Spring Day is the queen of all BTS songs. This is one of the most controversial and bravest BTS song ever. It's a beautiful tribute that can be passed on to generations to generations. Since its released this song has been in the Korean chart till now and during spring this song would always goes up the chart. Hats off and so much love and respect to BTS for their brilliant minds, work and masterpiece. 💜💜💜💯💯💯💯

And because of this song not only that SEWOL incident and victims are remembered, but also their story are being known worldwide as the song reaches out different nations.
This is why BTS is different, their impact is never just skin deep. Lovely reaction. Though you've said you did it backwards by having known the song via perf first before the MV, i think your familiarity of the song made your "MV explanation" reaction more beautiful.

till this day, korea has a huge attachment to spring day, it even still on the charts because of the love koreans have for it. it was a song that united generations, different societies, countries, races... all kind of people. this remains the most important song bts has ever made, even people who don't like kpop (or don't listen to bts) like this song. we have all been comforted by spring day in different situations of our lives. i am forever grateful to bts for this legendary song they created.

Thank you for this - Spring Day is referred to as the "queen", it is still in S. Korean charts since it came out in 2017, there is another explanation MV by the Italian Army, it has real footages from the tragedy. This song haunted me for months, and April 16th has been forever etched in my brain, which is the anniversary date for the Sewol tragedy. The melody and lyrics are so beautiful, it puts me to tears all the time.

Wow! Such a powerful song & video. As a new BTS fan, it makes me appreciate them even more. Over the last few months, I’ve gained such a deep appreciation for not only them as very talented artist…but more importantly, them as human beings. Watching some of the videos BTS Army posts on RUclips has helped me to see little snippets of their individual personalities…they really do seem like genuinely amazing people.
…and RM’s new album…Wow! It has been on repeat today.
I’m a little sad that I am just learning about them as they slow down to do their individual projects and military service…but on the bright side, it gives me time to play catch-up.

Thank you for reacting and watching explanation videos. You will find that majority of BTS' music videos have explanation videos alongside them, especially those within the BU or BTS Universe (a fictional storyline built by BTS about the melodies and life of the youth).
It's a deep, vast, yet wonderful dive into their musical artistry and variety so I suggest you guys check it out too. There are RUclips playlists of the BTS Universe in order (including the short films and reels).
However, do not feel too pressured to check them out. Just remember that as most of their songs use philosophies, wordplay, and strong symbolism, they tend to need an in-depth explanation accompanying it which is fortunately available here on RUclips. We hope you check them out when you're comfortable! And also, do their live performances too for better experience (they are much better live as there are new adlibs, note changes, choreographies, and interactions).
    Again thanks!!

You mentioned this, but yeah at the time of the tragedy the government didn’t want anyone speaking about it, so they were blacklisting anyone that talked about it, including celebrities, idols, etc. that’s why a lot of the message was somewhat subtle, bts and other artists put themselves in a dangerous situation even while being subtle. It took years before they could actually confirm that Spring Day was in fact a tribute to the Sewol Ferry Tragedy.

One of the realest reactions I've watched. Thank you so much for reacting to this. Spring day really holds a special place in all of ARMY's heart. It is, by far, one of the bravest and deepest songs BTS have created. The references, the association of the scenes in the music video...BTS, along with the director of the mv, really did a superb job. And can we forget how ARMY is able to identify and connect all that? Before, RM would always say that people who watched this MV are free to interpret it the way they want, but just last year, their label confirmed that it is a tribute to the victims of Sewol Ferry Tragedy in 2014. This queen have always remained unmatched, from then, till now. Btw, welcome to the rabbit hole, you guys. 😊💜

Welcome to the Queen of all BTS songs, which is still charting to this day and is beloved by almost all Koreans. I kinda hoped you'd also do the explanation by Italian Army as it gets deeper into the tragedy and details, but it's very explicit with video footage and such. BTS has always done songs with social commentary in every album and this was one of their best, IMO. Also, this isn't just a theory any longer as they have spoken about it (2020) that it was for the Sewol Tragedy (there was a ban and a blacklist for artists during the time).

Every song they write/perform means something. Their words and emotions carry weight. They don't put out meaningless fluff. BTS writes their truths and their experiences. People connect to their honesty and the courage it takes to stand up for themselves and what's right.
This is way ARMY is enormous.

Thank you for the reaction. I cry every time I watch the video. I watched The NY Times video/documentary on RUclips about the ferry sinking and it's so heartbreaking. The student who jokingly says in a phone video this might be how he dies and then later says panicking, "I don't want to die yet"...You're watching and you know he drowned😭. As a parent my heart also breaks for all of the families who lost their children and friends who lost multiple friends. When you see that video and the Italian ARMY's video you realize how brave BTS were to meet with victim's families and make the video knowing the government was blacklisting entertainers who protested or spoke out.

