    Trevor built this kit in an evening. A simple ply wood frame is enclosed in a folder foam card kit with 2 servos, receiver/ESC circuit board and 30mm electric ducted fan (EDF) unit. Our receiver came with support for the FrSky D16 protocol so we could use it with the RadioMaster TX16S Mk2 transmitter. After some trimming out for level flight it flew quite well despite the heavy wind. A rough landing cause some minor damage but it is already fixed and ready for its next flight in calmer weather !

    Thanks for the shout out Dom, I'm still flying mine, she seems almost indestructable, a great great little jet, that's about the same wind speed that I had for my maiden as well lol, cheers

    I don’t know how you do it well I do your a great pilot. That little plane no gyro and 20 mph winds I figured it would be a disaster. I can’t fly without a gyro and I know it’s because of my skill level i have some great planes but im afraid to fly them because i dont want to wreck them. Great flight👍👍👍👍👍🇨🇦🇨🇦🇨🇦

      Constant wind down the strip is a lot of fun to fly in. Makes for some nice slow passes for the camera man ! Thanks for watching.

    I’m most impressed by the microphone quality and lack of wind noise on such a windy day. Cheers

      When I remember I take my external Sennheiser mic. Works quite well !

    Banggood has a kit called the savage bobber I have considered buying but people seem to have trouble getting it to fly well. I am wondering if you and Trev could get one to fly.

      Fortunately our Trevor does like building kits and I have a good contact with Banggood so possible. Will see what I can do.

    Would it be a suitable indoor flyer ?

    • @EssentialRC
      @EssentialRC  3 месяца назад

      Hmmm, maybe not in a typical sports hall (e.g. 4 x badminton courts). Bit larger or a a stadium, yes.

      @@EssentialRC I do some indoor flying and it's an area of 2X basketball courts.

      Well...it would be interesting to try but I'd certainly want to do a few flights outside first to get CG spot on and trim it out for level flight and get the rates/expo setup. Depth perception with the walls is the problem when flying inside. Sometimes I've got it and sometimes I don't 😆

    Really needs a gyro otherwise fun will be shortlived….

    • @EssentialRC
      @EssentialRC  3 месяца назад +2

      Nah, in my experience there is no RC aeroplane/jet on this planet that MUST have a gyro. It can help make them fly smoother in gusty wind but a competent pilot should also be able to fly in those conditions. We did it before gyros were available so should be able to do it now.

      @@EssentialRC Tell that to the guys that fly the $$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$ turbine jets, they use multi gyros in those planes, but very cool video, handle the wind quite nicely....

      I fly several turbine jets and it's not essential but when used does make it feel more locked in. For thrust vectoring when you want to delegate to the gyro to hold hovering or high alpha attitude, yes, it's a must. Pilot will never be good enough or quick enough to make the corrections.
