartment when they watch a movie, eat and he calls him nines for the first time, it changes. the first time nines ever felt seen, heard, valued and content with where he is in his life.

It was almost a shock to me when I realized that this film, as well as Det. Evolution, is the only positive gay representation that i’ve seen in a film format that is the main focus in the narrative, isn’t sexualized or over-stereotyped, and doesn’t end in tragedy. The relationship is healthy and loving as well (at least in the present day of the film). I’ve only recently realized how important that representation is to me and other lgbt+ people, who are more often than not depicted as a flat stereotype or as someone to pour tragedy and angst onto, not as people who are capable of finding happiness, in a relationship and outside of it. thank you for your time and effort, octopunk.

OH MY GOD!! This was amazing!! It’s amazing to see the differences between Reawakening and Awakening. I think having it be combination sequel and prequel make it stand out. The scenes between Nines and Gavin when they’re a couple are soooo sweet and in no way take away from the emotions of the last Valentine’s Day. And seeing the intimacy between them grow and how much Gavin has softened to allow Nines to love and be kind to him is a goddamn gift. A GIFT I SAY!!

What the neam of the film
I love the small touches in this, like "Secondary objective: befriend Gavin Reed". The blue/yellow/red colour schemes are nicely done. And we still got the iconic "Gavin's ... Gavin" line. And we finally met the cat!! This is beautifully done!

The reference to Detroit Absolution at the end killed me! This was a masterpiece (especially the cinematography and end credit music! Maximillian also killed the acting; the differences between his Detroit Awakening and Reawakening performances was a treat to witness). You've once again outdone yourselves, Octopunk Media. Thank you to all who were involved in the project; it was so so nice seeing everyone again, and I can't wait until Livescreamers!

a little surprised with how emotional this film made me. my life has shifted drastically since i first saw evolution and the original detroit awakening, but i'm happy to know that i can always return to this community of amazing people. this film is truly a love letter to reed900. incredible work as always and congrats to the team

I just appreciate how everyone in this project is so dedicated to this entire thing! I can't believe it, a prequel to a movie I already love and adore so much - I'm just glad I was here during the premiere, and now, I can finally flex for being early to something for once (haha, deadlines are just not my style). Unfortunately, I do not have the ability to contain my excitement! That capability is simply just non existent, I can't wait for this to premiere. Thank you, Octopunk Media. For this, for everything, I'm glad all of you had fun with this, I had fun being a viewer, I just really appreciate everything all of you do, and I'm so gonna be addicted to this, (it'll practically feed my Detroit addiction). Well, looks like my next mission is to watch all of the videos from the Detroit Evolution playlist, I would love to see the entire process of the movie being made, and I always accomplish my mission. It's so nice to see these people back, and hear the familiar music and see the familiar bisexual lighting. As goodbyes go, I think this is a pretty perfect one
Even though I loved the first one back when I watched it, this is an improvement in so many ways. The camera work is incredible, the acting is somehow even better than before, the lighting is gorgeous, and TINA! I love that we have Tina in this one. I don't know if it's because you're getting better with every movie you're making, or because everyone involved has gotten more comfortable with the Detroit universe since you've stayed in it for a while, but this is seriously such a solid movie, and the perfect conclusion to the story. Thank you for remaking it, thank you to everyone who worked to make this happen

coming back here after finding my partner and finally being able to experience something as beautiful as love. I was 15 when evolution came out, 17 when this came out and now I'm 18 revisiting to remind myself that it wasn't long ago that I craved for the pure love that this film portrayed between Gavin and nines'. will forever love them and this film

You're so awesome, all of you. I know I'm gonna watch this short film as many times as I watch Evolution. It's so good.

this film was a whole load of nostalgia and new at the same time and it couldn't be more perfect. i forget so easily that this series is fan films of DBH, the octopunk versions of the characters are just how i see the characters now because they have taken on a life and uniqueness inside the octopunk universe that they would never have had without it. it was a joy to see the actors' portrayals of the characters now that they are so familiar to the roles, both in remakes of DA scenes and in the new scenes. maximilian's portrayal of nines really stood out to me, i love that nines retains his android-esque quirks and personality while at the same time having so much humanity. i found it really interesting how close gavin felt to the game version of the character in the Awakening scenes, in the original film it felt like the character was already evolving away from the game version, but in this, he could have come straight from the game. it made the evolution from DA gavin to present-day gavin all the stronger and super interesting to watch. i have to gush about the soundtrack too, it was beautiful hearing the original themes once more and if i'm correct, we got an austin bytts original credits song? it was an absolute bop too. i love the story and characters that octopunk has created, and this film was a perfect sendoff to the universe that they have made their own.