Actually Jimin around the year 2016 (apparently) the group doesn't talk about it clearly, but they don't make it explicit in videos, songs and they themselves have mentioned it in their run's, live etc.
The song is not about the ferry tragedy. It's for Jimin, he had an accident on the mountain where he fell into the water, being in a coma for months or more, when he woke up he lost the memory of what happened and why it happened. He had to relearn the smells, sensations etc. That's why in the run's his companions help him remember with activities in the water mainly, they help him by exercising his mind and above all to laugh since his mind was nebulous and his personality too, hence many BTS songs dedicated to jimin especially of suga who is the producer and composer of the group. Jimin recovered his memories and his personality is suspected around the year 2018 or so. That is the reality of the song. And much of the history of BTS and kpop that is full of abuse, confinement, theft of songs and productions, etc. Suga was actually hired as the group's producer and composer, everything is recorded on the Rookie king shows, vlive, etc. from when the group started. His universe is gigantic. By the way suga produces the mv and songs of the group txt where he explains the history of BTS in his videos. Suga produces many of the kpop groups that are now in existence. That's why they all have songs that relate to the history of BTS. You understand, BTS are angels for kpop, they freed many from abuse and from being locked up as they explain in their ON video. They are the best friends who helped Jimin recover, his voice was also affected by the accident. The blue and gray song is also about jimin and his happy days and other depressive ones because of his personality change because of his foggy mind. Until I get back his exact memories

this was especially amazing considering BTs were just starting to take off in their careers and they could’ve gotten canned by their govt for being so obvious about it.
Also, there’s a really good documentary on the tragedy. It’s about 40 minutes long I think, but the things covered in the MV barely scratch the surface of the hideousness of how this was handled by the Korean govt. 🥺

There's an even more in-depth explanation by Italian ARMY that details the other hints and symbols that this video missed. The Italian video is hard to watch, though, because it also takes a deep dive into the events of the Sewol tragedy and the severely inadequate and corrupt government response. BTS was on the ragged edge of being blacklisted for this song, and for offering support to the families of the lost. The whole episode is both heart breaking and infuriating.

I love this song and it's been 5 years and it's still on korean charts ❤
Thank you for the reaction! I would definitely try to watch hobipalooza in your patreon soon. Can you also react to rapline's cyphers? 1-4? or ddaeng by rapline as well with explanation video because ddaeng's lyrics is really deep and associates and lots of reference from korean culture, thank you again! love your reactions ❤❤❤

Aww BTS always taking risk.. this song won song of the year in Korea after 5 years it’s till charting I remember when some families of the victims of the tragedy spoke about it and said that BTS went to personally see them… this song also reminds me of the tragedy that happened in itaewon few weeks ago where again young adults died :(

I also wanted to clarify something that RM and Suga when they wrote this song they were thinking/writing about friends that they have lost. So the song itself can be interpreted however you would like, like loss. The MV though is pretty much about the tragedy too. (I mean the MV is art so it can be interpreted how you would like but it does have a meaning too that you discovered)… Thank you for reacting!!!
If by chance you are interested could you react to the Italian ARMY explanation video as well? It does go deeper and in my opinion explanation better for majority of parts…However it is Italian and their is quite a bit of text so feel free pause and rewind…I do understand if it is a hard one to watch and would like to watch it on your own time or just not watch it at all. Just highly recommend is you can/want to.

The SK government at that time was actively suppressing any critics of the sewol ferry tragedy. Also from what I have heard, defamation laws are crazy strict in SK. That's why a lot of artists choose the subtle way when criticizing others.

There's a lot of tv shows/movies or music in SK that reference or represent the Sewol Tragedy, for example I know you guys react to All of Us are Dead, that one scene when their all in the classroom and they start recording messages of themselves talking about their parents and telling them they love them, represents a video that was released of the kids who were on the ship, they recorded themselves moments before they died, that's why I find that scene so emotional. Spring Day is such a big song especially in South Korea till' this day its still on charts trending, I think this songs means a lot to the citizens of SK, I still find myself getting so angry when I just think about the fact that so many children lives could've been saved if the captain & crew members weren't fking selfish, it irks & pains me and my heart goes out to the victims families, thank you for your reaction :)

Please do the same for Baepsae. It's one of my fav BTS songs. It doesn't have an MV, but you can watch either the dance practice or a lyric video. DKDKTV has a video explaining the meaning of the song. It's so good.