I watched the first one the month it came out and just got to watching this one. It still holds up as one of the best fan made works, it warms my heart so deeply. I'm on the ace spectrum, and this actually helped me realize that. This means so much to me as something I find comfort in. It's the first piece of media I consumed that had explicit ace rep that didn't make it seem bad. This relationship is based on love, and asexuality is a component of their relationship, it's not the center piece. I adore this so so much, thank you Octopunk Media

This was absolutely amazing. Damn, where to start. Gavin and Nines are so fucking adorable together. The characters are simple yet endearing. Actors did a great job, especially the actor playing Nines (is that a referece to Nier). He nailed the whole android thing. The setting and atmosphere makes this movie seem official (in my mind it's now canon to the game lol).
But my favorite part is that I love it was a more personal story. I hated when Detroit went the generic android rebellion route. Not that it was bad but I felt it was done to death so I wasn't so much into it. This is what I wanted to see, an android discovering life by just living. Amazing job, everyone involved in this project deserves an applause.
God these actors, the production team, they NEVER disappoint. I hope they get more recognition, they absolutely deserve it. U guys r the best💙💙

Воспоминания Гэвина и Найнса рассказывают нам о том, как главным героям нелегко было наладить общение с самого начала. Так интересно было смотреть, наблюдать, переживать. Очень помогали переходы с прошлого на настоящее время, где у Гэвина и Найнса всё хорошо, где они любят друг друга (как будто глоток воздуха в кульминационные моменты). Это прекрасный фильм, прекрасное продолжение первой части. Я рада, что посмотрела его. У меня прям какое-то счастье на душе. Хочу ещё раз сказать вам большое спасибо за вашу проделанную работу. THE INTIMACY!!!! I loved everything about this just as I knew I would. Maximilian and Chris had me 🥺 the entire time!!! Their chemistry has only grown since Detroit Evolution, and I’m so glad to have seen it grown, yet feel so bittersweet that this is the last time I’ll see them as Gavin and Nines together onscreen!

In addition to the obviously huge work done and the overall beautiful narrative line and all that, I just want to say: I love these small details SO much!! the way Gavin has bruises and stubble in flashbacks, but they are not in real time, because he is now truly finally happy with Nines~
The grey shirt with the LED necklace Gavin was wearing reminds me of the LitoPerezito's REED900 comics hahah. If it was a reference to it from this studio I LOVED it. I also LOVED this movie, wished it was longer but considering all the effort, love and hours put on it I don't mind it being shorter.

I am delighted with this movie. I had my head turned by the lighting on Detroit Evolution, and then the love story, and this more of the things I liked best. The journey the lighting of the flashbacks tells, from stark whites and muted greys - with Gavin as the splash of colour even then - going through blue and orange, to soft pink and soft romantic haze in the present scenes, I love it.

I haven’t stopped smiling. I was so giddy seeing this pop up in my notifications. I don’t know how to describe how amazing all of it was. From filming to acting to sound design to special effects to sets to lighting to like all of it was absolutely brilliant. To everyone apart of this, thank you for this amazing film(Detroit Evolution included because that beautiful film lead me to finding this channel), thank you for making me laugh, smile, cry, etc. This will be going on my “Joy in a Playlist” playlist to be watched several times over. The final sequences may or may not have killed me, I'll never say. I love your videos so much, and I always need to praise this light and beautiful photography. I don't think we give Tina and Chris proper credit for this couple, because Gavin and Nines would be scratching themselves to this day if it weren't for these two (as if they don't do it as a couple).
And to think, Chris didn't even notice he was playing matchmaker. (shocked pikachu face)

It's unreal how happy I am right now. This was perfection, it was like a prequel and an epilogue at the same time and it was so beautifully done! Ahhh I'm overjoyed
I love that there were no hokey attempts at gadgets or "special effects." Keeping characters emotional and down-to-earth kept it believable. Now, I must see more.

Definitely the best fan movie about the game that can be seen. The actors are great and the whole production looks like that. 100 times better than the vast majority of current filmography. Masterpiece. I love you guys. ❤By the way ... I'd really like your movies to hit theaters or netflix. You all deserve it. And we would get even better movies than you produce now.

THIS IS ABSOLUTELY STUNNING. My friend gotten me into this fandom. I watched Jacksepticeye play the game, bought it myself, played it, got into the videos, and then found this BEAUTIFUL PIECE OF ART! From the scenery, to the character portrayal, the dialogue, the relationship between Gavin and Nines(Rook) that never feels forced! I adore it! I adore you guys!
